I considered getting Scarface, so that I could have a dismounted Scarface since I was going to be running him for a list I wanted at the time. As soon as that price got revealed, NOPE! And all the other ones were just cheesecakey garbage. It's a shame they wussed out of what their supposed secondwave was going to be. They talked about things like battle-damaged knights/heavy infantry with loadouts that didn't actually have models--that would have sold.
I would love to see the battle damaged things. In general the bootleg always seemed cool to me but I am a gamer first and mediocre painter so for me usability on the table is most important.
And I think that's where CB lost me when I first got into the game. There were models I loved the profiles for that I, hands down, would not have bought to put on the table because of their positioning. They were made to look cool as models, not to be functional as game pieces.
Overpriced compared to models that the average player is going to buy 50+? Yes. Overpriced compared to any other model that you're only going to sell 1-2 per gamer/army? Not anywhere near as bad.
Personly i would like if CB would do more Bootleg miniatures like the alternate skins for Aristeia! They sell realy well here, i have bought a second Maximus (gifted one the first to a Spartan lover) and i know my Nerdtore ordered at least 10 Hexxer alternate skins as some people used that miniature for other games. So we know they can do such stuff, but we need to encourage them more. And for the price Maximus is a big chunk of metal in height bigger than some of the S5 miniatures from Infinity and its cheaper than a single hero plastic miniature from the big skull games.
Considering that most of the time the reason you're "only going to sell 1-2 per gamer/army" it's because of artificial restrictions? That's on CB's end. Unless you're trying to argue that Bolts with CR+LSG should really be worth whatever ridiculous price they are from splitboxing.
Not that artificial. You're only going to have one Napoleon/Wellington/Pershing/Moore&Plumley (ie, force-commander) on the table. They're no more than 12gbp, if you buy the Cosplay Bolt (which ain't exactly split-boxing). Cho doesn't have any basic bolts on his split-box listing, his Bolt RL is 5gbp.
Sure, but how many Kriza Boracs can I have? How many Bolts with CR+LSGs? Thanks for proving my point. So I have to deal with a CB partner or wait for a splitboxer to have an item that they don't always have thanks to shoddy product management on CB's part...or I have to bite the bullet and get three models I don't want or need to get three I'd want. Superb!
When we're talking about something I feel that Corvus Belli has completely dropped the ball on? Absolutely. But since you're here, did you have anything useful to add to the topic at hand or did you just want to try to needle at me?
Throw AVAs out the window but keep points/SWC, you could probably fit 2, maybe 3 KBs in 300 points? Throwing points and going to TO&Es, no clue. Because we don't have TO&Es for Infinity. No squad organizations, let alone higher up. I'd have, oh, 3 combi+LSG bolts in a squad of 9. Everyone else is packing support weapons (following the current US Army squad/fireteam organization). Plus probably all the REMs. At the very least, combi+FO and baggagebots. Though Bolts don't have any GLs, so I grabbed 2 with Drop Bears and two boarding shotgun EM Grenadiers for squad indirect fire. Squad of Bolts ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 BOLT Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) BOLT Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) BOLT MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 26) BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) GROUP 2 3 BOLT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) BOLT Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27) MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) 6.5 SWC | 286 Points Open in Infinity Army The Bolt LT is your Squad Leader. Then you have two fire teams ("bricks" in Aus Army parlance, so probably in PanO parlance): First Brick is a Spitfire, ML, Drop Bears, and EM grenadier; Second Brick is a Spitfire, MSR, Drop Bears, and EM Grenadier. Then you have the Paramedic, Hacker/drone controller, a point/recon drone, and a baggagebot, technically as part of the 'Command Team' in new USMC parlance (though the Marines would have a third Brick, probably identical to the second brick, Marines have always valued precision marksmanship over big guns). If you're in a mission that doesn't require the ML or MSR, they'd be combi+LSG Bolts, for a max of 5x combi+LSG bolts that I'd want/need if I'm making an AusArmy style Bolt Squad. A USMC-style Bolt Squad would have a max of 7x combi+LSG Bolts, and only 4 