Right, sorry. Three models and one profile, then (however, I think that "one profile" was the only one to come out since the presentation of the faction on HSN2?)
You are still very optimistic, before the proxies box 2, the "newest" release were the Aleph High Functionary in 2016 and the support pack... in 2013. Counting in number of miniatures, Aleph Vedic had 8 minis released in 5 years, couting in references, we had 5 references in 5 years (including our HVT)
Vedic are a sectorial though, and one that isn't even out yet. Aleph has been alright for releases in general (less than most, but not Tohaa level).
Even on the greek side, it was not a lot : only Andromeda and the thorakitai box in 2 years Regarding news don't forget the repack : naga repack, ekdromoi repack, dactyl repack and army box (which is a big repack). We had 10 "news" on 2 years, including 4 repack and 2 new sclupt of Garuda (because we really needed to have 4 differents garuda). I don't feel the love here. PS : in the same period, Tohaa received Kaauri (2 blister), sukeul (2 blisters), gorgos pilot, neema resculpt and Kosuil (BS). In terme of minis, it's 8 news and 1 resculpt for tohaa vs 11 news and 2 resculpt (garuda) for Aleph. We are not in a muche better place.
Hey I mainly play tohaa and because of the low model count I started shasvasti When selecting a faction to play my main reason is: it has to be alien. I don't like the look of male morats so I don't wanted to start CA. Back when I started (3 years ago) ppl said shasvasti is going to be updated so I took tohaa (and because of the tohaamon) I don't complain anymore and I am just happy to play :D
That includes the Achillies two pack and Hector right? Which were both huge deals tactics wise and a big splash of marketing. Tohaa definitely doesn't get the same love. My biggest worry though about Tohaa is actually the meta data. We know that they looked at peoples list building for their JSA decisions. I hope they are not looking at Tohaa and saying "no one is using any Sakiels except for the Viral and the Spitfire, so we don't need more of those." I know a lot of players that only use models for which there are sculpts, and that definetly would skew their data into thinking people dont want new sculpts/resculpts. That said, they have tended to add profiles that match their future box plans, so maybe Sakiels are in an ok place. Has CB talked about how they produce lines? Like is it one artist has one faction? Or do they spread it around? I could see there being a backlog if whoever is in charge of Tohaa has another large project taking their time, or if multiple Kaauri/Domaru scale issues have slowed down the whole line.
I do find the complaints that an unreleased Sectorial isn't getting many releases a little... strange. I mean, Varuna and the Khanate also aren't getting much love, neither are the Exrah or the third Alien faction!
The Domaru scale issue just had CB reschedule the releases, and the Domaru release was changed to a bit later while another thing was released in its place. With the Kawaii Sentinels and the Kerail sculpts, they released the models despite not representing correctly their profiles: Kawaii too big, Kerail doesn't carry Symbiont Armour and the Box Contents doesn't match a legal profile. That's the level of "care" Tohaa gets.
Both are more than 2 years old now, so answer is no. I compared Aleph and Tohaa both for a 24 months period.
If you add hector and achilles for Aleph, then you have to add the kerail for tohaa, making it 11 new mini and 1 resculpt for tohaa vs 13 new mini and 2 resculpt for Aleph (since January 2016). The difference is even smaller.
The problem I had with the data provided is how people decided it was good data, objective data, and a justification. As was noted, the % of use and presence was dominated by the units in the Red Veil, yet no mention of that little detail was made. For me, it fouls the whole presentation. As for Tohaa, it's less important to look at % of use and how many units of that type are present, and more about combinations... which is even harder and demands lots of guesswork since most Tohaa units like with any other, thus being hard to get a feel of what works and how. That's because you didn't thought about it very much. Aleph currently has 4 types of units: the Assault SubSection (the Greeks), the Support Subsection (Sophotect, servitors and common remotes), the Posthuman, and the Operations SubSection (Vedic). This 4 groups get divided, essentially, into 2: greeks & their support (servitors and common remotes, since they use their own doctors and engineers), and Vedic & their support (the whole support subsection is included here), with the posthumans more than likely present on Vedic, or left behind to hang until a theoretically Posthuman sectorial comes along (which very likely, while awesome and very broken, would also be a pain in the arse to manage thanks to Jumper, and would need to borrow troops from Vedic anyway). So, in essence, any release for Aleph goes either to Vedic, the Greeks, or is a Posthuman. And as I mentioned, it's been assumed than Posthumans will be inside Vedic. By the way, it's possible that O-12 will be a sectorial under Aleph (but not giving non-Aleph units to Vanilla), since finding a third sectorial could be problematic and NA2 would be too bloated with more than five or six sectorials.
It could also mean that players love to play with new shiny sculpts not old ones. % data is at least some data, not bare sales management decision.
As of this point there is no such Sectorial as Vedic. Any Aleph release is either for Vanilla players, or Vanilla and Steel Phalanx players.
Well that would be exact same case as Red Veil, Yu Jing part looks just as new sectorial (WB or IA I don`t know).
The YJ starter from RV is just vanilla (I'm pretty sure. There's been too much conflicting info with what YJ models will end up where). The Haqq side doubles as the Ramah starter, though.
