Hector and Ajax only reach their full potential in a link team. By himself, Ajax is too bat-shit crazy and short range to do anything more than die dramatically twenty inches from the enemy, and Hector is like that needy girl who leaps from relationship to relationship because she's too insecure to be alone. Neither offer anything Our Divine Diva Achilles can't best.

That said, taking Pat and Achilles in the same vanilla list is a mistake. Pat is too expensive, and what you're going to want from a secondary slam piece is utility--open another path of assault. Hipp and the Ekdromai are excellent for this sort of thing.

That is completely contrary to every other interpretation of the rule that has been put out before.

In Vanilla/Generic armies the purpose is to allow Duo of same unit teams. That would be Yadu only in Aleph. Don't forget that TeamPro has other benefits to it beyond the Duos aspect.

No. ALEPH as a faction has:
    Generic ALEPH,
Steel Phalanx (with a Sectorial Chart),
    OperationS (with a Sectorial Chart).

Generic ALEPH itself has no Sectorial Chart.

Whatever. That duo is a waste anyway and this is just another example on why N4 is needed with streamlined and clarified rules.

Even in a fireteam he will die far away without accomplishing anything and you will be wondering to yourself why you didn't save yourself 10 points and take the spitfire myrm instead.

    Not at all.

Pat kan kill just as good as Achilles, just slightly differently. He can go places, where Achilles can’t tread, simply for being MI, and when Achilles inevitably goes down, you have a piece that hits just as hard, and is almost as hard to take out - and given how much trouble Achilles can be, this is very hard for an opponent to deal with. Of course paying 132 pts for the pair is right up there with a Marut, so it requires a certain playstyle, but they multiply each others force. And supported by cheap and fast daikini medics for button pushing, they’ve got plenty of orders to play with.

Had you said they weren’t worth it in the Phalanx, I’d agree. A myrmidon team does just as well, while dragging specialists along.

This I disagree with, Pat is horribly underrated in SP. He is also a great solo hitter in SP that can knock down a lot of enemy targets quite well as well as clean out the midfield for the rest of the army to advance into behind him.

As for the other one, Achilles requires a certain build that would probably be better in vanilla where he can get the support he needs.

    Why
Why does the EVO program even mention the duo allotments allowed in the sectorials then? As the program is only used in vanilla.

TeamPro doesn’t mention Sectorials at any point.
The Program is mostly used in Sectorials, to allow you to be more aggressive with Fireteams without risking the Fireteam breaking if the Team Leader goes down. Being able to form Duos in generic lists is a secondary effect.

My mistake. I was thinking of the fireteam duo skill.

Although it is funny, that the Aleph Vanilla Patroclus has Fireteam:Duo(Achilles V2) if under no circumstances he is allowed to form the team.

Because it is a skill tied to that profile. Just like Shakti still has the Duo skill in Vanilla, Haris Yadu is available, or any of the Phalanx characters still have their Enomotarchos skill.

Dont really have a got to list but more of a go to link that i like.
i use Ajax more as a ARO bullet/order spunge as he can take some hits and when he is out of combi range just dodge on the spot on 16s since its not always favorable to smoke ARO to cut of LoS.

I used this 18 order Phalanx list some times and at a tournament. Has some flaws but works well, its 4 - 0 win rate or something like that.
