Been a bit since I've done frontline and never with Ikari. So I thought i'd get some advice from some fellow Pirates! um... privateers.

Sadly no YY because i've used them a lot and they will be expected.

I know I’ll be going up against Bakunin. There will probably be Riot Grrls, Zeros, Tsyklon spitfire, Chimera, Zoe & Piwell. These are the usual subjects for him.

The Druze team will of course FD level 1 with the Tanko hanging in the back still in deployment. I was thinking of going with No KHD because the mission doesn’t require any specialists and why give him something to hack? But I figure it’s something to protect the Tanko, and Ahl Fassed.

Ahl Fassed is going to be the one to control the Xenotech. I figure he will be the most survivable for those the job.

Liberto is there as a speed bump. I’ve had a lot of use out of this guy laying down mines and just making a nuisance out of himself. Usually after laying down mines he can also be used to “clear” mines.

Bashi I think will come on either side and lay down some E/maulers. I thought of going with something else but I like the idea of him needing to deal with the E-mines.

Keisotsu is mainly there to act like the Lt. he’ll be on his own hiding somewhere.

In Group 2 is Brawler-Tanko team. I’m taking the Doctor because this is a mission that requires points in an area so I want to keep those guys up.

May be a dumb question, but don’t you need a Haris in that Group 2 team?

Yes! You are correct. I forgot to change the Tanko to the Haris.

It seems like you have a solid plan. The only thing I might contest is the lack of Yuan Yuan. I understand if you flat out don't want to run them for this, but the fact that you can bring 4 for the price of 2 Bashi just seems better. More wounds at least. (holo-echo can sort of help even this out, but idk if it helps enough).

    2x Bashi = 34 Points or ...

On top of that, you have a 20% chance of rolling up an efficient HI/TAG stopping (or threatening) weapon on the booty Chart.
    • Explosive CCW
    • E/M Grenades
    • E/M CCW
    • Mono-filament CCW
I didn't include BS options, because they are admittedly less reliable. If you do include these, your chances of scoring a threat go up to 30%.
    • Adhesive Launcher
    • Panzerfaust
Anyways, with 4 Yuan Yuan, you are likely to score at least one of these and cause some major damage (or sweating). This doesn't count the tactic of throwing the cheap pieces into CC just to prevent movement (especially the DA choices). In Ikari, the benefits here are multitude. I won't go over all of them, but top of mind are these:
    1. CC 19 is no joke; it can tie up other strong pieces without the need for further order expenditure
    2. Tanko in your list carry MF CCWs > If they walk into CC with a unit that you've already engaged (with a YY), suddenly the Tanko receives +1 B and is extra scary
If you're concerned about dropping them because you feel that your opponents know all the counter plays, I would challenge you to try and use the little yuan yuan differently, rather than swapping them out.

All this said, I totally understand wanting to mix things up. Just wanted to toss in my two cents!

Oh believe me I'd love to use my YY. They are fantastic but my opponent is very used used to them showing up. He's really made it hard for me to drop them without getting shot up. Besides I want to practice with the Bashi. I think the E/Maulers can be useful. If I go first I can have them come on the board and start laying down E-mines right in front of his deployment! It's also one of the few things that can hurt his Riot Grrls. I may even use a coordinated order to bring them both onto the table.

@oldGregg The reason I asked the question about holo2 and Parachutist is because of the possibility of an ARO with a template weapon. I don't want them deployed and the guy and holos all being taken out by grenade, missile, etc.

Eh...what is purpose for group 2? It will only make you to loose two orders if you're going to start ... So in first group you will have !!5!! regular orders.

This mission is about pushing forward. Druze are so-so unit to make pushing, in my opinion. One zero with mines and all your link is going down (mine-on-coner). Bashi bazooks are nice to defuse mines ...in active turn. How are you planing to use bash bazoks? I'd deploy one in holoecho state, near edge of deployment, so he would be ready to defuse mines. Or to scary enemy being Armand.

I wouldn't count on usefulness of any kind of mines\e-maulers vs bakunin. Pupnik has the highest dodge possibilities in game + they cheap, enemy can easily sacrifice them. Riot grrls also have pretty high chance to doge. I'd go for boarding and smg+chain-colt Bashi bazooks.

Maybe pure tanko haris in middle can defend themself better comparing to druze + some supprot from ninja khd and liberto?

    All good points.

The Liberto is there to place his own mines and get rid of his mines. He also has a very good dodge.

The Bashi can also come on from the side to get rid of mines with holos. I like the E/Maulers to slow him down. even if he can dodge them that's an order he needs to use to do it. I've had a lot of luck doing similar. He may also take a TAG and they can be very useful for that. My opponent is not going to be fooled much by Armand or anything else I make him look like.

My intention was for the Brawler+Tanko haris Group 2 was just to stay back and hold the first area. I thought of putting the Bashi in their own group but then they don't have orders to do anything after coming on board.

