Hi there, I will participate in this years Interplanetario '23. In order to keep me motivated to paint my miniatures until the event, I decided to write a little paint log in this forum. My usual factions are Tunguska, Corregidor and Shasvastii. However I heard on so many podcasts that there are not so many Vanilla Pano players around at tournaments. I neither know if this true nor why this could be true, but I like to explore how capable Vanilla Pano can be by myself. I like to play TAGs and Pano sports some of the finest TAGs in game. I even can play 2 TAGs in one list which is a huge plus in my book. So I settled with playing double TAG lists accompanied by Johannas Irregulars. I tried Vanilla Pano out for at least 10 games and it was very fun to play them. I even managed to finish 3rd in a tournament with my lists. Here are the first wip pics
Yesterday I bought and assembled the remaining models for the lists I am going to field. I will use the Troll Hunter as a proxy for a Beasthunter and I started to convert a Croc Men sniper into an Auxilia forward observer. I will post detailed pictures of the conversion once the job is completely done. This is the To Paint List: HVT #2 (Counter Measures requires 3 HVTs) HVT #3 Tech Bee Monstrucker Beasthunter Traumadoc Helot Johanna of Orleans Cutter Squalo Crabbot Warcor Mule Bot Auxilia Auxbot Zulu-Cobra This totals to 16 models that I will need to paint within the next 2 months. I aim for a decent Battle Reday™️ paint job (clean application of contrast colors with 1 or 2 layers of glazes) for most models in order to have everything fully painted. If I have some spare time I will add highlights and freehands to center pieces like the Cutter and Johanna.
After reading the tournament rules for the Interplanetario again I figured that I need some additional models. A Corporate Security Unit and a F13 Turret. This adds two additional models to be painted. Today I managed to prime all models and also airbrushed some models that are mainly to be painted in Pano blue. I experimented with some color recipes for my bases and I am very pleased with how the bases turned out. I went with the original Angel Giraldez recipe: Black primer Apply Yellow Green with airbrush Add some Deck Tan to the Yellow Green and apply with airbrush Wash recesses with Agrax Earthshade Higlight with 50/50 Yellow Green/Deck Tan Sprinkle several dilluted colors like Nihilakh Oxide, Troll Slayer Orange, Blood Angels Red, Typhus Corrosion, Agrax Earthshade
Today I managed to paint my Crabbot and I made some progress with the F13-Turrets. I kind of couldn‘t resist to paint the freehand unit symbol on this one :-) Coming up next: Finished F13-Turrets and Warcor
Really really nice job here! Cool choice of faction, cool lost, cool color scheme, and very good execution! I'm excited to see your finished TAGs. And that Auxilia conversion is top notch.
Still WIP but with a lot of progress on the Auxilia Accent layers on grey and black areas are still missing. Bases will be done at the end of the log all at once. The Auxbot is also right in front of the finish line. White areas still need to be done, as well as some of the OSL light shennanigans. Maybe I will do the freehands on the Auxbot as well … I aim to finish those two models by the end of the week. I will probably continue with the Cutter after the Auxilia unit is done
Auxilia Forward Observer reporting for duty The freehands on the Auxbot were really fun to paint I will finish all bases at the end in a batch job. Currently 7 out of 19 models are painted. Time is running fast. Interplanetario is starting Aug 18th. This renders the night of Aug 16th the last opportunity to paint. Reducing the remaining time with my annual leave and biz trips leaves me with 44 evenings to paint the rest of the models completely. Counting Tags as model with double effort due to the size of the model this makes roughly 3 paint sessions per remaining model. I hope I can keep up the current pace …
You're doing great, man! Love the Auxilia. We can try to work towards the finish line together — my own backlog right now is 16 models, and I want to be done with them by the first week of August. Seeing that sweet sweet 0 on the horizon...
Thank you - Do you post your paintlog somewhere on the Internet as well? Are you painting your models for a special event too?
On my painting threads, yes. Nomads and Ariadna PanO O-12 The special event for me is to have a completely empty backlog That hasn't happened for the last three years, so I'm pretty excited to reset down to 0.
@burlesford: Empty Backlog? Scientists got to invent immortality pills for me to achieve that. Current progress on the Cutter The blue armor is now ready to be highlighted. Metallic parts on the weapon still need to be done. Shoes are already done. The torso needs still some work with base colors as well as the antennas. The first freehands are also already finished I chose a simplified version of the Cutter logo I will continue tomorrow
Hopefully this will be the last WIP picture of the Cutter. Highlights on the blue armor parts are now done. Highlights on dark grey areas are still missing. Head needs some detail work and the engine/thruster in the back is also not done yet. Ultimately some more additional freehands and OSL ligthing effects will be added.
