Since Bostria mentioned Domaru was getting a specialist, I have heard a lot of different responses as to what kind of specialist it was. This thread is to talk about what kind of specialist we are to expect. For me, I am just expecting either a 'Specialist' troop that can only interact with objectives. Nothing more than that but an AHD would be a pleasant surprise. (though I see it as very unlikely). What do you think?
Specialist Operative is most probable, but there are a number of interesting choices CB could make instead. FO, KHD, or Paramedic (actually useful in all-HI fireteam).
FO and Paramedic I can see, but not KHD. But that is because I consider that KHDs in-universe are viewed as 'dishonorable and disgusting' weapons (which is why you see it in units like Hexa, Ninjas to name a few). Mechanically I agree with you.
I'm guessing FO and/or Paramedic. Hackers doesn't really seem to fit with the Domaru image IMHO and specialist is a bit too general. That is what the Shikami is for.
Linked KHD on a linkable HI troop... a little too much on the side of "I can sense a scream on the 'verse. Like hundreds of pages of rules were suddenly twisting in despair, foreshadowing their future use"... XD considering how generous has been CB with Tinbots lately, I'd go for Specialist Operative, Forward Observer, or Paramedic, any of those with Tinbot option. Giving them any kind of hacking device is a little against the JSA "hat", specially since I think there is no hacker HI whit a level of Frenzy. Mechanically, however, it would be a little more detrimental than useful for the fireteam, since it adds another "rock" to its advance (enemy KHD), which will force the burning of orders to a "faction" (the JSA) that already needs the most orders it can to reach melee (unless the Domarus get also smoke). Mind you, I hope the Domaru won't get a repeater installed, because such "obvious" protection against hacking is sooooo Nomad, I expect to see it on Tunguska ^^
On the other hand, Tankos would be the ones to potentially use hacking devices. Then again, this is not to talk about Tanko. Tinbot I can see and, being truthful, is what is sorely needed for them. Most of the time I go against Nomads with a link HI team, I can always bet on one of the HIs in the link to fail their BTS Save, even with Fairy Dust up.
My vote is for paramedic. Perhaps AHD. everything else seems really optimized, FO flash pulse is really really good on wip 13 model with no weapon other than a chain rifle. Specialist operative is possible, but somewhat disappointing imo. KHD would be pretty insane, they could just waltz around w/ stealth and blow up mid field hackers before CCing whatever it is they wanted to do in the first place. I'm kind of disappointed with he hackers in JSA, i was hoping the Ryuken would have a banger hacker option, oh well, I guess we can still hold out for the Tanko.
my money is on "specalist operative" or chain of command based on the fluff it seems unlikely that Domaru would be paramedics or FOs
I think Assault Hacker is the best fit fluff-wise, increases the idea that Domaru are scariest within 8 inches, adds a much needed specialist, and in the case the Tanko lose their long range loadouts, gives them some midfield support, which is where they'll be spending most games.
If hypothetically speaking every player on this forum gets exactly one veto. I'll gladly burn mine on that one. Ah an AHD Domaru... do I enjoy chewing on glass splinters? Well no, but compared to this I need to rack my brain which one is worse. This man gets it. You're a national treasure for the entirety of Nippon, someone get this guy a medal, a big one.
I didn't say it would be my first pick. I'd rather have a paramedic or doctor but those make the least sense thematically. Engineer to come along with the Daiyokai would be cool but is also unlikely. I would say the order of likelihood is probably something like AHD>FO>Specialist OP>CoC>KHD>Paramedic>Engineer>Doctor.
Blergh AHD. That would be expensive and awful in equal measure. I think FO is possible is they pair it with a Combi Rifle, to inflate the cost and restrict the natural awesomeness of having both a Chain Rifle and a Flash Pulse. It would be amazing if you could still take the Chain Rifle profile alongside an amazing linked Flash Pulse, but I don't know that we'll get that lucky.
Been a JSA player since 2012. ISS was down on player count when I signed up, so I joined with Druze. If JSA had been the underdog, I would have played JSA.
