The main time I use MA4 is multi wound models, the chance to do multiple wounds is worth the increased risk of failure IMO. Obviously Shinobu ignores this due to her Monoweapon, and MM's AP+EXP rarely needs the help.
If I have to be honest, I have no clue how to use this Haris. Without smoke, I have such a diffcult time justifying moving mushasi in, unless it's a super juicy target, which isn't too frequent in my meta. Even if I have Saito for smoke, it's just more efficient to have Saito do it, than spend a couple of orders setting Musashi up. And then take the Tanko in a five man or something.
I can think of a few situations; Enemy is close: near corner and Mushashi can reach them in one Skill (6-4 move, remember!) Movement shenanigans: if you can trigger Change Facing ARO when Mushashi is within 10" without getting into LOF Saito moves towards a different target and tosses smoke for Mushashi to use AC2, Armory doors, designated consoles needs destroying, doors needs creating, etc
Well, unless you want CC to be your dedicated attack option (although I don't know whether you want a Haris for that), Musashi is basically a Tanko Haris enabler. Not sure if he is even a FT centerpiece in that scenario. What am I missing?..
Uh.. nothing to see. I totally didn't read Saito's profile and conflated the "Regular" notation for "Specialist Operative"
If only the ava wasnt reduced from 6 to 3 T,T. I was so excited at the prospect of running the domaru + tanko link AND musashi + tanko haris. RIP muh tanko dream (and my 6 haramaki minis, including a 2nd ml). My favorite rowdy, aristeia samurai....only half of whom I can use now T,T
Another practical question: Mushashi is still irregular as far as I can see. Now in the haris link, you basically cannot use his irregular order unless you want to break the link (which can be a valid option if you already have moved up the link up the field). Do I Interpret that correctly?
Actually, Mushashi becomes regular with his Haris profile. The profile entry reads: Miyamoto Musashi (Regular, fireteam: haris). He becomes regular and has fireteam: haris with that profile. ;)
Oh I have not noticed that yet. The new profiles only show in my browser version on my compter and i am on my phone riht now which seems to show only the old version so i couldn't check. Thanks. That of course clears it up.
In the game I mentioned in the original post I did run the Musashi Haris alongside a domaru link (list behind spoiler). Spoiler quadrant control 1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 4 OYAMA Lieutenant Chain Rifle, E/M Grenades / Breaker Pistol, AP CCW, EXP CCW. (0 | 3) 6 SWC | 297 Points Open in Infinity Army We were playing quadrant control and I didn't mind having only one tanko in the core link. I felt like the core team was able to accomplish what it needed to without towing a missile launcher around. The mission we were playing was quadrant control, in case anyone is curious.
You're so close to a single combat group, with the second combat group not contributing all that much; you didn't want to just go for a single combat group, at that point? Bleh, I mind having only 1 Tanko to be able to put into the main link; that's a huge pile of points that's getting locked up in Domaru instead of the mid-/long-ranged reactive fire that's Tanko. Also, I have 6 Haramaki minis T,T, which is why I mind even more, lol, cuz I think Tanko/Haramaki are cooler than Domaru
With the greatly reduced Tanko AVA compared to Haramaki, I am really not sure. I don't mind sticking the ML into a Domaru link and running a Musashi Haris (with tanko SMG and contender), though that's expensive.
I had a few reasons: In quadrant control I prefer to go second, so if I win the roll off I take initiative. My particular opponent for this game will pick deployment 9/10 if he wins the roll off so I was pretty confident I'd get initiative even if I lost. On the small chance of a worst case scenario, I was cool with losing 2 orders on turn one because I really wanted to use both ryuken profiles and this list was more about trying new things than than being hyper competitive. If I was bringing it to a tournament, I'd drop it down to one group. That's part the of the question that prompted me to post this thread in the first place: Is it worthwhile to stick the missile in the Musashi haris? It's not an awful way to get that B2 missile launcher if you want to run something other than Keisotsu or haramaki castle core links but are you really using Musashi optimally in that scenario?
You could do this maybe combined with a Keisotsu+Kempei(+Domaru) core if you want to play Ninja heavy, or if you wanted to run a 4 Domaru + 1 Tanko link up the table. A B2 BS13 ARO with 2 wounds is pretty good, especially since it doesn't take up your Core slot.