Something i've remembered is that he can only have up to MSV2. So my own smoke and Brawler Sniper could be very helpful.

So taking that into mind, how about this?

The YY is only there to throw smoke on the Brawler MSR.

The Wu Ming replaces the Ahl Fasseed as the one to control the Xenotech.

I’ve added the Baggage bot due to the mission and cheap order.

I still want to do the two Bashi with E/Mauler. My plan now with them is to use a coordinated order to bring them both on the board at the same time. They need to be a part of the same group to do that. They can then use their irregular orders to move and lay down mines. I may even use the last order to do another coordinate move-lay mine.

You know both Bashi will have to come on the same edge (which you'll have decided during your deployment phase)? They'll have limited utility if you're going first and there's no juicy targets on their side of the table.

When I played frontline, I was sold on the Wu Ming Haris (HMG, chain rifle and brawler - lt if you want to save points) - that HMG is devastating, but a chain rifle can clear out the midfield pretty easily, and the footprint isn't too big to get caught up in tricky terrain. Having a shotgun to go point for maximum mods, an SMG for shock, and 3 suppressive fire models is just gravy!

I'd be tempted for Yojimbo, too - his koalas and a nimbus launcher could be a nasty trick against the chimera (-3 MOD if they start out of LOF, and -3 if they're in a nimbus zone)*, if you can get them to go off against an ARO. Also, he has a chance to clear out the soft underbelly. A krakot could do a similar job in another turn (and being able to pose similar alpha strike threats might make their deployment more cagey).

*Actually, checking up on the wiki, this isn't so for perimeter weapons. But, it would work for mine and e-mines...

Knocked this up - the Karakuri is there for the xenotech, the Rui Shi utilises the smoke cover from Desperado and Yojimbo to discover and clear midfield zeroes, and the Wu Ming Haris cleans up once the Rui Shi is down.

The wardriver has sixth sense, and can conceivably protect against hacking attempts at the Rui Shi, and the Druze KHD should be able to Cybermask til they're needed. The EM LGL lies prone on a roof to threaten spec fire for the central zone (even if he doesn't actually fire in anger, it can create a bubble in the midfield).

Save your command tokens for the inevitable LoL, but 2 veteran orders and a couple of tokens should give you enough to get some work done turn 2... and, in turn 3 you'll have an extra order on whatever power piece you have left (probably a Wu Ming)...

Good point on liberto - defuser.
Prety solid list. I like it very much. (well except druze - I don't like druze as a unit... but anyway - I guess it depends on personal taste). Only one thing, I'd put yuan-yuan to second group and take one bashi bazok from second group into first one. Reason - yuan (hopefully) wan't need much orders to throw smoke, but at least one bashi bazook might need more orders, to go, to put e-mauler, to suppresive etc.

Well, I won! 10 to -1. I used the second list. I kept him in his deployment and He didn't get the Xenotech out at all. It certainly didn't seem like it was going to happen in the first turn. He went first and was able to get Bran Do Castro right up against my deployment. He then jumped and climbed to kill the Haris team including the Lt. also the YY and then the Pangguling. I was finally able to kill him with the Wu Ming HMG. He tried to kill my Tanko missile launcher with his RG Missile but it was even for us and game down to luck and he lost. Thank goodness for that!

He didn't fall for the Keitsotsu as Lt. because he thought only Brawlers could be Lt.! So I as in Loss of Lt. however! due to the Druze Vet L1 sill I didn't need to turn much into regular orders. I brought in the Bashi's with their own Irreg order rather than coordinated order. I put one on either side. I only had one order left for them and I moved one in to lay down an e/mauler. The tanko was able to take out another RG. I tried out the Druze spec fire with e/m grenades and was able to isolate Zoe who unfortunately later engineered herself back. The Wu Ming walk up with the Xenotech and was able to do it's thing in the middle zone.

Turn 2 he brought up Pi-well who was modded by Zoe. He killed one Druze, then moved up to kill another but the E/Mauler I put down before immobilized and isolated him. Zoe tried to kill a Druze with Combi but I was able to take her out. I love X-visors! she was at -3 and I was at ZERO! Then RG spitfire tried to kill Druze with Panzerfaust. But he got her. Again thanks to the X-visor!

On my turn I moved up both of the Bashi's to then lay e-maluers, one blocking the Custodiers path and another right in the face of RG. The Wu Ming moved up on top of a building and killed a Boarding shotgun RG.

On his turn he moved a Zondbot up to set off the E/Mauler by his Lt. Then the Lt. stepped out in front of the Bash, I was at first going to shoot her but decided instead to put down it's last e/mauler. The bashi died but was able to leave a present to deal with. A RG move up to be Isolated and immobilzied by the other e/mauler. and that was pretty much game.

This is an approximation of what he had. I can't remember exactly.
