I think the lack of LT and the 10 point Hacking Device are problems for the profile too, but let's at least be genuine with our outrage. The 5 point discounted profile you refer to doesn't have MSV3, which is a not insignificant change, alternatively, Charontid get a plasma rifle with MSV3 and no Hacking Device for 78, and it's comparable to the 68 point MULTI rifle Asura without Hacking Device. Whichever way you cut it, the Charontid is definitely not cheaper than the Asura.
Interplantetary list submission was 2 days ago, there is no way CB was going to remove or adjust profiles people actually have to use in the biggest Spanish tournament (especially when apparently half of the players are running Aleph this year) so save you whining. They'll make the full changes once this ITS season is over (then you can whine).
Speaking to someone who attended last year - they rubbished this as a concept, because CB provides you with printed copies of your Open and Closed lists for you to use and provide to your opponent - ergo there is no need for Army to remain under "old" profiles for the sake of the event.
Maybe the Asura becomes linkable... maybe that is the reason, why she is 78 points and still playable.
"still playable" makes it sound like she was playable to begin with. Don't see why they would be worried about changing the profile before the tournament though, it's not like it'll actually affect anybody. Jokes aside, hopefully they'll make her more playable as I'm one of those people who tries anyway and it usually doesn't go well.
I need her to be awesome again as she's basically the reason i got into Infinity in the first place, having her sit in the sidelines while other more playable troops are used rubs me the wrong way.
Also Dart is not available in Steel Phalanx, which is truly a shame since it would have been the option for a not-quite-infiltration-but-the-next-best-thing and mines. Apparently she would rather hang out with the Pano-boys in Acontecimento than with shiny-butt Achilles
I was disappointed with this as well, she would have fit so well, but if she is going to be in OSS, they did not want any cross polination. Steel Phalanx will continue to be scared about deploying outside their deployment zone.
Well, yeah. Giving a MULTI to the hacker is great and all, but the Asura really needs a look over. The concept is what got me into ALEPH in the first place (Alita battle angel, Motoko Kusanagi ), but the Asura is.... poor. Part of the problem is that some stats are just too expensive ( BS, Armor, WIP ) for what they do. Mimetism is much cheaper than 2 points of BS, and in 90% of the cases it is much better, for example. Another part of the problem is that the game heavily favors specilists instead of generalists. To give another example: A Deva is almost as good of a hacker as a Danavas, and much better in combat with the NWI. However you will never see a hacker Deva on the table because both functions simply do not work very well together. You will see fighting Devas and Havking Danavas, but not the one that is a mixture of fighting and hacking. There is also the factor that for the same pricetag we have Achilles. He is a much better fighter than the Asura. ODD is immensely better than MSV in a firefight where you have enough BS to handle camo modifiers already, and the discount from frenzy is huge in making his profile much more appealing on the same pricerange. The drawback from Frenzy on him is also not that bad - he has ODD to compensate for the lack of cover, has no problems if his impetuous move throws him in CC and no enemy actually wants to let achilles live to see a turn #2. All of that while having a better statline and having a 3rd true wound instead of the nerfed 2W + NWI. Even if the Asura had no competition on the price range, she is a *very* hard sell. She prices like a TAG, but carries much worse weaponry, much less protection and pretty much all TAGs have specialists inside them right now. And TAGs are meh at the best cases already.
Even vs Hector she is debatable. Hector is hard to sell too, but he has some points: only plasma rifle (and this weapon is damn good), x-visor that negates the weapon short range, lieutenant and strategos 1 while some of Asura's profiles can't be Lt, truly good CC fighter (not that he wants to go in melee range, but rather that it discourages the opponent to even try - and he can kill that AC2). Let's see the full profile list when the sectorial will be there.
The thing is hector can shoot his way out of the DZ with x-visor, he and Achilles both have smoke to get moving. As it is Asuras are a tag that I need to bring long range firepower to support, they only have 2 wounds, and have a limited use visor as thier mod staking advantage. Multi Marksmen rifle would have made things interesting, as it is you need to drop at least another 30 points in support models for her to be useful. Love the model though and will still run for funsis.
Depends, Asura HD+ is very valuable with HMG or MSR dakinis - she can cover the short range better than any dakinis, thanks to her MULTI weapon, while buffed dakinis are better at long range but vulnerables at short range. Basically the dakinis do the long range shoot (HMG) and cover (MSR) while she cleans camos and other midfield fighters and go to the objectives. The problem is that it would be better with a Lt. profile for the extra order, since she can use it in multiple ways.
One more profile no one will ever play. I see precisly no resaon at all to take her in lieu of Achilleus...
I have to admit that Yadu profile in army right now is a really nice multirifle profile. No hacking device but emarat and drop bears, with an effective 2 wounds looks like a nice model to use the LT order on.
