The general inability for motorcycles to choose to not be impetuous impacts the biker gang style lists. The Aragoto KHD will miss being able to Cybermask.

I like these changes a lot. The core of Oban really shine through now, maybe a bit too much compared to the new stuff (apart from the Hatamoto).

I'm surprised there aren't more posts about the new profiles we have in our new sectorial. I haven't had time to get in any games, but has anyone had a chance to try the new sectorial? What works?

I will run Oban for a little while to get used to the new ruleset but am curious about any experiences there as well. I'm looking forward to trying out the new Shikami, with it's new skills and weapons. With Superjump (8"), we can super-jump rather than walk, and so if the opponent in bunkered down, we can be only 4" off their deployment zone in one order (+4" deployment, 2 x 8" Super Jump). At that point we can take advantage of the BS13 B4 Assault Pistol and Mim -6 to start taking out light units, and follow up on heavier units with CC. Eclipse Grenades will be handy for getting in to CC or blocking LoF for tough ARO units.

Any other ideas for Oban or the new Shindenbutai?

One other thought - we can make Domaru/Tanko link teams now (and would be considered pure), but the Tanko has Impetuous which would knock them out of the link team on the very first activation. Is it worth spending an extra order per Tanko to keep them in the team? Other than the ML, I can't think of any unit that would be beneficial enough to outweigh the loss of orders to keep them in the link.

I think I'm going to be running vJSA, Oban, and Ikari at first. It's cool I can do a lot of different Daiyokai haris in all three.

Has anyone tried the REF troops? Other than the Kyosho hackers, I see no use for the Genbutai or Sohei. Sohei are crying out for smoke. They would be great if they could actually get into CC. But at 16pts there's better troops. The Genbutai looks like a cool troop but can’t be added to any fireteams and is only AVA1 anyway.

I like the look of the Genbutai paramedic or Specialist, most paramedics are pretty lightweight, this one can stand up for himself and get where he needs to be. Specialist with Multi rifle and HFT is a solid combo of weapons. I would use them as a 2nd or 3rd turn unit to medkit a model or grab or defend an objective Religious and Warhorse make sure they don't back down for anything.
The Sohei are an odd unit, since they're only available in the generic list. They're the only unit with Grenades which is cool, but in an army where almost every unit can fight well in CC, they don't really stand out. I would consider one a good speedbump or throw away unit to trade up.

I totally love the Sohei figures. But unfortunately there's better troops for going forward and stabbing and better for holding back for guard the DZ. Right away the Kyojin for forward and Garon Thunderbolt for DZ come to mind for nearly the same price. I suppose I could used them as proxies for the Kyojin. I'm not big on those models and have no need for a second Yamabushi.
