It takes you just 6-8 hours for a mini?!? That's insanely fast for that level of quality. Kudos to you mate!
Lovely stuff Azard. I am happy to have found your work again since the last forum shut down. Really rich tones with such warmth. apart from the excellent painting, these are the two main reasons why I like your work. You make the color of my miniatures so cold and icy haha.. I am having trouble opening the thumbnails in the screen. Anyone else had this issue? They just don't open for some strange reason. Cheers
Sorry to hear of issues with my thumbnails, and thank you all for nice words. I am working on a mini that isn't turning out how I wanted. I'm not using it to practice stuff o havnt done much, namely, blue armour, and female faces. I think the face is alright but the armour is meh... Constructive criticism in this instance appreciated! @TheMethOfCookingArt @maru Any ideas on the armour and female faces follows?
First of all i can see nothing thats meh here. Its great painting as always. Maybe its just the balance between shadowcolor, midtone and highlight that makes you feel something doesnt look right. For example the armourplates on her belly are great balanced. Try this on her breasts too. There is more dark which eats the midblue and then cames the highlight. Lighten up the dark with midtone and we will see. The face is awesome. Thats hard to paint this girls in infinity.
yes and no - light imitates reflection by painting it white - and it looks good as long as whole mini is treated by same light source and in this case most part of armour is top front and a bit on lefr and in case of boobs is rather front center and this makes this strange effect other thing already mentioned by cooking meth - you whant a mid tones to be at best 50% of area rest shadows and light other thing is how light bounces - so basicly this boob domes would reflect a light reflected from below "underlightr" ;) and face - hairs could benefit from nice light bliks - this would adicionalu confirm a light direction
Here is an update in Joan, I re did the boob plates, I think they look a little better now. Any more suggestions would be great! Sill trying to fine tune a lot of stuff here.
It looks much better now Azard. It looks more blue now xD. And the little reflection spots makes it pop. Want more pics soon, when the rest is finished.
