Good morning guys, We announce you that we'll close definitely the old forums http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/ the next monday. As we said in November 2017, the forum remained in read mode only for some months, and now is time to close it. So, if you have something you want to save, you have the last 7 days.
So how will this affect the only justification of going Prone with anything else other than the Move skill, if we no longer have access to Palanka's ruling?
Says you. I have at least 3 backups, 2 are offline, 1 is protected against EMP. No, forum backups are not important enough to warrant protection against direct nuclear strikes.
TL;DR: NO. Longer, boring and somewhat technical answer follows below. Old forum is built upon IPB (Invision Power Board), which is a quite well-known proprietary forum engine. This forum is built upon XenForo, which seems to be a less-known forum software. The biggest issue is that most forum engine database structure are so vastly different, that transferring forums from one engine to another becomes a very tedious and resource-demanding task. Specifically, you would need to transform all tables (users, access rights, forum structure, message structure etc) onto totally different rails. Think of this like planning to build a house on a flat area with perfect ground with no ground water at all, and then suddenly having to change all that because it turns out you bought a land plot that is basically a rocky swamp located next to a mountain. Then you would need to check that everything actually transferred properly, that there are no orphaned records (referenced somewhere in the past, but their reference to the 'parent' record was broken, hence the name), that permissions are transferred properly so regular users don't suddenly have admin permissions etc. I have tasked myself once with creating a website + forum for our local LARP/HEMA club and initially thought I could transfer old forum data to the new rails, but after evaluating the task more thoroughly, I abandoned the idea. Too much time to spend with little to no gain.
Yeah, no. I meant; why not literally copy-paste the ruling here if its so important? I get that the forum isn't worth migrating.
Question is, why don't CB put more meaningful Q&A into FAQ and update it more frequently than once a year? I mean, even Gee Dubbyou addresses their FAQ better these days..
@Koni could I reccommend you guys go and save any rulings palanka made for the community to refer to? Will save @HellLois the work of needing to make the rulings all over again.
And the old address gives a DNS error. [*] Good night, sweet forums, and flights of Caskudas sing thee to thy rest.
