Can the inclusion of a wildcard model into a linkteam violate the linkteam restrictions on inclusions of said model? Veteran Kazaks are wildcards in any Tartary Sectorial link. Veteran Kazaks also have a special fireteam option allowing up to three of them to form a core fireteam with Frontoviki. Can I use wildcard to sub in a fourth Veteran Kazak into this linkteam, violating the "up to three Veteran Kazak" restriction?
Yes, or you could include 4 of them in a normal Frontovik Core. The 2+3 Special Fireteam seems to be left over from a previous version/playtest IMO
It was ruled you can replace anyone in a fireteam and not add an extra. I asked the same question about adding Gromoz to Scarface and Cordilia (Duo in DBS). Sadly you can't get a 3 man Duo.
Honestly, it’s completely irrelevant because you don’t have to use the Special Fireteam: Core. Up to 3 Veteran Kazaks + 2 Frontoviks.entry if you’re trying to make a fireteam using four or five Veteran Kazaks. You can use the line Kazaks or 112 Fireteams instead, substituting the Veteran Kazaks for the other troopers in the other entries. The “up to 3+2” entry is just there because you might want to put two Frontoviks into a fireteam for some reason. It’s otherwise harmlessly redundant. Edit: More importantly, Wildcard models don’t join in addition to the listed fireteam models. They join as substitutions for that fireteam, and you’re not limited on how many substitutions you make or that all of the wildcards have to substitute for the same type of trooper. Reference explanation of what being a wildcard means: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/solved-valerya-gromoz-and-scarface-in-dbs.23373/ in case you were wondering if you could form a fireteam of 4 Line Kazaks, a Frontoviks and a Veteran Kazak or three.
The fact that they are both Core and Wildcard opens up a lot of possibilities. I was working on a list where almost everyone was both linkable and veteran for some interesting combinations. The ability to throw any combination of Veteran Kazaks and Frontoviki together allows some amazing flexibility, especially if you start with 7-8 of them in a list. On a sidenote, can the Non Hackable label protect Veteran Kazak from non-hacking e/m attacks, i.e. e-marats? They would ignore Isolated in any case, but can e/m ammunition immobilize them?
No, Non-Hackable is specific to Hacking Attacks. EM and Adhesive ammo will still put them into IMM-2 state.
I, too, recently came upon this realization. I dont know what's in that Ariadnan vodka, but EM makes those veteran kazaks freeze right up.
Do you know what happens to a 1960's (or later) combustion engine that's exposed to a very strong electromagnetic field? Ariadnan heavy armour contains more electronics than a 1960's combustion engine.
