I was very excited when i heard that the domaru are getting a specialist profile and couldnt wait for the new update to drop. Now that its been revealed... does anyone else find it a tad bit underwhelming? Its 10 pts more expensive due to the combi rifle when compared to the base domaru, i personally found this to be unnecessary. They seemed to have shoe horned FO into this loadout simply to make it more enticing i suppose? Rant aside, hows everyone approaching the current JSA? I use to run 10 order lists featuring spitfire domaru / ML haramaki link with an oyoroi and yojimbo for backup, specialist in the form of doctor/engineer tokusetsu and a CoC kempeitai. With the current point changes i cant run this list anymore so im looking for some ideas to play with. Thoughts? BTW loving the new oyoroi, with the AP hmg it might actually be a contender for the top tag in the game.
Putting FO on the Chain Rifle removes it's main weakness (lack of range) so I understand why it was done the way it was. It sucks from a list building point of view but it's probably for the best from a game design perspective.
I mean, it kinds of sucks but I do not mind him as an option at times. Specifically, if you put him in a core link as a specialist with another Domaru + 3 Tankos, in which you have a pretty strong link team that has a person to press buttons if needed. For New JSA in general, I only got one game in so far but I am liking some of the new changes. The first game I played with them was Highly Classified against Bakunin that was a limited insertion list with a Lizard, in which I ran a Domaru+2 Karakuri Haris backed up by a 1 Kempei with Shock Marksman Rifle with 4 Keisotsus with a hacker and ML. List won. Main weakness (kind of like they always had) is a lack of long-range weaponry and still no smoke throwers outside of the characters. yeah, but if the specialist was on the chain rifle it would be auto-pick given the domaru's role in so many of the other fireteams. The fact you're a little disappointed is a good sign from a design prospective. Its a profile you wanted, and will have to think about how you fit it in, rather than just taking it as par for the course. In contrast to your luck. I use to run an Oyoroi, 5 man haramaki 2ML team, a bike hacker, 2x bots and yojimbo list. And despite the point changes, the exact same list (trading 1 haramaki for the mandatory 2nd domaru) hits 300 points exactly!! Dunno about best, but the AP hmg definitely gives the oyoroi that extra punch against hard targets and gives the HMG some flavour.
The haris link is incorrect. It says DOMARU haris + 2 karakuri, it's not possible do it with a domaru LT
Is there any way to let the linkteams be checked by the armybuilder? I also struggle sometimes to get them right and I don't want to cheat on my opponent.
Really? I thought you only had to have either with the Haris rule and not just the Domaru. Well, at least I learn something new as well. :P

Talking about Domaru fireteams, am I understanding it correctly that I can't run a pure Domaru haris but "only" duo,core, special haris and special core?
It's still better than it was before. Its 10 points cheaper and has EM grenades now. No, you can regular Haris domarus since there's a Domaru with Haris and they have Haris listed as an available fireteam on their sectorial army list. I think at this point all Harises where that isn't the case are marked as (Special Haris) on their profile or are named Umbra Samaritans.

I've been thinking about this, and a couple of ITS seasons ago? Yeah, I'd be thinking "ugh this sucks, expensive FO for the specialist in the team... ah well I guess I'd better take them anyway." But now? ITS is a lot less specialist intensive, and in some missions the more you have, the more vulnerable you are, as killing more specialists than the opponent is an objective! These days I tend to try to not waste my points on loads of specialists even when playing factions like Nomads and Haqq, where they are cheap and plentiful. In the list below, I don't need a FO in my main link. I've got all 4 types of specialist, one infiltrating, one fast, and two in support. There's even a bit of synergy; my FObot can keep pace with the link, and then the Ninja KHD can bounce through it's Repeater against any AHDs that try anything against my HI. Not foolproof, but pretty solid. I've got everything I need without dropping more points on an expensive FO that probably won't even do anything most of the time! Sure for some missions I'll want a more specialist heavy force, but am I really going to go for a Domaru for that job? No, I'll spam Keisotsu FOs of course! Its got two sources of both smoke and MSV 2. Its got some extra orders for Yojimbo encase I need them and just enough specialists. No, the O-yoroi is not a top tier TAG. Its a good TAG but shock ammo is far more useful than AP ammo. But its certainly powerful enough to handle most enemies while allowing JSA to have fun with a different playstyle using strong long range firepower.