combi+LSG bolts normally. Guess what? CB has made 4 unique combi+LSG Bolt sculpts, if you get the Cosplay Bolt. I don't need any more, I'd need one NCA starter box and (grumbles) three Bolt SWC boxes (or two boxes plus a split Bolt Hacker, stupid lack of BSGs), plus a bunch of Drop Bear models, to make that 9-Bolt squad. And I wouldn't even need the Cosplay Bolt! I would need a second NCA starter box to make the 13-Bolt squad, though. Actually hold that thought, I need to chase down how many Bolt models there are again... Though I would like to be able to do some arm-swapping to have unique SWC poses. If the guns are identifiable at range, then I prefer unique poses for every model. If they aren't identifiable at range, like that new PanO BSG, then it's probably better having a weapon-specific pose. I may have to go dig out an old PanO BSG, I really hate the new one. Looks too much like the combi, not to mention the joys of that magazine. That's also assuming a rather low drone-to-trooper ratio for a squad. One scifi setting has a single fireteam of grunts supported by half a dozen drones, per trooper. That's 3 meatbods and 18 drones, per fireteam. But that setting also has a lot more AIs running around, those drones are just short of sophont. Usually. Sometimes they're actually sophont (or become sophont, but the setting has the process to make a fully-sophont AI well-understood and not something that you can have happen accidentally). So, you don't want/need an additional Aquila MR, Hexa Spitfire, or Swiss ML? Yeah, I could see that. Though I'd at least futz around with arm swaps to make a Swiss hacker. Probably have to make it a 3-way arm swap, to get something usable on the Aquila (very few options for a HI ML, you'd have to swap to a FK or Magister...) Major shame about that Aquila sculpt, it'd be epic for an HMG pose...
OK, actual Bolt models: 3x Combi+LSG Bolts in NCA starter Bolt Paramedic in Beyond Icestorm Bolt ML, MSR, Spitfire, and BSG/Hacker in Bolt SWC box Cosplay Bolt (I think with Combi+LSG, but could convert to BSG pretty easily) Makes 9 total unique models. Right then. Makes the issue with my army list getting BSGs, I need one more than there are actual models for (buying NCA starter and 2x Bolt SWC boxes, plus the Cosplay Bolt. I already have Beyond Icestorm). Guess I would need a second NCA starter to use for arm swaps, and/or would need to raid arms for two-three BSGs. Can't use Bagh Mari, that pose is too unique... Man, I think I'd need to raid the old ORC BSG (well, I'd want to do that anyway, I can't stand the new PanO BSG)! And file the hacker visors off two Bolts. Jeez, what a pain. CB, this is why your background needs squad/platoon organizations!!!
Not to be a spoilsport, but AVA is also a needed component. Else you will see a FULL PostHuman army of Mk1+Mk5+ maybe Mk2 and some cheerleaders... We are talking 20 points for 2 wounds + NWI, pick 13 of those and you can fit 'em with 6 extra orders (Netrods + 8pts remotes)... For Limited Insertion you could go and deploy 2 mk1+mk4+mk5 for 80pts, then one mk1+mk2 hacker+mk5 for 41, then one mk1+mk2sniper+mk5 for 44 points, and you still have 135 points for 6 other orders...
While I agree, @Mahtamori was referring to artificial constraints in army building making certain models a one-per-customer item, and AVA is definitely an artificial constraint. So I gave an example of what I'd expect for KBs, if KBs were not limited to one per army (two per army in Tunguska). 3x KBs is more than I'd want to spend, that's 167 points in 3 models. You'd need to get 7 models in 133 points, less than 20 points per. I guess the better question is, would anyone be willing to field that Bolt Squad? I'd probably add a CSU or something to eat the last few points, overall like this: Bolt Squad ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 BOLT Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 22) BOLT Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) BOLT Hacker (Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 27) CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) BOLT Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) GROUP 2 4 BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) BOLT MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 26) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) BOLT Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 25) 6.5 SWC | 298 Points Open in Infinity Army The CSU specialist is what they're escorting to do the mission.
Oops, yes I did mean @kanluwen . Now that I have your attention, though, what do you think of the Bolt Squad?
Well... I'm in a part of the forum I rarely ever visit, in a topic I am not sure of what it wants, and I'm a bit uncertain what I'm asked. Real life squad composition is your expertise :)
