Hey, this is my review/usage of the Anaconda. I have close to 15 games with her by now, and have used TAGs quite a bit in the past. I also talked so much BS I had to back this unit up.

    Here's the link:
    https://aenemyspotted.wordpress.com/2018/08/29/anaconda-unit-guide/

Let me know how you guys have used the Anaconda, and send me pictures of her kicking ass to potentially win a blister. That's not even a promotion thing, I just think this unit is amazing.

Also can we discuss the Anaconda here? Thanks

    That was an interesting read.
I did look into the Anaconda back when I was curious about FRRM.

Honestly, the way I see the Anaconda... it reminds me a lot of the Gecko TAG.

    5.5 SWC | 233 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

Both being relatively similar in durability ( Anaconda ARM/BTS 6/6, Gecko ARM/BTS 5/6. ). Main difference here would be that the Gecko has 1 more STR, but the Anaconda spits out it's Operator when it dies, so there is that...
What I can truly say though... the Anaconda is truly the deadlier TAG IMO. Granted, some may say the loss of a pilot specialist is pretty significant, but I can also say ''True, but having a pilot that can fight decently ( By TAG pilot standards. ) and automatically pops out of the TAG once it goes down is also pretty great.''

Now, as for the Anaconda on its own merits... I'd say it's a worthy consideration for ''most'' factions if Soldiers of Fortune is permitted ( I'd say Nomads, especially Corregidor, have little use for the Anaconda due to having two VERY similar TAGs natively available: Geckos and Iguanas. Other than that, i suppose there is an argument for PanO not taking the Anaconda due to having HI for the same or similar cost that can compete lethality wise... but the Anaconda is WAY cheaper than any of their TAGs, so there is that. ), simply due to it being a very solid TAG for the cost of a higher end HI ( For all the advantages and disadvantages being a TAG brings. ), even if it does take away half your SWC budget that way and leaves you with only 11/13 points for other mercs. For factions that can take it natively though, namely Starco, FRRM and Druze... well, I'd say it's a pretty great idea too, although the Anaconda does compete with Scarface in Druze somewhat ( Though, in all honesty, I'd be stupid enough to try taking both. ). It's combat potential is pretty great all things considered for what it costs, plus has a decently versatile armament AND once it will inevitably go down in a blaze of blood and glory... you still have a BS 12 LI Spitfire safely tucked away under some smoke. Worst case scenario, you still have a BS12 Spitfire on suppressive mode.

Although, I must say that I would probably prefer the Spitfire version over the HMG one, for three reasons: The Operator also uses a Spitfire, so they'll be in the same relative range band as the Anaconda was in the event the Operator will need to try finishing the job, it has a LFT instead of a Chain-Colt ( Which allows for many more things to be threatened by it, namely all things Camo or ODD or Burnable. ), and I would generally prefer a Spitfire on such an aggressive unit that I want to shove far up the field ( Plus TAGs inately having Fatality Lv1 makes it so the Spitfire has non-TAG HMG damage, so yay. ).

All in all, I'd say I'd gladly make use of such a unit. My slight bias towards making single combat group lists might further assist in that too, I suppose.

That, and I love big suits of mechanized armor, HI or TAG, and I have a hard time lying.

Yeah HMG is garbage due to range bands and density of terrain in my meta. You want to be in that sweet spot in the midfield anyways. Plus lighting Tohaa on fire is a sure way to make them quit the game.

Competition with Scarface is a whole other subject. In my opinion when it comes to list building in Druze it's not a unit to unit comparison. More for list building, so DA missions are usually Anaconda, and Specialist BS are for Scarface/Cordelia.

But lets be real, that HRL is bloat, frenzy, and the lack of DTW make scarface much more subpar than at first look. Much more of a newer player pick/reliability crutch. The panzerfaust is a mans/veterans weapon, and makes the perfect last ditch weapon.
    Plus Cordelia aint thicc.

