So there is supposed to be a CB blog post today to calm down Yu Jing players right? It's already 5 AM in Vigo, what's everyone doing?
I think they just said this week (or at least that is what Aldo conveyed since they only told the Spanish side of the forum about the upcoming article).
I found delightful when people here complain on limited edition stuff because it`s limited. You know, it`s described in name, "limited". Also I lost to MRRF last tournament. I guess I`m doing something wrong here, hope time`n`space continuum won`t be warped.
I find it delightful when people completely miss the point, but think they have a pithy comeback. People have a problem that there are limited and exclusive minis even in existence, Not that something that is called limited is limited. Geesh that's just ridiculous.
From a marketing perspective it works with me, as it goes sheesh its limited gotta buy, would buy it later anyway... So I get trapped everytime.
Well thank you for proving my point. There are a lot of limited edition miniatures in the world, plenty of Kickstarter exclusives for example, or Privateer Press mystery crates, or GW limited editions to celebrate some ridiculous date. But of course it doesn`t matter because some people think in another manner. Let`s throw whole practice of collecting and value of rare/limited/special edition miniatures to trashbin because some people are mildly offended on getting regular toys, not exclusive ones. There are solutions anyway if you miss some limited run. Buy at ebay. Buy from some buddy from community. (Next is not good practice but could fulfill thirst of possession) Lend an unpainted mini and recast it. If you really want something you`ll find a way. * For reference, "you" is general addressing here, not personal.
I can see how limited Miniatures as pre order incentives don't jive well with people, but at the same time I can totally see the appeal for both CB and the customers. There is something to be said for the urge to collect and own things other people don't/can't have. It might seem silly, but exclusivity can be a driving factor.
Neither of these are good solutions. One is not even necessarily legal. The key is to make the limited edition item not a vital component of the product. Currently, the limited edition JSA spec op is the only product of this unit, meaning it's a bad limited edition. The various limited editions of Mushashi are good limited editions, because Mushashi has a general release.
I agree on all statements. But how we could see so far "new" limited edition miniatures have eventually received regular release. As for Armand and Krakot. Joan had two releases before limited appears. I expect same with JSA spec-op and Jager. Some may appeal of more appealing LE sculpts but that`s 1) matter of opinion, 2) marketing trick.
One other thing about JSA spec-op - preorder is only way to present new spec-op for new faction without release schedule disruption. But honestly I`d better bought blister with weapon sprue, that`s true.
