Some of them could also join Ikari Company - the "Up yours, hypocrites!" faction. :) Anyway, yeah - Sygmaa are the good ones, IMHO. At least, they have a legitimate axe to grind with their government. I wish they had more units in the CA, because I like these guys. Anyway #2 - it looks like I'll be getting the Shasvastii Action Pack today... so yes, I'll try out these Combined aliens. Even though I need wrap my head around their evil ways... Question: if I have Nox, do I need Unidrons? They are both the basic light infantry...
Both have their appeal, Unidrons have plasma, which is amazing, and can be buffed with a hacker, plus Dogged & Rempres means they can take a solid hit and still be dangerous for that turn. Nox bring a Zapper, which is a wonderful defensive DTW, plus the ability to go into Suppressive Fire, and the Shasvaasti rule which is useful in some scenarios. Both have their advantages, though Ikadrons are probably your first choice for cheerleaders.
I see. And what about the basic Morat infantry? Anyway, just got my Shasvastii box. Wheeeee..! Very nice miniatures, I must say. And they came pre-assembled (unpainted, though - which I like), so they won't increase my Pile of Shame.
Vanguards are somewhat of the ugly ducklings of the bunch. They stay regular when you're in LoL and they're immune to Jammers, but Vanilla CombArmy doesn't really care about LoL due to Mnemonica and cheerleaders rarely get jammed. They do have better PH than the other choices and can do Suppression Fire, but it's hard to justify them over the Unidron or Nox in a Vanilla list. They used to be your cheapest option for a Supportware Hacker, but that was before Nox existed.
I would avoid both, seems that you're going the Shaas way, so, i would stick with Nox for now, at least until the urge to play Onyx emerges a lil down the road :D
Actually, I'm going the "freaky and cool aliens" way :) So yes, I got some of the Shasvastii, but I also definitely want to add the Sygmaa units. And at least an Oznat, maybe some more Morats. So, I'm trying to work out whether it'd be better to buy the CA and Morat starters, or try hunting down the individual minis from these boxes...
Morats are at a bad spot in vanilla CA right now. BUT I think N4 will breathe some new life in them. Right now, there's like, 2 morat models that actually have a place in vanilla CA (Daturazi and Krakots) and a few that can be used, but aren't optimal (Oznat+SynchPreta, Zerat, Raicho, FA Sogarat, KHD rodok, kurgat) However, N4 might actually see us using a lot of the MAF oldies. There's a chance a points rebalance will make guys like Suryats and Yaogats more palatable for what they bring to the table.
Thank you! But I'm not dropping my Haqqs... or ALEPH... or YJs... or whatever else I have collected. ;) (the Pile of Shame is big)
Hey guys, I have a request: could you make some photos of the Hungries next to other S2 minis? I'm wondering what size they actually are... The official photos make them look like tiny goblin made of sticks. And speaking of weird minis: are you able to make sense of that limited edition Ko Dali? What are these green? yellow? things behind her legs? Some sort of alien appendages, or is she sitting on a tree? List-building observation: it's a bit shame that there's just one Doctor in the whole army... I'm not fully sold on that worm. CA seems weirdly specialized in that regard... Also, why is Gwailo not available in vanilla CA? It's the first time I see a trooper that is clearly associated with an army - and yet, is available only in the sectorial. I've always thought vanilla faction lists had access to all of their factions' units? The thing with Gwailo irritates me a little, as he seems like an interesting unit - plus, he's a really cool model!
The Med-Tech fluff talks about that - with as many different species as are in the CA, each with their own unique biology, a special tool-construct was needed to be able to successfully treat casualties in integrated forces. If there were Morat or Shasvastii doctors, fluff concerns would dictate that they are sectorial-only profiles. In fact, in N2, there were rules about doctors and medikits not working on other species, but those got dropped in N3.
Yes, that's true. Admittedly, I don't have a problem with that idea on its own - it's just the only available doctor is... a caterpillar. Not a very spectacular model...
Dr. Worm is awesome and flavorful. He and the old Drones really helped sell how alien the combined army was.
Ah, so it's a plant! Really, thank you. It was one of these minis where I see a photo and I'm not sure what I'm looking at... He's definitely unique. Still, I'm not entirely sold on him...
I guess it's a matter of taste, for many the worm silhuette is awesome. But hey, it's infinity, you can proxy it with another S3 :D
Hehey! Welcome to the club. Today I ordered this action pack instead failed order of PanO MO 300pt box.
