Is Dart a post human? I thought she was a creation for the Aristeia circuit? I'd take another look at your calculations I think. From what I've been able to tell the Daoying BSG profiles dont pay for LT2 but the sniper pays 2 points. Seems like they try and decide if the model will be making heavy use of its LT orders to murderize stuff and if the answer is yes the model costs the 2 pts. Thats just my own theory though.
She's a PanO citizen that was uploaded, I think she gets a writeup in 3rdO but I don't have mine yet.
She's Posthuman. No ccalculations needed. Daoying have 6 profiles; 3 Lt l2 and 3 same profiles except not Lt. All 3 profiles cost the same whether LT2 or not.
It seems like the daoying MSR is paying extra on something from what I've been able to tell. My assumption was LT2. But then I discounted the non LT options entirely. Hmmm
I think I missed Minelayer. And Mines seem to vary in price alittle so may have put them in as 0 on my first go. But that math seems to stack up... This is why I did not become an Actuary.
Maybe it's just my experience coming from JSA and Imperial Service, but I find it difficult not to trip over good "attack pieces" in OSS. I could begin and end this post with the Dakini HMG. It's a supportware-capable 6-4 Mimetism HMG for 21/1.5. Most factions would sacrifice reams of cattle for a gunbot that efficient. I've won entire games off the back of that troop in Vanilla, to say nothing of OSS, where it can join fireteams and have an Apsara crank its BS up to HI levels. But instead of going on and on about how crazy good OSS's attack options are, I'll just list the ones I have used or would use. Let's start with just the ones with to-hit modifiers. Dakini HMG Dakini MULTI Sniper Garuda HMG Garuda Spitfire Garuda Boarding Shotgun (hey, the Garuda's AVA3, what a coincidence...) Proxy Mk2 (either one) Naga Minelayer Naga KHD Andromeda Superior Infiltration SMG Dart E/M Grenades Arjuna Spitfire Sforza (admittedly only once) Proxy Mk1 Now I'm in a different mood. Let's try some MSVs: Marut Deva Spitfire Asura Spitfire Now that that's over with, let's get to the boring, run-of-the mill insanely strong attack pieces: Proxy Mk5 (either one) Shakti KHD Rudras K1 Marksman Rifle Rudras Red Fury Zayin Rebot Proxy Mk4 HMG Yadu NCO HMG Bounty Hunter Red Fury CSU Rifle+LS that roll Enhanced Mobility Netrods (... just kidding) Pick two or three things from the list above and I can all but guarantee you a good time. If you just can't choose I recommend 3 Dakini HMGs.
Kestrel summed it up quite well. I feel that OperationS main strength comes from unit redundancy. You aren't locked into a single attack piece, but have a variety that can jump into play when needed.
Quite nice to screw up enemy camos and have uqual chances against hard TO like Swiss or Hac Tao ^^ (or Avatar)
For an attack model I like the K1 marksmen rifle rudra, anything that has TO, garuda spitfire, Post human body mk 3 or 4 or 5, and any model in a 5 man link. I find that there are plenty of "attack" pieces you just have to be open to using them and willing to invest orders in them. The real question is more about what are you looking for in an attack piece and where the constraint it is causing start to effect your list or your play. Example: I want to attack with a dakini link and a rudra. Well they both get better with assited fire so I may need/want 2 hackers. well now with 2 hackers, I probably want a killer hacker.... some logic later and 9 out of my 10 in battle group 1 are decided and half (or more) of my swc. OR I could go with a dakini link with alternative options (2 spitfire devas or a cyberdancer). The question is investment into making them work not weather they can do it.
You have quite a few options, but nothing is really standard. HMG Dakini. With a link or support it is ridiculously strong for its price. With both it is even better. And it is pretty much disposable. Yadu HMG - sorta ok. BS13 is good but not fantastic, and his link options are quite expensive. But it works. Deva MSV2 - Again, sorta ok. Not really fantastic, but that MSV2 helps a lot Dart - Fantastic toolbox. She does killing well enough. Dasyu - Really, you don't need more than a combi in a TO camo. Asura MULTI - I do not like the spitfire Asura ( bring 2 devas instead). The MULTI rifle one has a reasonable weapon, a marker state and hacking protection, as well as being one of the toughest unit in the game. Same case as the Dart - it is not a main killing piece, but it does it well enough while being a great toolbox. Arjunas - BS12 + mimetism is enough. The bots are fantastic for putting enemy on loose-loose situations, especially when handling HI / TAGs. Shakti - Again, case of a toolbox unit that is just reasonable enough at killing stuff. Garudas - BS 12 + mimetism + dropping in good angles to get people out of position. What I find out in OSS is that you do not have ridiculous dedicated killers like Achilles, or a Kriza Borak. But you have enough killing power on toolbox units that you rarely find yourself needing more.
Not too much more to say. To me, Naga's are a hell attack piece (at least wehere I come from, Acontecimento). That Naga with Monofilament mines or with Boarding Shot Gun. You can use to move over the board an attack "wereever" you want, or recolocate and place as many mines as you can in order to make the table a hell for your rival. Disp 3 + 1 Dart...??? Madness!! :D
Most of my SWC in OSS are going to ARO pieces (daikini sniper, samekh linked, zayin or mk2 sniper). Plus, I like to have son hacking support which cost SWC too. So, mamy main offensive pieces are asura lieut multi rifle hacker, csu breaker, mk5 mk12, proxy mk2 boarding, dart, arjuna and garuda combi. Not long/heavy range weapons, but airborn/forward/infiltration deploiement or cybermask camo and ARO pieces which can also killing things in active turn.
This. Asura (and OSS in general IMO/with my play style) is more about playing objectives than brute force. Garudas have done so much damage for me. REM cores with supportware/Jumper LZ can be brutal too.
Linked MSV2 Deva Spitfire and Linked Dakini HMG/MSR with a Cyberdancer or hacker giving them MML2 are really strong killers. The Proxy Sniper is also really strong, as is the Asura Spitfire (very high cost but potentially devastating) Yadu HMG in a Haris is good, no bs mods or ability to ignore them, but more durability and NCO are good. Rudra in a Haris with MML2 also kicks serious backside. Personally I like a Sniper, a Spitfire and a HMG (or another Sniper or Spitfire) to direct kill, plus more CQB kill options, Naga Minelayer is fantastic for this (sneak up, place mine, circle corner shotgun and mine to face). If you've got effective CQB killers, effective mid range killers and effective long range killers you can overlap them for strong AROs or use them to solve various problems.
You must choose between Apsaras and Supportware, which is the only downside. Still, linked in a 5 man one he goes to BS 16 with the Apsaras, 14+ ignore enemy cover with Supportware... without counting other modifiers. I prefer 2 HMG to even 1 Multi. For MSV duty, pick 2 Devas in a Dakinis Link. The other are too expensive and narrow, and frankly work better in Vanilla where strong singles are the option (yes, Asura Haris... half the list, but better than the Marut beacuse no POS option, even if you can't repair to full strength). I prefer the 2 Dakini HMG, frankly. Same SWC cost, 1 point more, 1 extra regular order, and the Lts in the OSS all can use their order for something useful (specially the Asura Lt2, and then there is the Sukra Strategos 1 who won't link... that one I don't understand). Better yet, 1 Deva spitfire in a Dakini link with a Deva AHD and 2-3 Dakinis, of which at least 1 will be HMG. My problem (and great disappointment) with the OSS is that the only differences it offers Vs Generic Aleph are the Fireteams (of which the only one I find interesting is the Dakinis one, because I have other sectorials...) and the lack of smoke.
