I love it! The texture on the coat looks amazing – and like an amazing lot of work XD One thing I have to say, especially when looking at your Hundun: I feel your minis could benefit a lot from blacklining. All your surfaces are wonderfully smoothly highlighted, but the lack of distinct lining takes away from their crispness – at least in my opinion. Do you avoid it on purpose or not?
I don’t do black lining often. Not since the 90s painting old GW models. It’s a bit of an outdated technique.
I still do it too on occasion. It's just that in the 90s I did it on everything as that was the trend back then. Now I prefer to use the natural shade colour instead of black lining for the most part. :-)
Very well done. I recently used oil colors for "blacklining". Very pleasant to use, but some use of chemicals required.
Dear @archangeleong, what’s your palette for your whites on the Hundun and what’s your palette for the blacks and how you highlight the black without stepping on the toes of the darks of the white? You’re my hero.
Thanks :-) I use the following colours for whites and blacks: White is done with base of sky grey, shading with sea grey and sometimes dark lines with intermediate blue. All the work is done with the greys first. After this I highlight with white and wash/blend white over most of the area. Black is started with a black base, dark grey base over most of the raised areas. Then wash black over to blend colours. Then work up with dark grey again mixed with London grey. I stop here when doing clothes. But for armor and shiny surfaces I will continue the highlights with pure London grey, then sea grey and finally spots of sky grey for reflected light.

YU JING WHITE BANNER ARMY: Guiláng Skirmisher Guiláng Skirmisher Nice model to paint. Simple design who's shotgun does all the talking. Cloak was fun to paint.
INFINITY YU JING WHITE BANNER ARMY: Jujak Korean Shock Regiment Jujak KSR My favourite new Yu Jing Design (Reminds me of the armour from Dead Space). I felt like this guy deserved his own national Korean colours rather than the standard Yu Jing yellow/orange so I went for a red, blue and yellow scheme. This colour combo has been used on traditional Korean soldiers throughout the ages. I just had to decide how to break up those colours across the model and in doing so also ended up adding a bit of white and black for a total of the five main colours. All of which, incidentally, are the main traditional colours of Korea, the 오방색 (obangsaek). It's convenient that the yellow ties the model to the rest of the white banner army. Burn baby burn!
Oh boy! It looks amazing! Love the muted tones of the colors you picked. And you did an excellent job spreading the colors over the model. Definitely a unique and wonderful paintjob!
