I think the key element of Brawlers is totaly on the fire team:core and Tagma.
You could play something like this :

    Spiral Corps
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]6
    TAAGMA (Tri-Core) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)

    BRAWLER Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
    BRAWLER Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)
    4 SWC | 113 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

The first fire team is the classic Tri-Core, the twist is that you have a similiarish (3 man link). The key of positioning is that the second fireteam should be placed in a way to cover both another part of the table and the fire Team Triad.

The cost in SWC is high, but point wise 113 point for 6 order is not so bad. You could use Holo to hide the tagma with Brawlers for a Brawler with D-charges, your enemy could fall in the trap thinking that you just wanted a more protected specialist.

Or you could replace the Tagma in the second fire team with a Brawler with Heavy rocket launcher depend on tastes.

The first triad isn't legal, the special triad must have 2 baggage Chaksa.

So, no use for 5-man core brawler link?

For clarifing cause I am new to Spiral. The way I understood Fireteam:Triad is that you could combine every unit (even different one) that have the TRIAD rule plus some special combination like the Rexx (that don't have Triad) with the Kriigel.

So for what I understood if I took the chaksa with baggage, sensor and TRIAD I could put him in every fireteam that has the rule TRIAD.

    Am I wrong?

I would appreciate if someone could clarify.

In general, yes, but chacksa's have Fireteam : Special Triad which means they can form links only with specific composition (you can see them in army builder at the bottom of profiles). Particulary this one can form only this kind of link: 2 chackas with Special fireteam skill and one taagma schemer. Same for any kind of special fireteams.

Having 5-men bonusses for ARO sounds appealing.
I once tried this, but have to try again, as I got very unlucky with my dice...

    Spiral Corps
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]5
BRAWLER Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
    BRAWLER Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
BRAWLER Doctor (MediKit) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
    BRAWLER Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)

    3 SWC | 95 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

The other way for some long range AROs is two of those triads:

    Spiral Corps
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]3
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]3
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)

    3 SWC | 90 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Same SWC and nearly same costs, but one more order, but no Sixth Sense and no +3 BS.
    Hm.
I am uncertain which is the better way to go...

I don't think the two Viral Snipers is worth it and I would probably take the Brawler AHD over the HRL just for utility. If I wanted to play Taagmas I would Tricore the sniper, and for Brawlers I would use them to hide my Taagma lt. The big reason I wouldn't put an HRL and MSR in the same link is because the HRL adds a weakness to the link (smoke, range bands) that makes it easier to take out the HRL and then drop the sniper once the BS bonus is gone.

You could take the MSV2 MSR instead of the HRL, but that's an additional 10 points.
For the AHD I do not see much utility in a defensive link.
    What utility do you see?

An assault hacker with sixth sense level 2 is always interesting to get around stealth tags and HI, its also a cheap specialist that really benefits from a +3 WIP bonus on missions like unmasking. The only problem with it in Spiral is the complete absence of repeater coverage.

Imo, the strength of brawlers is being able to run a regular core and a tri core. If I'm not running the dual core I see no need to be running brawlers for any reason. Kumotail and taagma are superior to nearly everything brawlers offer and better and we have better LT options and cheerleaders.

If I were running a dual core I'd run the brawler HRL, brawler Dr and vanilla brawler (AHD brawler if I had spare swc) and 2 taagma (1 Msv 2 and 1 not).

Each brawler you take is 1 less triad linkable model and if you're running a tri-core too you want that up and running as long as possible. The brawler core is there to be really annoying to dislodge and static while the tri-core can run around breaking faces and completing objectives.

Yeah, but then you are not using the Brawlers as a defensive link.
You just make that link vulnerable to infiltrating killer hackers.

And I don't see them as active/aggressive link,
maybe as emergency plan for the last turn,
    but other than that,
I see their use as long range ARO pieces with 5 man link bonuses.

It's really a shame that dat Assault Hacking Device can't form a Triad.
IT's the only profile option that I found juicy.

Technically you can form Brawler's Haris:
    Brawler haris
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]3
BRAWLER (Fireteam: Haris) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 17)
BRAWLER Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Submachine Gun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 17)
    BRAWLER Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)

    1 SWC | 50 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

But big issue with brawler specialists is WIP12, abit too low to be reliable

I wouldn't use a 5 man brawler core defensively unless I took a 6th model to re-fill. It would be shredded by 90% of active turn models very easily. Any 5 man link can be aggressive and active, just depends on how you deploy them. They certainly won't be aggressive if they're on towers.

Imo spirals strength is leveraging multiple link teams (core or triad) bonuses to power up their "weaker" guns. Having a core team on either side of your table poised to mess things up is better (imo) than a defensive one that gets busted up in a few orders and an aggressive one that can be avoided or pinned down.

The tri-core is more useful defensively over brawlers (imo) because it has a smaller footprint and allows you to replenish that team for core bonuses much easier for an active turn push.

A bigger issue is that those 3 models don't synergize with the rest of the army at all. Regular taagma act as triad fillers to power up the rest of your army with mods and weapons actually worth powering for the same points cost.

Alternatively you could just form a Brawler Core with 3 members and save yourself that sweet sweet SWC.

...Or you can go for both, with taagma's inclusion. Not the best idea, but technically it's also a possibility that may be handful in some situations

Another thing I was considering about Brawlers is that their 3 man firelink (with or without Taagma) is the cheapest that can support the Sniper with some firepower.

Taagma + Chaksa is still the cheapest, but for 12 point more you get 2 Rifle that in ARO with B2 aren't bad and if you have some spare point for 16 point more than Chaksa link you got a Doctor that can save the Sniper in some situation.

The HRL option is juicy, but BS 12 for 1.5 SWC seems to much to be worth considering.

Ehi guys. Just for the sake of discussion.

I made this list using the Brawler Core and I am actually happy with it :

    Brawler Core
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]5
BRAWLER Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
BRAWLER Doctor (MediKit) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
    TAAGMA (Multispectral Visor L2) Viral Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 25)
    BRAWLER Engineer Rifle + Light Shotgun, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
    BRAWLER Lieutenant Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]9 [IMG]1
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)
CHAKSA AUXILIAR (Baggage, Sensor, Fireteam: Special Triad) Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 10)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9)
CLIPSOS (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
CLIPSOS (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25)
DRAAL (Minelayer) Submachine Gun, Pulzar, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Viral Pistol, Knife. (1 | 31)
    KOSUIL Engineer Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges, Panzerfaust / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24)
KRIIGEL Breaker Combi Rifle + Smoke Light Grenade Launcher / Viral Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27)
TAAGMA (White Hacking Device) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 20)
KERAIL PRECEPTOR Submachine Gun, Smoke Grenades + 1 Surda SymbioBeast / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0 | 20)
[IMG] SURDA SYMBIOBEAST Pulzar / Viral CCW. (0 | 8)
    6 SWC | 300 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

The list is mainly good for a defensive game thanks to the Brawler Link + Triad. The Helot and the mine of the Draal can be placed to slow down enemy coming for your Link. There are a good number of specialist, Draal and 2 Clipsos are the main button pusher, but you have an Hacker a Doc and Engi if you need. Except for the K1 combi of the Kosuil you don't have a lot of firepower, but with smoke from the Krigel and Preceptor you should be able to do mission just needing few kills.

Actually this is the first list I do with Brawlers that I like.
