For Shasvastii he is great, not sure for CA, maybe he will be prevalent, maybe he will fight for a spot.
While we always had gear checks in Infinity, I think this and other Immunity (ARM) units just means you should try to have at least one viral/breaker weapon in the list. Note that he doesn't have shock Immunity, so a single viral hit can put him straight to dead. He is still good, though, and competes for crowded hi-end slot in CA and Shas.
In Shasvastii I do not see much competition, in CA I am expecting much, they have a lot of great units and you cannot fit them all.
So is anyone else feels like Achilles seems to be overcosted in N5? The 22 points he pays over Sheskiin does not seem worth +1 Vita, +2 ARM, +2 WIP, Mimetism-3, and AP weaponry. Especially since he should get both the Hackable and Frenzy discounts, while she gets Protheion. Am I missing something?
My god, this new Charontid is just pure gold. Hacking Device Plus, Plasma Rifle, LT +1 order, ECM Hacker -3, X-Visor, Sepsitor Plus and Pulzar B2 is just too good of a package, I can't wait to field it! That's quite a long list of advantages for Achilles, some of them making a big difference for such a profile (3W, Mimetism and AP Spitfire, I'm looking at you). I feel it's costed more or less correctly. It's good that it's at least a bit different to Sheskiin. Oh, and Achilles can link and bring a specialist with him. That's big as well regarding order efficiency and objectives. He can bring a Pandora. Or a Patroclus looking like Pandora.
I'm not sure it'll be worth 49 pts over Charontid Lt too often, though. The latter is an extremely good choice, and Avatar's advantages might not be big enough to justify making it so much more difficult to fit entire support structure into the list. I know I'll run it to check for myself, but I'm just not sure how viable Avatar will be.
In N5 with the weakeningnof Fireteams, Native BS 15 and Minimism -6 is very powerful. Let's test it first.
Very peremptory claim, based on not much than thin air considering N5 went out this week. Maybe it would be good to play some games before? The Avatar seems to still be a monster, especially considering the FTs were heavily nerfed, and he went down by SEVENTEEN points. That's more than enough to cover the two orders he lost.
In my not updated app he ia at 126 Points.... In the Updated one at 120..... Thats not 18 Points cheaper
Even though it lost 2 Orders, Avvy is still ARM9 Mim-6 monster with a DAM18 / PS2 large teardrop instakill template. Sure you can only fuel it 11 orders not 13, but is that really an issue?
There is also Fastballs now. A Fastball applied to an Avatar to get it out of a pickle is intrinsically better than a Fastball applied to a lesser mook.
Indeed, I had another value in mind. It got cheaper by 6 points "only". My point still stands. You can use these 6 points to get another regular order somehow (plenty of solutions in vCA) and you can still fuel this monster with more than enough order, while it will be facing less resistance. And we get an extra command token, which as someone said, can be equivalent to a 4th W on it, or cleaning EM damage, for example. Really, play some games, the Avatar is just fine. Sorry, which human counterpart? Even in N5, you can fuel it with much more than 11 orders :)
