Using the Anaconda sounds like a terrible idea. I think the players really don't want that to be the case. If they were going to make the anaconda the TAG, faction wide they would have done it already. And from a business stand point that seems like an awful decision. Who's going to get excited and go buy a new sculpt of a shitty TAG they already don't want. I feel with all the hype they've been generating about the TAG raid game they're trying to make. They'd be idiots to reveal that the big Ariadnan surprise is a lame Anaconda.
Would asume the Ariadna TAG profile will arrive with the release of the Ariadna TAG box (in december/january.)
That's what happens for the Original 4 factions, the TAGs didn't get added to the army builder for C1 until TAGvember.
Then don't use it. The fact of the matter is its an option we're being left without, that ITS missions are often designed around, which has led to band aid fixes like "heavyweight lets you do it too" or "but you have mercs". It doesn't even ad unique flavour anymore, the Blackjack was supposed to be a heavy infantryman leaning into tag territory with it's size, and that was immediately invalidated by the Al Fasid doing the job better with a model actually available(I'm sure a lot more than just me used it as proxy for the year it took to get the BJ), Then the Kriza, Taskmaster, Daiyokai etc all popped up, now the BJ isn't so much a super heavy infantry as a big bulky joke that's been outdone by everything in it's class, including a unit based on the same armour chassis... Or it'll be the Polaris team and we get to have this conversation again every new Ariadna release for another 10 years...
Even if it's not the other bearpode, it doesn't mean it'll be a tag, or even that we'll actually get a tag pack equivalent... Edit: it seems we are getting the equivalent, but no matter how I squint, I can't convince meyself that says "tag"
Well that's good news, but I think its a better plan not going to get excited until the glue is curing...
I understand your pessimism, but I think you’re probably wrong. I think it’s probably going to be something entirely new and awesome. It says TAG and I believe it will be. I don’t think it will be the Anaconda, I think it will be a homegrown Ariadna unique TAG. (No facts, just optimism) Also, playing around on C1 Army builder, it is VERY difficult to build a 30pt list. You can, but it is hard to do so and also include needed specialists or utility pieces (doc/engineer/light camo pieces). It really NEEDS a 6-9 point beefcake of a model. Seeing the S8 template in the one picture makes me hopeful that we may well get it.
Way back on the forums there was a speculation thread on the RM100, since it is like the Ariadnan sasquatch. I guess it's finally happening. An idea that was tossed around was it has more in common with an oversized traktor mul/drone tank than a modern tag.
The tank idea would be pretty bad for gameplay though, either you have a very limited mobility large expensive unit or you have a tank that can climb walls... Also it's either going to be underpowered for what a tank should be against small arms, or pretty much invincible unless the exact right tools to deal with it are brought.
I don't see a mini-tank "TAG" being much different in size or function than a Maghariba Guard. If you can accept the idea that future weapons are better than modern weapons, I don't know why it wouldn't make sense they could fight a tank. Also, if not a true "tank," they could still go for some type of small armored support vehicle. Something like an armored car with a turret would be pretty killer IMO.
