Well, rumor has it that he was playtested (and even previewed?) with Strategos 2, so that, perhaps. Well, unless it's individualized. Then again, these changes being temporary will be irrelevant enough anyway.
Voronin is very useful. In TAK focused lists that want to maximise Tank Hunters, Vet kazaks and Spetznaz and are usually a single combat group he is fantastic
I'm unsure if this is a joke post or not, but it kind of illustrates my point: "This guy is super useful, all you have to do is limit your list building choices, restrict what you can use, and then limit yourself once more for good measure and he shines like a star!" you can see how one might perceive this unit as inflexible and just generally a bad choice.....
Since it sounds like all the characters will just get one skill, a la Fatality L1 on TAGs, any thought on what it might be? Specialist is unlikely, since there's already Specialists among them. Anything to increase gunfighting is unlikely, since Tarik breaks that concept. Equipment is unlikely... Thematically, what even makes sense for the experience they're all undergoing? It's such a random crew too. Feels a bit like watching The Usual Suspects. I'd love to see a mugshot lineup of them all together.
Free Agent? Wait, wait, no: they'll all come back as members of Star Co. Screw everyone else. That's the ticket! :-)
At first I thought leadership skill.... which would make sense thematically. but Andromeda and Gui Feng kind of ruin that. Perhaps Advanced Command? Doesn't require the model to be the LT, although usually only LTs have it.
They will all receive Defensive Hacking Devices so they can better defend against their social media being hacked.
Well, we do not know that. "Like Ironclad" may mean that new rules will be written in ITS papers and nowhere else, but it doesn't mean it'll be just one rule for everyone, even though it's possible, of course. The best defence against that is, of course, to not have such media...
assumed they really get the same thingy after all i dont recall this was explicitly stated as such, only that its gonna be a temporarily bonus like the fatality on tags (wgich btw everyone counts on somehow being implemented as standard, or not?) i mean it it wouldnt be much of an extra work to list a unique bonus for the what, 7-8 guys? on the othet side that would again spark a guaranteed shitstorm (there is no way to make everyone happy) edit:aaaaand ninja'd by @Barrogh :)
The alternative viewpoint is that not all units are (or even should be) useful in all contexts, and that 300pt multiple Combat Group games are not the sole criteria for judging a unit...
You might not see the benefit of having an list almost entirely made of camo with 10 orders and BS12/13 across the board. But I do and its how I would run Ruskies if I had the interest in taking them. Usually, the troops that are widely useful fall into three categories: fuel (cheerleaders like Kuagnshi), elite (Hac Tao...), and impractical (because they have tons of stuff, but fare on each the same as a basic troop, so its a compressed version of several troops). Hector is an example of a widely useful troop: Tinbot for those extremely rare links where he goes hand-to-hand with Ajax and a myrmidon hacker, but it gives him enough utility anyway; very good melee (2W+NWI, MA4, good weapon, top CC...), a great weapon (plasma. The spitfire is best on other platforms), speculative capabilities with a stun grenade (so then go close with the link and kill the enemy), plus gives his Lt order as a regular one. Add the CoC of the officer (who will be close because of shotgun and eclipse grenades), and the only problem is his cost. Voronin however is a fragile unit, whose only selling point are "only way to reach 11 orders in LI" and "cheapest non SWC Lt", in a faction with only one CoC. Now, unless Rodina is filled with Veterans N1/N2 or has CoC, or he will remain where he is right now.

That's exactly why some units should be only vialable in 5% of the possible scenarios, and then only by a margin than their usual competitors.
No matter what way you slice it, Voronin is an obvious LT. choice and has little in the way of defending himself or doing anything outwardly useful besides adding an extra regular order to the pool (Instead of a LT. order which can be used on a much sturdier, more aggressive LT.) His larger footprint makes him harder to hide and has no good ARO options. So you're using him as a glorified 21 point cheerleader? He honestly might be one of the most useless profiles in the game.
