To be fair, I and our group thought the exact same thing initially regarding auxilia etc. being able to use the xenotech. It's a pretty simple mistake to make and I wouldn't be surprised if many/most people are making it. Probably worth a FAQ.
If you disagree on the rules with someone, look it up on the wiki, in the rulebook, if you can't find it in a decent amount of time, try to come up with an acceptable solution, or just roll off (1-10 dude has cover, 11-20 dude does not have cover), and look it up later at home, ask on the forums. Yep. That's why it's important to read them for yourself.
New ridiculous idea, daisy-chain ZoC Sync the xenotech to the auxbot, the auxbot to the Auxila, now you get to move the Xenotech 40cm from the source of the order all of them are already moving from the same order if you do it right, i feel maybe this is what they wanted to stop
I played some Acquisition last night and had the Xenotech synced to my Hospitaller Doctor. Since he wanted to move forward (as a durable specialist to push buttons, as a doctor to heal my dudes, and as a BS14 gunfighter with a Multi Rifle) it was a natural place to put a civvie that needs to move forwards. Ended up doing pretty decently. I moved out in turn 2, arrived in the place to deploy scanner, and proceeded to fail 3 WIP rolls and ran out of orders. During my opponents turn he killed the doctor so my Santiago duo had to go rescue the scientist. Paramedic synced up, dropped off the Spitfire Santiago and proceeded to blow more orders planting the scanner but by my turn 3 the game was so far swung in my favor it didn’t matter.