Yeah, I kind of find the HRL on the Druze Scarface to be kind of odd. Not bad, per say, but just... odd. I'd probably prefer a Panzerfaust most of the time, unless I was facing lots of aggressive fireteams, at which point... I suppose the Fire template might be preferable? Frenzy helps make Scarface cheaper though, and going regular Impetous isn't too bad ( Depending on the terrain, the loss of benefiting from cover might be moot due to being big enough that enemies get to see you outside cover more often than not. ). Lack of a DTW though... now that does sting. Removes the ability to trade around.

I wouldn't call it a perfect last ditch weapon, but I would call it a good ARO weapon for whenever something too tough for a Mk12 pops up.

Honestly the biggest weakness of the pair, really.

    LoL, you trolling again? :D

I'm pretty sure I recognize this nonsense from WGC. ;)

I think my new favorite term is "reliability crutch" though...

"Hey noob, why you going to take that reliable unit? Don't you want a challenge?"

"WTF! Why aren't you going to shoot my ODD unit in cover and suppressive fire with your combi instead of your Heavy Flamethrower? Combi not reliable enough for you? Damn sissy and your reliability crutch!"

Damn you caught me lmao. At some point our play group decided to just do hard mode with everything which is what lead me to using the Anaconda in the first place. Because it's still "Not your list, it's you" for Infinity. Plus when you win with some of these garbage unit picks you can just troll the hell out of it. Not necessarily your opponent, because we're not dicks. But just that jaded post ironic viewpoint you get after a while.

For real though, Scarface is a more reliable pick. But play wise is actually weaker in my opinion. You have to have the right mindset for usage, and he is much more of an assault unit. When I play him I'm CC'ing nerds because I get him so far up the board.

Visuals help too. Scarface dual wielding is dumb as hell.
But that Anaconda just laying out that m240 fire from behind a wall; while some Druze advance towards the objective is just too bad ass in my mind.

I like the Ramhorn TAG aesthetic, but they did kind of screw it up with that stupid pose and the dual wielding on Scarface. The panzerfaust pistol almost makes up for it.... almost....

That's why I just made my own. The Cutter is OG as frick. And the upper body is almost as disproportional as I wish mine was in real life.

I was more so referring to play style, but this works too!

I would love to see a scarface resculpt with their current capabilities (and a different pose). I might even forgive the same scarface for Cordelia to get a new model lol.

As far as the HRL is concerned, it's kinda a side grade, but I like it. I don't think it's the best thing in the world, but I can feel the psychological pressure it puts on opponents to spread units out. I also like HRLs as an active turn weapon if it's in a link or on a platform that can take a wound if it rolls poorly.

...Maybe I'm biased because watching people sweat at potential fire ammo is more fun for me than the "oh ****" factor from exolosive + AP, but I digress

The impact template alone makes the DBS Scarface a different animal. Yeah it's a sidegrade, but the template does keep enemy fireteam's movement honest and gives Scarface the ability to go after clustered targets in the active.

I play him advancing and killing, but then stopping to go on suppression fire in cover while still in range of his support (hunz, saito, or Peacemaker). If he kills something in the reactive, then just reform the fireteam prior to the impetuous phase with Cordellia and he gets to ignore frenzy.

I haven't had an opportunity where I felt running the Anaconda was the right call, but I barley run Scarface either. I'm totally biased towards Scarface too; when he was a pending new release he was a mini I wanted to play desperately but then Infinity stopped being played in my area for a few years. When Infinity came back on strong it was the first mini I purchased... that was for QK, now that DBS is out he's just iconic for them.

But seriously, the Anaconda is a great midfield gun fighter with a wide variety of weapons. Not if, but when you lose the Anaconda, the smoke screen will almost guarantee the operator survives and you keep the order and the points AND it's cheap enough that you will still have more to fight with when it gets taken out. Before Druze, i mostly played NCA and used the Anaconda as a mercenary in friendly games. a cheap, midfield TAG performs very well in a sectorial that benefits alot from this.
