My first 150pt list for my first games of Ininity this week. It will mostly be a training game or three my first couple times out. I made this list up, hoping to get familar with some of the pieces in the box. I am generating a different list to use other players from the box. If you see any glaring holes, or players from the box that would be auto include at 150, please feel free to put that out there. One question I do have is with points and list building...there usually is some wiggle room for coming under points in a list, and I was wondering what that number is in Infinity,(n WM/HOrdes it's 3pts under, no exceptions). As always any tips, critiques, criticisms, or flat out, "dude, you just can't do that", are always welcom. Tyro List ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 7 1 KEISOTSU Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9) KEISOTSU Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) KEISOTSU Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 9) KEMPEI (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle / Pistol, CCW, Electric Pulse. (0 | 22) DAIYŌKAI MULTI Marksman Rifle, Panzerfaust / Pistol, DA CC Weapon, AP CC Weapon. (0 | 52) KUROSHI RIDER Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Breaker Pistol, AP + Shock CCW. (0 | 33) TOKUSETSU KOHEI Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) 0 SWC | 150 Points Open in Infinity Army
No one cares if you're 1 point or 100 points under the limit. If you wanna handicap yourself, it's on you. It doesn't work the other way though, points limit is a hard cap and if you play 300pts a 301+ pts list is straight illegal. Also, are you gonna play on a standard 4'x4' table, or some smaller map, like the Recon format that's played on a 2'x3' mat? It matters for choosing your infiltrators and/or weapon ranges.
As for table size, I don't know for sure. The meta here has been playing for quite some time, I could see playing on a larger table, and escalatiing up to 200 then 300 quickly. My goal is trying to get at least six games at 150 before moving up. Just not sure I'll find the guys that want to play at 150 all that often. Yeah, in WM/Hordes, the hard cap rule stands for sure.
you can go under but there is no advantage (like for being underdog). if you are 3pts under, you can add a warcor (AVA1) which cost 3Pts and doesn't do much. Helperbots (for engineer and doctor) also cost 3pts, so it would be uncommon to be more than 1-2 pts short. You can use pretty much any S2 model as warcor (unless you are also using the same model for other troops) and for S1 helper bot i'm sure no one is against being creative with proxying.
The list looks fine, I would probably swap to the Red Fury Daiyokai to give yourself a bit more power in winning a difficult Face to Face. I like the Lt. Bike that has a lot of potential in low point games. Another thing you can do if you end up with spare points is add Forward Observer to a Keisotsu (1 point per). Not only does this make them a specialist it gives them the useful Flashpulse weapon. Flashpulse shoots with their WIP, hits enemy BTS, and has a longer range than the Combi. Plus it also benefits from Fireteam Bonuses. Makes them a bit harder to deal with. The downside is that it only temporarily stuns the target, it can't kill them. Although a couple missions give score for killing Specialists so be aware of that. One thing we do is simply cut the table width in half. You get the same distance between deployment zones but it still ends up feeling a lot closer together. This also helps AD stay useful and lowers the requirement to invest in long range sweepers (that not everyone has good access to at 150).
Doing an escalation league next month - my initial thoughts for a 150pt list were; Keisotsu FO Keisotsu FO Keisotsu Para Kempeitai CoC, Boarding Shotty Domaru Spitfire Kuroshi Rider Lt Ryuken Unit-9 SMG/ODD Just needs a Domaru on top of the Army Box The first two fortnights are at 150pts and there was talk that the first fortnight might be more Firefight/Quadrant Control type missions... So might have to crack out the Daiyokai as well.
Tyro List ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 1 KEMPEI (Chain of Command) Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, CCW, Electric Pulse. (0 | 21) KEISOTSU (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10) KEISOTSU Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) DAIYŌKAI Red Fury, Panzerfaust / Pistol, DA CC Weapon, AP CC Weapon. (1 | 49) RYŪKEN (CH: Limited Camouflage) Heavy Rocket Launcher, Antipersonnel Mines / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 23) KUROSHI RIDER Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower / Breaker Pistol, AP + Shock CCW. (0 | 33) 2.5 SWC | 147 Points Open in Infinity Army My list from last night. THe bike was amazing, she killed a ton of stuff, and died while Dogged.
I'd give heavy consideration to proxying one Keisotsu for an HMG if you're playing on full-size tables. It's not the most elegant situation (the Keisotsu heavy weapon box comes out next month) but I think it's pretty much mandatory to have at least one weapon that can reach out to 32 inches. The Daiyokai can sub in a pinch, since the Marksman Rifle and Red Fury both have pretty generous rangebands, but you don't want to be stuck in your DZ because your opponent brough a single MULTI Sniper or missile launcher. +++Edit: I'm sorry, are there three of these threads going simultaneously?+++
They're already up for preorder on a few online stores (I ordered mine from GameNerdz earlier today.)
