    Thanks the the details.
I'm using Xpress colors myself, and I use their medium but it's promoted as working nicely with water too.
I should try it to tone down some color I find too intense as it.

For wash I've been using flow improver. It works pretty well. For the others it's been speed paint and Xpress with Vallejo medium. For the Syennan I have used no medium because I want it intense dark red.

How are the Xpress paints compared to Speedpaints?

I only have a few but I don't see much difference.

Here is a review by Stahly of Tale of Painters (the dude reviewing every hobby paint known to mankind) comparing them if you want a more objective review than "I just like them" (which would be the kind of thing I'd write):

In summary there ARE differences even if pretty much all would fit this purpose, but in general Xpress fits better the kind of person who likes to do glazing and the like while Speedpaints fit better the "basecoat and done" kinda crowd (I'm more and more inclined towards that one as i hope to paint my whole backlog before i die)

I've seen it too and it's good. Very in depth. I mainly do speed paint and Xpress because my store has them. I could do Contrast but I find them too expensive and hate the bottles.

Is there a name yet for this product in general? I don't want to confuse people when i say speedpaint when i really mean the type of paint.

Edit: also to note, as with acrylics, sometimes the color matters as well. Also, I noticed when using medium, it gives them a shiny look. Mat varnish later helps to get rid of that but it can be a pain.

Have not seen a more common term than "Contrast-like" sadly, they were the first and that counts for a lot, Brent from Goobertown way back then when Contrast was just released made similar stuff out of acrylic inks and matte medium, and he called them "heavy-body washes", but i don't think anybody but him (and perhaps some of his viewers) would recognize the term, and i for one have not seen any other than those two.

I'd say Ink-Paints. They are essentially inks with more medium and flow improvers. I've even made washes out of inks.

Interesting video indeed (with all the good ways of doing such I totally agree).
I like the term onecoat paint he uses as it's pretty much the idea marketed for those products.
For reference, the non dragon's minis here are 99% Xpress color painted.

Sorry for hijacking the thread
