I really liked the Marspider profile when they came out for Tunguska, but our local group has no interest in the Reinforcements system, so I've been patiently waiting for the Reinforcement profiles to be allowed in the standard list builds. And now I found out that the Marspider profile isn't in Tunguska. I'm not a frequent poster, and I try not to get upset about little things, but I am a little annoyed. I just bought the ($95 CAD) box for the Marspiders and the Rounder. I have no interest in the Kulaks, and I can't use the Prowler in a standard list, so at this point I bought six models, and I really have use for only one. Not impressed, CB. I like CB because they listen to their players, so here's my feedback. Put the Marspiders back in, or at least give us a good reason why they're not in the standard Tunguska list.
Can I also open a "No Marspiders in Corregidor", please? A bit disappointed as well (even if it was expected based on the logo of the unit), the concept of 8-legged engineers crawling on the outer hull of some spaceship to fix it looked so Corregidor to me...
Can we all just take a minute and admire the fact that Tunguska has just been massively buffed twice with the addition of zellenkrieger and now nco/chain of command in rounders and kulaks.
Massively buffed, no, not really, Rounders and Kulaks and not bad, but they are far from been a massive update, if they made pure teams or were more widely distributed, maybe, but they are not at the same disruptive level Zellenkriegers been introduced in Tunguska.
I would claim that even Zellenkriegers aren't too disruptive for Tunguska. Getting cheap smoke is nice, but we had smoke before, and outside of the undergunned Cheerkiller we have no MSV2 to really make use of it either. And as far as warbands go, Motorized Bounty Hunters are still arguably better, simply because they're faster. I will say that it's better to take a Zellenkrieger and an MBH though compared to taking two MBHs before. But I'd like to be proven wrong.
Zondnautica and Perseus are not the same, Zondnautica is not a reliable smoke unit and Perseus is not a disposable unit, Zellenkriegers have added a reliable (depending on the metachemistry roll an extremely reliable) smoke unit that is also a disposable one, you can use them to block a pathway, but more importantly clear an objective room. Tunguska is surprisingly low on MSV units to take advantage of the smoke, maybe the Grenzers and now Rounders can do a trick with it and Cheerkiller has become somewhat better in her surprising niche of hunting mid range low armoured non shock immune one wound units, but what Zellenkriegers really added is a cheap, reliable, smoke unit that is capable in close combat and is disposable. Kullaks are nice, chain of command is expensive for Tunguska and not something the normal Tunguska really fears, Interventors are by their nature not that easy to get killed, but allow finally a solo Kirza Borak LT play, though it will be a rather niche play, rounders are nice for a mixed Securitate fireteam and the NCO will come in play since Tunguskan LTs rarely use their order, but again, nothing groundbreaking, will be nice to see how they do in a Haris though and for a mixed core of Securitate it is an extra hacker that is also a mini killer hacker, for any other sectorial that would be amazing, Tunguska is just full of hackers.
And yet, the concept of 8-legged engineers crawling on the outer hull of some spaceship to fix it looks much more Corregidor than Bakunin. Not saying that Corregidor needed them but Bakunin feels odd for them.
IMO Corregidor would be magboots and jetpacks, something practical and utilitarian. The Doc Ock wannabes are definitely more in keeping with Bakunin's nonsense to me.
As fluff goes, Marspiders were initially Martians and not initially of Nomads origin, RedSky is a Nomads station, but practically a Black labs off grid site, what made Marspiders, Marspiders is the Black labs overseer who got frustrated by the stations construction been constantly sabotaged. There is of course a more in depth fluff about it but this is the short cliff notes. I quite like it, it gives a nice fluff on why Bakunin of all places would have a construction crew and why they are so militant, also an interesting way for a non Nomads population to become a Nomads population. Could some exist in Corregidor? maybe? I mean space construction is something mainly done by Corregidor, but they would be even more rare than in Bakunin.
Yep, corregidorans basically got shown the door. Also, if I'm reading this correctly, the OP bet on being able to play certain miniatues at some point the future and is now upset because he lost that wager?
To be honest, it was kind of a crappy move from CB selling 80$ boxes without even telling people in which faction they'll be playable... This never happened before.
To be fair, as it is evident from the blog post, they were never intended to be part of the main list or any of the sectorials, they become part of them because there was such a big demand them to be so.
I am sorry but I do not get your and other peoples point regarding complaints about those boxes and the current roll out. Those boxes were sold as Reinforcement Boxes, with decent fluff for all the new units of their origin, affiliations and so on. They were not marketed as "Will be in your Army List soon" Boxes. This was an assumption you made up yourself. You made the decision to buy a Reinforcement box based on your own assumptions (getting all profiles in your army list) and now you are unhappy that CB did not fulfill your assumption? An assumption that CB never encouraged? Is this what your complaints are about? You made a decision, now you are unhappy how it turned out and blame someone else for your own decision??
It is not like Corregidor needs any more units. Including Climbing Plus, Zero-G-capable Engineers (Tomcats have had that covered since N2HS). And I'm saying this as (among others) a Corregidor player. Corregidor is already, hmm, opulently served in terms of troops available and abilities covered.
Correct! But just from the view I thought that the spiders are Corregidor. After reading their fluff in Endsong I was a bit dissapointed that they are Bakunin. The Kulak instead, emergency unit vs raids on black labs are not Bakunin but Tunguska because they were created by Dragnet. So we end up without a single CJC unit in the Vipera box ... that makes my Corregidor heart a bit sad, I mean we missed out the Aftermath box already Which leads me to the question: Why there are no Geckos in RF?
And CB changed its mind because the sales were low, something we can perfectly understand because a lot of people didn't want to buy minis they can't play or play this... hum... let's say "suboptimal" reinforcements mode... And CB changed its mind because the sales were low, something we can perfectly understand because a lot of people didn't want to play It wouldn't be an issue if Reinforcements was not such a terrible game mode, that was clearly invented to sell minis ("buy that now or you can't play this new mode!") rather than to actually improve the game. I'll also add that if the Reinforcements made was nice and fun, maybe most people would have bought the minis. But as it is poorly tested and rather crappy, well... :) But this discussion belong to that other thread. They surely didn't need it but the mini would have been a perfect fit for Corregidor. Again, 8-legged engineers crawling on the outer hull of some spaceship to fix it... :) P.S : speaking about a faction that wouldn't need any buff right now, I'm pretty sure Bakunin is on the list... :p
