[QUOTE=" [/QUOTE] What is that weapon the Zhanshi is holding? It's not a spitfire, the barrel is different. It's also not a breaker combi, red fury, boarding shotgun, multirifle or an HMG. Maybe Combi + LGL?
It has been known for some time that a new, unexpected, JSA unit was coming this year. Right now that looks like the Hayabusa was somewhat real after all...
We might. Chin up, Weeaboos. At least you'll be getting re-sculpted Keisotsu minis. That is 100% win right there. Maybe even a Sailor Moon Spec Op. Oooh, you'll like that. The Invincible army gets a 2 wound combat jumper. That'll be nasty. Not Caskuda nasty, but it'll do.
The Caskuda wasn't so nasty, the explosion rule made sure the players always dropped them in a difficult situation, I still remember that one time I saw one jump over a Domaru fireteam, some Domaru took a wound due to de explosion, but the cockroach turned into confetti when the samurai AROed with berserk.
I don't think Ariadna will be part of a 2 player box due to the issue where they cost fewer points. See their USAriadna box being about 200pts instead of the usual 300pts.
I do not think cost would be an issue. Both two-player boxes are just the vanilla starter + one extra model. Ariadna will eventually get a new vanilla starter (probably with the next two-player box, like Haqqislam and Yu Jing did!), so will be perfectly qualified. The rulebooks in the starter boxes use simplified rules anyway, so many possible units they could be facing are likely to lose expensive rules and equipment making it a fairer match-up.
well, if they dont put Ariadna in the 2 player box, and they don't put vedic in since CB has stated before that they don't want Aleph in a 2-player box, do you think maybe they would do like an Icestorm part 2 (can call it whatever), but its tugunska versus varuna?
I crunched some numbers not too long ago, and a Kazakh v. OSS box is eminently doable from the perspective of points. Just to give an example (and assume that each army would get a new unit exclusive to the box and usable in their new sectorials): Ariadna ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 LINE KAZAK (Forward Observer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) LINE KAZAK (Forward Observer) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) LINE KAZAK Paramedic (MediKit) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) VETERAN KAZAK Lieutenant AP Rifle, Light Flamethrower / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37) TANKHUNTER Portable Autocannon, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 34) SCOUT Ojotnik, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 29) 1.5 SWC | 131 Points Open in Infinity Army ALEPH ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 DEVA (Sensor) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 24) DAKINI Tacbot Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 15) DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13) GARUDA Tacbot Spitfire / Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 28) DASYU MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 42) 3 SWC | 135 Points Open in Infinity Army Now I realize you can quarrel with these load outs, but my point is simply that this could be done. Will it? Only CB knows.
Ilegal listbuilding, for one, as Aleph's side has no hacker. We could add how horribly balanced it is, as the Ariadnan player has no way to compensate all those MODs on the Aleph side. It is quite atrocious.
That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense IMO. Starter sets are really more for new players: Why re-tread the same factions in them during the same edition? Also, where's the source for this oft-claimed, er, claim about ALEPH in starters? Never seen the actual origin of it all. Plus, times change. Ideas shift. Bostria Says Stuff. Just because it was the plan yesterday don't mean it's the plan next week.
I can remember Bostria saying it last year in a seminar. Quite doubtful that it would change within a year.
Quite! Anyway, if you tinker you can get a much better outcome, I didn't say these were optimal, I just tossed them together. Also, if you assume new units, that also changes things. New profiles also make a difference. Remember the Kamau before and after? There are no Kazakh units with MSV currently in the game, but it's not crazy to imagine MSV1 getting attached to a Vet. Kazakh or a Scout. Dakinis could also get overhauled. And there's a chance that CB will give sectorials exclusive profiles that we haven't seen yet (as has been advertised for Varuna ORCs). My point was very basic and remains the same: the points values of these troops as they are now aren't so far apart as to make a 2-player box impossible.
I still say that AR vs CA seems more likely given the campaign is on Dawn this year and those two factions aren't in a 2 player starter yet and don't have the "its an advanced army not intended for new players" stink.
I watched the Cancon video seminar last night and I'd say that Varuna is at least definitely getting a starter or army box this year, he did show the profile for the ORC, but he also mentioned when asked that the old ORC with HMG would get a resculpt with the Varuna ORC release.
Yeah for most people it's not a huge development from gameplay perspective. But it's still a huge development from lore perspective. Seems like they are finally moving the story forward (hopefully).
Have I understood correctly if the general theory right now is that JSA will be its own faction & that all Japanese units will disappear from vanilla Yu jing? That'd suck major balls, lore progress or not.
Complete loss of JSA would do strange things to the faction, but a rebellion/merc splinter group is less unlikely. Might mean we see another Ko Dali situation, though.
First of all there actually isn't anything to concrete to understand. There has only been teasers and rumors so far. Secondly I really doubt all Jap profiles will get removed from YJ. What I would love to see is Japanese getting separated in two groups. JSA becomes a non aligned army with revolutionaries. While vanilla YJ and other sectorials keep their Japanese profiles through loyalists.
