Given that JSA is front-and-center of the new online campaign, I wanted to get some dialog going here. So far, JSA has a really unique qualifier: for any game to be scored in our area, a JSA player has to be directly involved. Interesting. I'm curious to know how games will be incentivized, since it seems like the best defense to stop players from attacking us is simply refusing to play there, and picking a different theater to fight in instead. I like the missions though, as well as the interesting terrain qualifiers and special rules. Commcenter is a good mission for JSA, with our mobile specialists and ability to attack and deny areas very aggressively. +3 to hacking helps us to a degree, though it's lethal if we face a strong infowar-oriented opponent. Deadbolt is interesting too, and it's nice to see a JSA mission involved in the mix. Anyone planning to get involved with JSA?
That's interesting. I mean, you can't get PanO to fight Yu Jing and have it count for supporting JSA there. Could be good, could be bad, I will need to think on things some more to see how it can be gamed.
I will definitely once again be involved in this campaign, this time on JSA side. In fact I've been trying to get in contact with some of the old Yu Jing High Command that switched to JSA, but so far only found 1-2 others. Once the campaign starts I'll try to actively get a group of active people together so we can coordinate stuff better, though frankly in Phase 1 I think JSA's goals will be simple...defend what is ours, especially given the extreme value our location has for our nation, unlike most other factions locations have for theirs. The restriction in the area should make it almost impossible for a single other faction to take the areas away from us, so as long as "52% of the area don't belong to JSA, so it's lost to JSA" doesn't count (it didn't in the last campaigns) I think people will have a VERY hard time clawing this one out of our hands, for math reasons really... Even more so should we ever get desperate enough to instruct our people not to fight faction X in Area Y of us and people actually listen. (Which I'd prefer not to do since it's a bit of a dick move and ruins some enjoyment I'd say). I think this has been done deliberately by Corvus Belli to give JSA a chance to be relevant in this campaign, if they had given us a normal area, and called the Event "The Kurage Crisis" we would have been overrun within the first week if our base isn't surprisingly WAAAAY bigger than I anticipate it to be. (I expect us to be at Aleph levels at best...) I really enjoy how the missions look like, I could have seen faction specific twists to faction restricted areas as well, like if our mission is "faction restricted" that could mean that JSA gets to use the Banzai! rule that is currently active in the narrative ITS Event, or stuff like that, but I guess that'd only overburden things even more. I am a bit surprised to see several missions having Hacking Boosts, I reckon this could be a bit of a Tunguska boost to raise sales, or maybe a hidden help for Ariadna who's planet it is as they are almost immune to it? One never knows I guess....not our best friend though I'd say as even with the bonus our hackers will still have trouble since the enemy hackers will most likely benefit more from it. In terms of potential allies I wonder which faction would be willing/interested in allying with JSA, and what form that alliance could take....I could see an interesting alliance (from fluff side) with Ariadna, as we share some of our space flight technology for the rights to keep mining for Teseum as well as their protection/alliance. Though most other factions (besides Yu Jing and Combined) would be possible as well obviously. Gonna continue my ideas in a next post, it's getting a bit long...
One problem I see and already saw in Yu Jing in the last year is that in our ranks nobody seems to be able to produce cool looking Propaganda stuff like the videos and pictures that Nomads and PanO so love to throw out. This is sad since it gives people quite a bit of a morale boost as seen before.....so if anyone of you is capable of producing awesome Propaganda of any sort, get going, we'll need it! :-P Another important thing that we'll have to inform people about right as the campaign starts (or in advance if they read this here :-P ) is the quality of battle reports required to make them "count". Yu Jing has had HORRIBLE problems with that in the first campaign, and suffered greatly because of it, we did better in the second one, but only because people were more informed, so we have to make sure it is that way this time as well. Basically I think it boiled down to this: .) Make sure to have at least 3 Pictures of your battle report (the more the better usually). Don't use the same pictures in more than one report for whatever reason, that's very likely to get the report discounted. (For example table overview pictures or army composition pictures). .) Your report should have at least 150 words in length (again, the more the better). This could be anything, from a fully fledged out storyline, to a simple report stating what happened, to some more exotic things. Language doesn't really seem to matter, though english obviously makes it easier for others to read. .) Have .pdf Army Lists of your armies and attach them to the battle report, Army Builder easily provides them, and if you are not sure about your enemies army, a rough estimate is better than nothing. .) If possible the Battle Report should be linked to your opponents Battle Report. This gives it a LOT of credibility. Make sure to remember your victory points and remaining battle points in the end, if they are different you might not be able to link the reports. I think those were the most important points to achieve a bare minimum battle report that will not get discarded by the algorithm "historian" that will go through the battle reports at the end of the campaign. Please everyone try to achieve these standards, cause if you don't, all your effort will be wasted in terms of supporting your faction, and that would be a shame. Please also don't forget that even loses are worth posting, there are Achievements, and there is pride to be gained, and people like to read all sorts of battle reports, even loses, there's much to learn from all of them.
Well..since the Campaign Propaganda seems to have started in full swing now...here's something I came up with :-P Well....kinda did some more: PS: Pretty sure they don't qualify as actual Haikus, but who cares :-P
I currently plan to play JSA for event play - YJ will have to wait for the Invincible Army for me to consider them again.
Our only local JSA player is still on the fence on whether to play JSA or YJ in the campaign. He's still waiting for the YJ vid to make his decision. As for me, I lack any actual JSA forces, so... yeah, I'm going to be sticking to the tried and tested HI of Yu Jing. Can't say I'm not looking forward to this campaign though. Is my first campaign too, actually.
If anyone went from not getting Tunguska to buying them in order to get a bonus on a few more troops for a few missions just for this campaign they need therapy.
Nono, don't get me wrong, I don't think it's to make them start the faction, but to make them feel like "Ooooh damn that's powerful" with the boost, and thus enjoy it more than they might usually do. Frankly I don't think that's the case, but it would be a devious plan :-P
Idk, some people who may have been on the edge might think "well this might be a nice opportunity to see how they feel on the table since the hacking bonuses mean more people will be packing hackers"
Tunguska's hacking is going to be top notch, but honestly, that's not the first thing that comes to mind when I think about the cool stuff they're getting.
