About a year ago the profiles pdf was updated with a nice little note under the Deva section:
"Note, Devas with G:Sync'd devabots cannot be part of a fireteam"

It was quickly replaced, but not before it was noted and commented upon.

A KHD Danavas would be pretty cool, though I'd like more repeater/pitcher support for it, seeing as Danavas are not a unit that wants to be running up into control range of stuff in the midfield. And while I was only really offhandedly suggesting turning the Combi into an SMG for something ALEPH-ish like NWI, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. It's not like I ever use my Danavas to shoot anything. The only thing it ever fires is its pitcher. It genuinely does not need that Combi Rifle.

Anyway, since we're talking fireteams and this is the designated "whine about how bad the Asura is" thread, I feel like giving it the capability to join a Yadu haris could be really cool. Yadu are supposed to be fireteam glue according to Bostria and that extra Burst can be real useful.

I asked that when I first saw they having AHD. But frankly, I simply ignore the nearly useless profile (the upgrade program is the only useful thing it has, but not having cybermask means it's naked and damned... so 2 points and gets turned into H+).

Simply put, a Danavas KHD would mean autoinclude in any list with Dakinis, because it would be the cheapest, safest and most optimized of all (no Camo levels like the Naga, and 8-9 points cheaper => 1-2 extra orders) and more important, since the Posthuman Hacker is 14 pts, no SWC cost in an army where such cost is a leisure.

Then I see Kerr Nau... or Bit & Kiss, and know balance is not all that appreciated.

Meh, as it was mentioned, she costs more than 2 Dakini HMG. So the question is how much will the Apsara buff Aleph's remotes, frankly. If it's a passive skill, then you will dread the Dakinis and the cheerleading remotes. If not...
    Useful for Limited Insertion, however.

Well, you wear power armor. Good Nomads are defenseless, tranquilized citizens... like disconnected Pupniks XDDD

Maybe for the AHD profile, the H+ certainly needs to stay in Cybermask to survive enemy hacking, and that reacts poorly with Fireteams.

Since Dakinis dont have a repeater, wouldnt it be nice to have hd+ for buffing? I think it might be good in a defensive Link.

No, because using linked Hacker means the entire link activates and generates AROs. Better that Hackers are unlinked.

Fair warning, disconnected Pupniks are anything short of tranquil. You ever had to deal with one without a Chimera around? Yea, didn't think so. *That's* the reason I wear power armor. =O

The last 2 times I faced Pupniks, I just dealt with the Chimera. 1st time was a long range Blitzen that disconnected them, and the last time was a Boarding Shotgun applied liberally to the Chimera's back before using her body unconscious body to complete my Extreme Prejudice classified :D

That's why the ones taken out of the fighting rings have the restrictive control implant... unless the Chimera authorizes it, they can do nothing XD

A HD+ with Maestro? Can do most of what a KHD can do and is the best piece of hacking equipment available. Why should ALEPH skimp on the dedicated hacker's hacking equipment?

More importantly, why do you have to moan about something all the time?
Picking a hill to die on feels epic and all, but letting the small things slide makes life much happier.

Key point, that! The fighting ring beasties are something else.

/ooc: I believe it's the N3 fluff book that has a blurb about a pupnik killing its owner. They're something else. =O

But the problem is, HD+ is good all around tool, but even with Maestro it's only middling at killing part. If you bother reading Danavas lore, it's it's all about killing. And no, HD+ with Maestro can't do most of KHD, it can basically survive. Maybe, if the dice are nice to you and they're not hacking you through their repeater.
There's plenty of hills I've let go, but at some point you have to stand for something. I don't play this game just so I can roll dice, I play it because I'm invested in the lore and faction. When a garbage comes along that dashes any hope of improvement to units that need it (Deva Hacker), and is itself ill fitting to its lore (and also my perceived lore of Aleph in general), I will die on that hill.

I have read it. Without generalising it to one idea or "feel" which I then insist it has to be what it has to be like. I definitely didn't then moan on a forum about all the ways it doesn't fit the one generalised feel I didn't conclude it has to be all about.

Danavas are not all about killing. They monitor the datasphere too, then find offenders, dispose of them and then scour the datashpere to remove any trace of them.
How are the davanas doing all that monitoring and hacking of devices to remove data with a KHD?

Yet here you are, complaining about something. ^^
How are they doing it without the special firewall avoidance protocols available only to KHDs? You do realise firewalls will protect all data along the way?

Frankly, I'm quite unhappy with their Gestapo-reference, but whatever.

Oh right! Hacking active enemy troopers on a battlefield is the same as monitoring and curating the datasphere! Not like you're under more pressure and enemy troopers would be more aware of your presence than civilians. At. All.

I'll also be sure to remember that a - 3 MOD makes a stat of 15 completely ineffective! Nothing has BS that high, so my dakini are invincible!

If there is a point somewhere hidden in here, I fail to find it. Are you saying that we cannot infer what equipment units should have based on their lore? Or that KHD is completely unable to track and monitor the net for enemies? Or?
ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED : LOGICAL FALLACY: STRAWMAN! :muscle:

Let me be clear about my position:
Danavas lore is all about hunting down hackers. She is not equipped with the best adapted HD type for that (KHD). Instead, she has a HD+ with additional upgrade program to make her slightly better at fighting other hackers, but which also effectively invalidates loadout of another iconic unit (Deva Hacker).

just to make sure we are all on the same page... Danavas are not WIP 15 [idle desire for a clear difference, ok], but 14. They have BTS 3, too. So nope, not so great (the Asura H+ had to keep something, frankly). What is quite baffling is the CC tax they pay, when something more invested in the datasphere than the real world would simply grab an Electric Pulse and have CC8 or so...

Actually the difference beetwen Danavas HD+Maestro vs KHD is that she actually gets a "harder" killing program (unless you are hitting some NWI hacker), and she's losign "free bypas of enemy firewall". (while getting full advantage of HD programs)

Maestro is more "win the face-to-face" than killing. It's damage 14 Breaker, which is nice but significantly subpar to Redrums/Sucker Punch damage 16 Double Trouble (at least she has access to Sucker Punch). Skullbuster and Trinity are also damage 16s, one Breaker, other Shock.

Note, I'm not saying Maestro is bad, or even that Danavas isn't good at fighting Hackers. But she is not as good as she could be at killing them, which is what lore talks about.

    Fine, I'll spell it out.
Danavas. Needs. Hacking. Programs. Other. Than. SWORD. To. Fulfill. All. The. Described. Functions.

Obviously I use exaggerated sarcasm in all my serious logical debates.

Almost like she needs some versatility because she isn't only an assassin.
