This sounds very likely. I actually hope this does happen. Also where are the Templars these days? There were rumors of Tunguska or the Nomad nation providing safe havens for the survivors. After all the knights would be an asset in attacking Aleph.
I was hoping that we would get a kind of "Nomad Knight" but I think that the last remnants of the Templars are more hackers and AI researchers in the Nomad Nation and are better represented by Inteventors or indeed not in combat roles at all.
Wouldn't that be a treat – teutons finally get cool and we lose them Serves us right I guess. But to be honest I fully expect them to get a revamp in the near future alongside a special tournament box (ala tagline, or treason). It'll be on Paradiso with this relic "coming alive" or Beaconing home or something.
I'd just actually die laughing if CB revamped the Teuton profile, handed out an EXP CCW to all the options, added eclipse grenades... And then moved them wholesale to the faction that wins the ITS for this season. That would be, just, THE FUNNIEST thing.
It would be the place where the Teutons would run to first if they got canned from PanO. Then again, I think the Teutons might join the Combined Forces instead. Or be forced to join them.
Teutons getting EXPCCW and Auxbots with Eclipse Smokes would be cooler than just giving them Eclipse Smokes, I think. More PanO
Actually, the one faction that doesn't have much need for something like the Teutons probably is Nomads. As we stand there's something in each sectorial. We are the jacks of all trades, and master of none. Except hacking. And Airborne Deployment I guess. But other people can do them pretty good too.
I'd argue that Nomads are now the undisputed king/queens of the Heavy Infantry link team category. They now have two Sectorials where noone does it better, except maybe StarCo who are still using Nomad units. Though if we want to get granular, their offerings in the "amazing solo HI" category are definitely building momentum. The TaskMaster and Kriza are stunning for their cost, and solo Hollowmen are pretty dang good. They'd laugh at the idea of having to use a unit as weird as the current Teuton. A redesigned Tueton would have to be stunning to even register on the radar of a good Nomad player.
True. The tricky thing is that Invincible Army, like PanO, is working with the disadvantage of being "a professional army." This means that flavorful, whacky, incredibly cost-effective rules like Frenzy, Impetuous, Full Auto, etc. don't really make sense in the context of their soldiers. I'm hopefuly for IA, and hopeful that Yu Jing can really get the best Heavy Infantry link teams, but the freak side of Nomads actually entitles them to a broader spectrum of rules than most other factions get.
