Hi, How do you squeeze all three "Smoke bombs" into a valid list? I try and try, and always seem to fall short on orders. Would love to see a theory craft list for these three pieces.

Building from memory here, so forgive me if I make an error. But I'd do something like this:

    Group 1:
    Shinobu
    Aragoto KHD
    Ryuken-9 SMG
    Kempetai MSV2 MMR
    Keisotsu HMG
    Keisotsu Missile
    Keisotsu
    Keisotsu
    Keisotsu
    Keisotsu

    Group 2:
    Saito Togan Specialist
    Yojimbo
    Ryuken-9 SMG
    Keisotsu
    Keisotsu
    Keisotsu LT

    300/6 SWC

The Aragoto KHD is flexible too. If you want a Doctor, or a Domaru LT, etc. then you can use those points to play around.

Mostly by not taking all 3 smoke-chuckers in a DoTanko list.

One or two Domaru, maybe a Daiyokai, max. Lots of Keisotsu and Ryuken, or maybe even more Ninjas, but that's a small list.

If you add the two Shikami, you're up to 400 points.

You probably won't start but 2 models in Hidden Deployment. My default would be the Ninja KHD and either Shinobu or Saito.

I will also note that Shinobu and Saito are somewhat competing for similar spots. Shinobu is better against TAGs, Saito against HI and softer targets. So you may want to only Hidden Deploy the one you're going to get best use from, and let the other be a TO marker.

Where did you get Saito being better vs HI?
Shinobu punks them at 60% after winning a FTF before better Crits and Critchance.
Saito downs 2W ARM3 HI with 37.5% chance before crits.
With Crits and B2 in the equation Shinobu only gets further ahead.

Not to rain on your parade, with B2 and high Crit chance Saito still is at very high odds.

I played Shinobu the other night for the first time. She commanded much respect from my opponent. He called her the most dangerous piece on the board over Neko and Daiyo.

Specialist really helps differentiate Saito too.

He's the guy mixing it up in the midfield, pushing buttons and tearing up 1-wound opposition.

Shinobu's the one eating big game, though she's not bad against 1-wound targets too. A Mono crit is a mono crit.

I have a hard time with Shinobu's higher cost. I generally feel like I'm giving up an entire Order to give Smoke Grenades to an Oniwaban. Not necessarily bad, but costly.

I'd say that Shinobu's problem (I mean, what makes her difficult to use well) is that she is expensive and soooo good killing things that you have to be very careful deciding the moment to reveal her. It's nice that she can throw grenades to give that important cover to herself or to other troopers, but if you reveal her position too soon you might loose a nice surprise catching your oponent off-guard and cutting in half an important unprotected model.

    This is exact
This is exactly what I did with her...revealed too soon, but I re camo'd, then she was discovered. Once she was revealed to be Uber-Oni, my opponent did whatever necessary to kill her.

Certainly your opponent's memories are gonna have a greater effect than cold statistical analysis

    Pretty legitimately so.

The best back-up plan for that is to set/move things to cover attack lines to Shinobu (ideally in deployment, before revealing Shinobu if you can). Sure, they're going to be focusing on the uberninja, but if you can set it up they will be exposed to other shooters to get her, you may either make them re-think the plan to kill Shinobu, or you just take the shots anyway. If Shinobu acting as a distraction kills at least 50 points of models (or better yet, 3+ orders), you are ahead of the curve.

I should point out that this is not Infinity 101 stuff, though. This is probably 401 or even Master's level. So it's a pain in the ass to accomplish.

LOL, with about 10 games under my belt, and one hunger games match, I think I'm still in the remedial class! 401 is next year for me.

I really love the game, the guys in my meta are amazing (there are some really old school players here in Denver), and they always show/teach. I get smashed down like a kid playing chess with his dad almost every game, but it's ok, I never feel like it's anything less than a learning experience...much like when i practiced martial arts, you have your sempai that shows you the way, and hopefully you'll be on the same level or even surpass them someday.

I find these forums very refreshing, compared to other games, where there is much vitriol on the board.
