I have and don't like the official sculpts so much. I think the weapon sizes and arm positions are a little off (ie too big and not held marionette like enough). Plus they are not disturbingly sexy enough in my opinion. I was thinking of getting the Statuesque Miniatures Fembots and adding geisha heads as a better alternative. These minis look more like GITS creepy doll/gynoids, which is the look I'm after. This project will be around the last I do for my JSA, so it's a while off yet.
For those that haven't seen the Fembots: And they come with two different heads for each 'bot. Such a shame that the new Secessionist army is probably the least able to make a GitS-like army list, though.
Which only matters if you play ITS. Not a violation of Forum Advertising Rules because there is no link to a store, just a pic.
DOMARU BUTAI with Chain Rifle Conversion It seems strange that there is not one model in the range that has this most iconic weapon in hand, especially when just about every Domaru has one in it's trooper profile. With this in mind I decided to make my own. Work in Progress pics Spoiler: WIP It may be a long while before I get to paint this guy, as I have many other things in the queue at the moment. Just glad however that I managed to execute this idea I had in my head for a long while.
Looks very menacing - the purposeful advance and offhand sword go well together - is that one that's dual wielding?
Thanks bud Yes. The base of the model is the dual sword wielding Domaru. I ended up swapping the long sword over to the hand that usually carries the short sword
YOJIMBO Or Sanjuro, as he is want to call himself. This guy took ages to finish, but I’m mighty pleased with the result, especially after doing a lot of research on the bike colours. Spoiler: Pics
YOJIMBO and CRAZY KOALAS Yojimbo got his little buddies, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb They just want a hug :-) Tweedle Dee Spoiler: Pics Tweedle Dumb Spoiler: Pics Spoiler: Bye Bye!
YOJIMBO DISMOUNTED Very happy with how this guy turned out. One of my faves in JSA project so far. Especially enjoyed researching Kurosawa and Mifune when coming up with paint scheme. Also rewatched Yojimbo and watched Sanjuro for first time. No wonder Kirosawa is considered a master of cinema. I highly recommend watching these films for JSA players to get inspired about their mini's! I'm gonna jump into the Mifune starred Samurai trilogy when I get around to painitng Mushashi. :-) Spoiler: More Shots Spoiler: Group Shot
As I said in the other thread, I find the Kurosawa films a little slow. The Samurai 7 and Kaze no Yojimbo anime are much better paced, even though they are quite a bit longer overall.
It’s true they are slow by today’s standards, but story, cinematography and acting, especially charismatic Toshiro Mifune, is top notch.
SHINOBU KITSUNE Such a cute face! This old model was a little rough in places but cleaned up OK. Spoiler: More Pics Spoiler: Oniwaban Conference "Hey Guys, Let's play!"
So, you went with red cybermuscles instead of green, huh? I'm still a bit torn on what to do for mine, probably going to do fluo blue like the armor cybermuscles and other glow effects.
