So I finished reading the rules in the how to play document, and watched some let's play video, and I feel the hero are missing some options in the actions they can take. I mean an active character can basically move and / or attack with its two actions. You can also interact with items and consoles but these are not battle options. It doesn't add depth to the way you fighting. So it feels like the heros and foes are going to punch each other in face alternatively and the one that punches the hardest will win, like in a Pokemon fight (I guess there is a little more as you have to deal with weapons range and aggro). I feel the game lack some options you usually have in this kind of game like "defensive stance" and or "overwatch". Overwatch could be like spend two actions to enter this state. You can attack an ennemy that active within range after it's first action but before it's second action. I will play with the demo set and add my impression but right now that is what I'm thinking. What do you think ?
The skill cards you get for "leveling up" give more abilities and options. One of Umas cards gives her an ability like you want.
I didn't find that at all when playing the prototype. The heroes really have to work together as each fits a certain role (as I'm sure you've realised anyway). Lose the hacker and things get tough. Lose the tank, people take more damage. And so on.
The dice mechanic has an element of overwatch built in, allowing you to deal damage even when defending. Much like in Aristeia! This is then bolstered by skills, like Cadin's ability to use melee weapons in place of defence when defending against adjacent targets.
Indeed they are on overwatch all the time with the backstrikes, maybe some abilities that boost the backstrike could be great for heroes and even for the nemesis.
All your answers are interesting and making me less worried. I will try the game tommorow. Thx for feedbacks
