I get so confused about haris compositions. Some of the special haris specifically call for a haris version of a unit, while others don't. That's not a legal Haris. Regardless of composition, a Haris team must contain a member with the Haris skill in order to be formed; the same is true of Duo.
But doesn't this constitute a Special Fireteam: Haris option given in the Army Sectorial list (Daiyokai + 2 Domaru), which negates the need to have a Fireteam: Haris ability listed in a profile? Or do I have that misunderstood? See Infinity Wiki list of fireteam compositions: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/List_of_Fireteams#Japanese_Secessionist_Army
Yep, a Special Haris is still a Haris so needs someone in the skill. Most Special Haris don't care who has the skill, for example Patsy can be the person with the skill in a Kamau Haris, but a few do specify additional restrictions like the Karakuri+Haris Domaru.
It is confusing looking on infinity army, but there is a way to tell the difference. Using domaru as an example, in their list of special abilities (along with MA3, berserk, etc.) they have Fireteam: duo and fireteam: core. So they have these abilities stock and can form those pure domaru fireteams. Below the special abilities there's a thick black line, then a list of special fireteams. These ones are not included, and you have to jump through an extra hoop or two to form them. In the case of Tanko/Domaru core, you only have one hoop: have the requisite numbers of each troop. In the case of Harris options, you have 2 hoops: requisite number of each troop AND one of them has to have the fireteam: Harris ability.
Just a note. There is not Fireteam:Core skill. That is an Army adaption only. To form a Core you do not need a skill (again as it doesn't actually exist), just have the option to form it with the units you want.
Indeed, your best option is always to check the rules on the wiki, as Army's reminders are just that, reminders. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/List_of_Fireteams
