I love sister Wabonka, the model looks super cool. But I'm getting an NBW/Berserk/CC23 feel from her, and that makes me roll my eyes a bit.
Seeing the minis out from under the red haze lighting in the action shots makes me like them a bit more, but I really feel like this is a missed opportunity to work more of the cultish aspects of the observance into the design. I can understand the change to give the Moiras pants, but I think it is the replacement of the hoods with full blown habits which reads as specifically catholic to me, and turns the aesthetic from weird religious sect, to just regular ol' nuns. Kusanagi kept the hood, (even if it is down), so I am not sure why it was ditched for the Moiras and Healers. As for the Sisters of Battle references, I feel like everyone is stuck on the image of the standard Battle Sister, rather than the more recent, (and the more close resemblance), Novitiate Sisters, (which in my opinion are less interesting than the Battle Sister). That said, the Dire Foes box looks great, (though I expect Konstantinos is annoyed that this Nomad has stolen his action pose).
Yeah, as I said I can for sure see where they've gone a bit more gothic/dark style. Of course, they've kind of always been that way, they just weren't front and center in the faction as much. But then, I'm an ALEPH guy and I think the Violent Intermission was just a false flag perpetrated by religious whackjobs in leotards. :)
I also like her, but the pose and the presentation is very similar to Mendoza regular while she ques in with Valkyrie or the new Morats bodybuilding females. I would like to see a more quite pose, like the lim ed Mendoza.
Personally I can't help but double take to make absolutely certain it isn't Gunnar in a different paint job. Really not liking the majority of the Bakunin visual redesign, though a general release Cenobite might catch my attention if the rules are solid and the Custodier+Sin Eater keeping the old helmets does a lot to tie things together.
The more I look at them the more I dislike them. To a point that I think "fck it, I don't care anymore". The design is a sure miss for me. They have no kink, they are just generic nuns with their wimples instead of hoods. I urge to find something that resembles old timey "anime/cyberpunk style" as Infinity was promoted back in the day and I cannot find any. Its just generic sci-fi. - Iron halos also look "eh". Must be great runing around in a space ship with that thing sticking above your head. - New claymore swords don't fit girls look at all, what was wrong with previous sleek sabers? - And then there's a Big Sis. I don't like claymores, but her sword is just on another level. Straight from World of Warcraft. And these latest "Power Suits" seems to be just a somewhat plausable way to make troops twice as big as a regular human. These are not real arms, why do you keep fitting them with XL-sized human weapons? Who would bother building a huge articulated arm and a huge sword that no human can hold? Are these all 3d-printed in future so you can just tile up the scale? Why cant you just mount a CCW on that arm? You'll even free up a wrist! Or even better - use power tools like miners do! - Dire Foes - I could probably dig a hammer/prying tool CCW idea for a trooper in space, but an explosive hammer? Why? It hardly fits nuns aestetics. And why does she look like transgender Gunnar Lundmark? Oh, and by the way - Healer has EXP weapon and high CC too, and even on third time it is never resembled on a mini. Can't you at least give her power knuckles or something so she'll punch people like Tifa from FF7? Ugh. Can't wait to see what lies beyond.
There is a point when an opinion it is not longer a valid critic and turn into what it is know since the beggining of the internet as 'trolling'. And I think this whole post has crossed the line. Although I don't personally dig into the wimples aesthetic, the new Observance Action Pack has improved the looks from all the observance units. Trenchammer Mother Healer included. In fact, I would love to use her as a Varangian Proxy.
I'm fairly confident that the iconography is for Ave Maria, which makes a lot of sense for the Observance of Saint Mary of the Knife
First thing i saw was a Camo marker next to the sin-eater. I will totally cancel my preorder the moment i find out Sin-eater will not get Markerstate. lucky for you, the halos are seperate, so no one has to add them to the modell. Maybe its not some metall stuff framing the helmet but some holographic sheenanigens, just for intimidation. I like this unboxing-video very much. I like the modell of the Custodier way much than the pictures. Still not the iconic classics, but i can work with (imho one of the weaker redesigns) Orphan and Healer look okay, not my favs of the box. Cenobites look amazing. I love this half-helmets. Also I am excited to get this HVT/Charakter modell of the Dire foes box. BTW i love the automaticly generated english subtitels of the video. I will never again call this CC-Weapen anything else than "Trans hammer" and the Nomads Vacuum Action Box. Totally made my day.
I have a question to the swords. Where is scabbards? Sometime new CB miniatures with swords missing this important detail. (Look at one of new ghulams or that line Infantry from MO box) There are lots of problems at my taste. But I am not going to mention them already. Everything were told lots of times.
