Now that Aleph as been added to the Infinity Painter, I'm considering spending more time updating it.
What would you like me to work on?

The poll's choices are sorted by the amount of work needed. So keep in mind that the more work it requires the less soon it will be done :innocent:. Obviously, once the next update is done, a next one will be considered.

Feel free to share other options you could think of.

Once chosen, I will need your help to choose the appropriate models from the Infinity Dossiers, but that's another topic.

EDIT: some testing can be tested on the Beta page.

EDIT 2: Poll is now closed.
Next update will be to have 2 models per faction.
Faction specific topics have been created to choose the models
    Yu-Jin
    Aleph
    USArdiana
    Combined Army
    HaqqIslam
    Nomad
    Panoceania
    Tohaa
    O-12

Personally the biggest recommendation I would make is to improve the colour picker, at least to include the option to input RGB (or CMY or whatever) and hexidecimal codes for the colors. Especially the hex codes are quite easy to obtain for most paints, and it would make it easier to 'come back' to colour schemes without having to try and guess at getting Scab Red each time.

I understand your concern but I have to remind that I am not a coder, the original code is almost untouched (I only duplicate things and play with settings). So unfortunately, this is out of my reach.
I can only offer to enrich the content not the functionalities.

@Koin-Koin Fair enough, didn't know much about the site except that you have taken over hosting it.
What's the license of the source code? I don't mind helping out with improvement as and when I get time, but I don't want to go stepping on toes/offending the original developer/violating any licenses or agreements that may have been put in place since you started hosting it

    Legitimate wonder here.
I get permission to host it at the older forum time as it was not hosted anymore but the zip was shared (no trace of licence in the code).
I have to check if I can access the old forum message to check if specific info were provided at this time.
Perry can be contacted via his Twitter account if you have one.

Sadly I don't have twitter, have enough trouble keeping up with one social media site and this forum

Even with webarchive it's hard to find back the exchange (if it was private ones then no chance to access it).

Well, I'd have to vote for adding an additional model to the set. One LI (or other low-armored trooper) and one HI (heavy armor) per faction.

I don't know if it'd be possible in the coding, but tying the armor plates together between models would be really cool, so that you could see how your idea would look applied to LI and HI at the same time.

Size consistency: the earlier it gets done, the better. Then new things just have to match it.

I would go with separate page for TAGs so you can size them as a whole ("full window" would be S7), while keeping infantry a different scale ("full window" would be S5 ones). It could also mean you can put all the TAGs, instead of a sample. Just provide a link in each version, so clicking TAGs in infantry jumps to it, and vice versa.

My initial idea was to double the selection button (like 1 and 2 for each faction) but having two models displayed at once like the 2 views for the Aleph version can be done too.

The drawback I can see is that it could be difficult to choose which parts of each model should be linked together. It may even restrict the flexibility in zoning of each model.

Model zoning could be tricky sometime so I fear it could become a nightmare. Still, that something I'll keep thinking around this idea.

I can get a quick beta of the existing models sized up/down, it will be good to have feedback on this.

I'm far from knowing all the factions so please correct the following assomptions I have:
    - not all the factions have TAG
    - some factions have more TAGs than others.

Thanks a lot everyone to your replies.
Please, don't take my answers as definitive no if I say something opposing your entry, I'm trying to explain what it will imply on my side. Some I just can't provide, some will requires extra works but not necessary too much, etc...

Ok, there's a new Beta to quickly test different options on the go.
Right now, I just scaled up the existing pics so everything looks similar (some are quite rough atm).

    Technical details:
    - the pic is 800 pixels high max
    - this can be used later to scales model more "accurately" as we can agree on different standard sizes (800px, 750px, 700px for instance)

EDIT: beta now show what I had in mind for the 2 models per faction interface

What about giving the palette some background? Or at least a border? Any clue about what can be clicked to drag it around. For example cursor: move; border: 2px solid rgb(208, 208, 208) for .picker, gives it both an edge and a mouse pointer clue.

Thanks for pointing this, adding a missing background pic seems to fix it.
Please check the Beta to see if that's enough.

Now it is visible, but still no hint about being draggable. Add cursor: move to .picker. *wink*

The color picker is actually provided by the spectrum.js library.
I'm not feeling like messing with the code at the moment.

So far the poll is pointing to a second model for each faction, so:
    - does the Beta interface for 2 models looks like doing th stuff?
    - the LI/HI profiles per faction seems OK to me so you should all start thinking about which model to use for you favorite faction (I may have dedicated post for later)
    - do you think there's room for sectorials? (my first thought is that's there too much to make relevant)

I think a LI/Hi would work great for most of the factions, but I think Combined Army could use an individual unit for each of their sectorials as the Morats and Shasvasti look very distinct.

Also adding a Brawler for NA/2 could be a cool addition.
