The big thing so far for the setting is the fog, it seems to be caused by/powering the Scions of Yaldaboath and slowly encroaching on everyone's territory. The Northern Tribes in particular seem to have been displaced by it, resulting in an alliance of Orcs and Varank migrating southwards as they are driven from their homes.

So we've got a setup not far from Infinity or a number of RPGs. Multiple nations that had been nicely coexisting with only the occasional Border conflict and deniable operation suddenly facing a slowly encroaching outside threat. This causes rising tensions between and within these nations in addition to the slowly rising power of "evil outsiders" (EI/Scions). Plus various smaller or neutral factions trying to make the best of the situation for their own advancement (JSA/Merchant Alliance/Tohaa/awful lava goblins)

A video with mostly already known info for someone following Warcrow, but I think they also speak about some mechanics that were not talked about in the official videos.

and it released this video with hoope:

Infinity creators talk new fantasy Warhammer rival Warcrow
At Gen Con 2023 we caught up with Hoopoe from Corvus Belli to talk shop about their brand new fantasy miniature wargame, Warcrow. As the creators of Infinity, Corvus Belli have a decent pedigree when it comes to skirmish wargames. We're excited to see how they compete with the likes of Warhammer with this original system and world. Hoopoe talks us through the mechanics, factions, lore, and what separates it from other games on the market (Infinity included) in this interview with Dicebreaker's own Wheels!

I saw it pop up on pinterest, seeing how algos recommendation works by interest groups and community, and that I subscribe to CB, there's a way it was used as inspiration for Warcrow's Black Legion or they consulted it.

It's the Black Legion from the Artesia comics, both legions have the particularity of typing in the same armor period and having black armors (it can also serve as inspiration).

You'll notice that the heroine from artésia has that little touch of Motoko from Gits manga, with a heroine often missing her pants

Ah so that paint job could have been a homage to that character from the comic?

It feels like an age, but Warcrow is nearly here! I'm really excited to see how this game plays; if the rule set is good then I'll be all in on this game, as the miniatures and lore-love are amazing. Fingers crossed!

    Great to hear from Warcrow!

Regarding the secret exclusive miniature: I hope it is a neutral "monster" (although it looks quiet humanoid) which is used for scenarios to bash both parties. It seems to hold some kind of staff or spear?

I can't wait for the lore book. I am intrigued by the fog and want to learn more about it.
To have a narrative focus/campaign also gets a thumb up from me. Is this some kind of tutorial "campaign" as the Infinity starters have? Or a three part campaign where you use all the miniatures available?

edit: And the dwarfen pickaxe/gun is great und fun. Rock and Stone!

    Adepticon Warcrow recap

Here's how the Warcrow box will look when launched at Code One style.

    Too "Pretty"

There will be cardboard scenery such as a house, barricades and a low wall, as well as 2d scenery such as a pond/woodland. This should satisfy both fans of the ETC scenery system and those of ASOAF. :smiling_imp: On the other hand, as there are a few less scenery elements, we'll be lucky to see money going into a pretty neoprene mat instead of a poster.

The table is fully covered with scenery, so it's probably safe to assume that there's a certain infinity style to the management of the table.

There'll be a narrative campaign in the box, and for once it won't be 50 missions that nobody will do, but something old-school, reasonable and achievable, like in the Battle Masters game. Here, we'll have 3 linked, app-based scenarios like in Dunjeon Crawler, so with lots of options a priori, and the scenario changes depending on whether you're playing it on the orc or human side, so a priori that would give 6 missions unless it's a split where each of the two players plays their story separately, and we're back to 3 missions.

The box preorder will be available from July 15, 2024 to August 04.

Then, from the official release in September, there will be a wave every month from October onwards.

The rules will be free and available on the internet and there are previews of these books.

Lore book to be ordered separately or as a bundle at preorder.

The next wave linked to the box will also see a Beyond box of 6 figs as with Infinity, of which has the previews defs.

Varanks transform into creatures according to their tattoos, so don't forget the freehands when painting.

And here's the bundle, which will include a collector's fig as always, note that the eyes glow through the silhouette, so we'd certainly be dealing with something evil on the face of it, perhaps an orc who's been zombified by the elves, just to give a taste of this faction.

There was a surprise mini for Warcrow at Adepticon, I've added the non-undercoated mini and photos of a mini that someone managed to finish.

I did the demo and it seems ok. I wish I could have done a longer demo to get a better feel. The figures are very nice. Even though siocast they have pretty good detail. Not as great as metal or resin but not bad at all. I'll probably wait for the Scions because I just don't like the usual elf, dwarf, human, generic fantasy stuff. That's the one thing I'm not liking about Warcrow so far. I wish it was a bit more original.
