Honestly, I think what happened was that since they introduced CSU duo with NA2 Starco (and not ISS, as some one claims), they introduced the new specialist profiles. They wanted to give the new profiles to ISS and NCA as well so instead of correcting the existing data on the armies, they instead copied the entire troop statline and the all the profiles along with them.
Duo appeared at the same time ISS got CSU, iirc. Ditto for nca. Edit: maybe it was na2? Now there's CSU duo very far down the road for OSS. CB has some internal pipeline/bugfix/communication thing going on that makes em slow to respond. Infinity is big. Who knows how many steps of (mis) communication resulted in this. For all we know, the duo additional was an error/added too soon by an out-of-touch programmer who misinterpreted intentions amidst OSS development talks. Or something else. Regardless: it's not op, it's fun as hell, and people have been playing it a lot... Why not keep it?
Also, for Ikari, Wu Mings have "Fireteam: Core" in Army (as a skill), but cannot form normal Fireteam: Core (because it's not listed in table). For the love of God, get this stuff together. If unit cannot form a specific fireteam in specific sectorial - remove the skill for that sectorial's entry. Most players I know use Army VI and don't bother with wiki or pdf tables* (and, as a result, field illegal fireteams). *And I don't blame them. Everything should be in one place, perfectly clear.
This. I fully expect and support people to Duo units that have Fireteam:Duo in their profile entry in Army.
While I can understand the complains, you really need to work on the format of submitting such complains.
Multiple times? By sources other than ijw and pdf? Because only confirmation I have seen so far is ijw saying that if it's not in the PDF it doesn't exist. Which is fine on its own and there's good chance that this is how it should be but as we see with CSU there seem to be some disconnection between CB intentions and what's in the PDF. Multiple confirmations is exactly what we lack not what we had.
It's funny, because "Fireteam: Core" has disappeared from Wu Ming in ISS and they can form a normal core.
Also, there is no such skill as Fireteam: Core. I've been advocating for a revamp of how Army displays Fireteam options for a while. Something like a box showing available Fireteam types that will then list Core/Haris/Duo/Special, clicking on it would take you to the list of Fireteams wiki page. For example, Wu Ming in Ikari would show "Haris, Special" with a click through to this link: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/List_of_Fireteams#Ikari_Company
there is however a skill called fireteam Duo The fact that a unit with that skill is apparently prevented from using it is honestly just convoluted and moronic in the extreme http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Fireteam:_Duo_(Skill)
Unless the CSU Duo was supposed to be a special sauce for StarCo, which is when the new profiles were introduced. Having the skill doesn't let you form the team, this goes all the way back to HSN3 with the Umbra Samaritan in Onyx.
But you can't have a Haris of 3 Samaritans, even though you can take 3 of them, and they all have Haris.
This is sort of off topic, but it always seemed to me that the Fireteam: Duo skill should be usable in Vanilla. I mean, who runs Teampro on an EVO? Spending an Order to create the opportunity for Order efficiency? It’s weird.
I have a question: Is the CSU even a valid profile in ISS using the logic that the PDF/wiki is the more valid source compared to Army? It's not even listed in the unit profiles list on the official PDF. @ijw
What the... So we can't trust Army app and we have to double check fireteams in a PDF? Well, I've been running this duo, and everyone in my community follows fireteams as shown in army app. So I'm really going to continue doing this until some referee rules otherwise (which is really unlikely to happen).
honestly.... this is kind of what I would do and go by. if someone handed me a courtesy and they had a CSU duo and that little green check mark is there. Good to go by me.
The PDF is replicated on the wiki page http://infinitythewiki.com/en/List_of_Fireteams But this is more reason that they need to look at how Fireteams are presented in Army.
