Interesting. I was not expecting this at all. Given their lore as sort of fast response units that dash ahead and do daring heroic stuff, I was expecting them to have a more streamlined look, possibly without helmets or with longer coats that could be posed so as to better indicate rapid movement. Overall it's rather nice, though I'm not sure why they have those fancy visors. Am I tweaking out here or do Arjunas lack any vision based special equipment? I do like the what seems new standard look for ALEPH helmets, and the E/Marat design is sexy as all hell.
What I'm interested in, is what the exact composition will look like. Blister with 1 Arjuna/1 Kiranbot? Box with two of each? I'd really like for it to be the latter, with a spare weapon hand to make the third loadout.
I'm kinda hoping we end up with at least four Kiranbot models, so you could feasibly run two Arjunas with both their robo bodyguards.
Ah, I've been thinking and again. Arjuna is kinda what I wanted for Aleph, except in exactly the bad way. The basic controller is too meh (not bad, just not exciting or Alephy enough in my opinion), and the fact it has bots is exactly the thing I wanted, except I don't like E/Marats. They hurt exactly the units I don't want to hurt and now they actually don't do anything important against units that were already good (Irregular/Impetuous units like Ghazi or Dog Warriors - now Dog Warriors just laugh at them). Ah, damn it CB.
Also, I just realised it does not have any terrain skills, so enjoy that 2-0 move every time you see a Dazer!
While Dazers seem annoying, personally, I don't see them as so troublesome for Arjunas. Despite their impressive MOV and ability to start a little further up the field, I've actually gotten much more use out of proxying these guys as defensive pieces. People do not like the idea of running around a corner and being immediately hit by two E/Marats, especially if that means risking a fireteam. Generally I've only used them to push into enemy lines when I see a prime opportunity to put my opponent into LoL. If they can get closer they might actually be pretty good at disabling stuff hiding behind Dazers. E/Marats don't care about Saturation, after all.
Scylla with NWI, exactly. Well, they're only going to be defensive pieces if there is Dazer on the field. And while they're okay for that, I'd much rather have Heavy Flamethrowers than E/Marats, especially for that purpose. That E/Marat cannot hit something it doesn't see.
Get Assisted Fire up, now the E/Marat is threatening to everything! I think he means targeting the Dazer to splash a Template on to other troopers, especially if those other troopers are in Camo/TO!
True, but also too much effort. There's usually better options for Assisted Fire. If someone is stupid enough to place Dazer in a position where you could do such a thing, it really doesn't matter what weapon you have.
If I recall correctly, Dazers don't block LoF, do they? They just create Very Difficult Terrain and Saturation, which means movement penalties and -1 Burst. This is hilarious and very powerful, I've used it to instantly delete a core link. That said, it's situational as hell and I wouldn't get used to abusing it, since it seems like the kind of thing that might get errata'd out later.
Yes, but the Dazer itself should be deployed somewhere where you'd need to spent 7 Orders with Aryuna to be able to target it. They're not gonna just place it in open sight, since Dazer effect passes through scenery, it's gonna be placed in such a way you cannot see it until you get in enemy half of the board.
Oh, I see, you're talking about targeting the Dazer itself. I'm talking about targeting things using part of the Dazer's Saturation Zone to even ARO odds up.
That doesn't really help you, since if they shoot you, they'll eat your hit anyway, and if they Dodge, Dazers Saturation zone doesn't really affect you. I guess they'll have less chance to kill the bot if they shoot, but i don't think that's a major difference.
In all fairness, with the new TI, what does stop dog warriors? (A: viral, though if they chose to ignore the em effect you at least hit them with normal damage instead, small consolation...). I'm really not a big fan of the new TI fwiw, but I wouldn't blame Arjuna or Kiran bots for it.
Nah, I was of opinion that Kiranbots were useless against Dog Warriors even before this latest change. They get 2 Orders for themselves, Isolating them was... Of limited effect anyway. So in a way, I think this actually makes them better than before. Still bad though, because Ghazi and similar units still don't care.
I like the design, but what I would *really* like would be to find a place for it in my OSS lists. Its not like it is a bad unit, but it fights against so much stuff for its spot that it isn't fun...
