I always loved Merc armies and seeing how all the misfits in the infinity universe Join together just makes me happy. Also we got yourself an excellent excuse to buy models form other factions. I am looking forward to the Jaguars. Do you guys think we will se a Vanilla Na2 list? What other models would you like to see in the faction? Personally i would like some Shavaasti or Rouge Aleph AI. Jsa still seems pretty monogamous do think it will change? Do you want it to change?
I'm pretty sure they said NO Na2 Vanilla. I'm pretty happy to see JSA leave though, as a lot of people in my local meta play YJ and it's really funny to see them upset. I think we'll be moving away from NA2 for awhile after uprising. I think CB will push through the other sectorial releases this year before we see anymore updates outside of StarCo and Ikari. Perhaps some new sculpts or drip feed releases for the gaps in JSA models.
I think you might mistake a few concepts here....we are part of the Non Alligned Armies now, that doesn't make us a mercenary corporation....far from it actually. Have you taken a look at the roster of JSA? It's 100% Japanese Units if I'm not mistaken, no foreign mercenaries or units at all, and if pieces of the fluff I saw are right, there's a reason for that too.. (not too tolerant of those filthy foreigners anymore..) I really wonder how this will play into the next online Campaign, as I doubt the goals of Ikari or StarCo would necessarily align with the goals of JSA... I am frankly not very happy with the split from Yu Jing, Infinity portraits a possible future "united asian nation" with cultural diversity and whatnot, if only Japan finally earned its trust and was deemed fully fledged citizens...now instead of rebelling to achieve that goal, which would have made everyone stronger in the end, we split away, leaving everyone weaker, in the face of an alien attack soon to come....not the smartest move... I do however love the idea of no longer being part of the universe's whipping boys for once, so maybe the other factions at least won't gang up on us next campaign like they tend to do with Yu Jing...
Don't worry, Yasashi, it's them there commies that people gang up on. Fascist oppression regimes are fine.
Hi all, hi Fuyu San, During wotan and previous campaign it's been clear that the faction with the most players had a massive advantage, to the point where for it didn't matter how many losses the biggest faction took. Listening to latest mayacast, the feeling is shared by many it seems. Yu jing no Yu jing, noodles no noodles it didn't make a difference. We had some quality batreps, and although dissident element of Yu jing already starTed to voice their secessionist tendencies (a-hhrm) we got trampled. So unless the campaign changes not being part of Yu jing will not matter. NA2 brings however a bit of freshness. Whilst the NA2 armies won't win wars they may be given smaller objectives, alliances (and yes JSA is nor a merc faction) and contribute to a grander scheme. Anti alien, securing territories, elimitating traitor ninjas... Nothing stops diplomacy (will have to work hard) to work this gs out with Yu jing. This time however it would be on same sovereign state level, not as 2nd class subjects. Jedkar Mifune
Oh I don't mean the result of the campaign for JSA that will improve, we most likely won't achieve that much, unless our numbers are much bigger than I anticipate. We will however have much more fun from a fluff standpoint, no more "No we won't ally with you, you are evil Yu Jing people who want to enslave everyone", no more "We units against you because you are evil Yu Jing people who want to enslave everyone", no more "Yeah that Combined Army Invasion over there is bad, but who cares, we will still attack you because you are evil Yu Jing people who want to enslave everyone". From now on it'll be "Sure, we'll ally with you, we helped you rise up against Yu Jing, so we expect good cooperation" "Sure you attack this area, we'll deal with Yu Jing there"...and so on :-P Also I don't expect the overall campaign fluff to "stomp" on JSA, so our initial position would most likely be much more favourable from a fluff position.
I think the secession is a little too early. I think that Yu Jing should have gotten the Invincible Army either first or at the same time. Now going into the Global Campaign YJ is already on the back foot through no reasons of the player base and that is a bit unfair and not too fun. As for what I think is good, I think it is great that the fluff is moving on. YJ has for a LONG time stomped on the JSA and treated them like inferiors and it is no surprise that the JSA finally fought for their independence. I am glad the story is moving forward, I just wish it was done with a bit more...grace perhaps.
It's important, I think, to keep it separate whether players have been "stomping on JSA" or whether it is the dictate of CB that did it.
That was the fluff of JSA and YJ. JSA were treated like second class citizens, and used as cannon fodder. I doubt people actually played that out IRL cause I mean...that would just be mean.
From what I gather from these forums, YJ player did make some questionable decisions during campaigns which resulted in people being more willing to stomp on them than it would be just because of CB's will, at least. That really depends on who you ask though.
Yeah, people in the online campaign all had their own idea of what the fluff meant and acted differently on it. CB might want to steer the story in the correct direction by removing the oppression from Yu Jing (i.e. removing the JSA) and making the story say that this oppression might not have been without cause. Not only so that people don't go throwing around Soviet era make belief communist rhetoric, but it might still be contributing to it. (Of note, read the news on Xi Jinping and compare his more soft spoken and controlled rhetoric, where Xi manages to be both the voice of reason in the world and tightening his iron grip on China as well as markets that have been poorly handled by US and EU mega corps)
I can guarantee you, that when you look through the Yu-Jing forum "filthy japanese" or something like it will be something you find more than once.
Yeah, it would have been good to say, YJ isn't getting screwed here, you're getting a new sectorial to replace the JSA this year. Yeah, I usually write that off as in-character trash talk.
Maybe, I am just saying this, I have been playing Yu-Jing and Infinity for a year now and there is a reason I have only started becoming active in the forum, after the split.
JSA does employ a few mercenaries, mainly the characters. I'm actually really interested to see what they're going to do with them and if they're going to go regular. its more or less confirmed that miyamoto (who is a merc) is going regular (He can Harris with tankos, you have to be the same training to link team, tankos can link with domaru, yada yada yada)
Fair enough. Some folks take that quite personally, and I can assure you that I have my own hot-button issues. Yes, but those are *Japanese* mercs. The JSA isn't hiring Druze.
Well, apart from the artificial consciousness in a vat grown cybernetically enhanced Lhost body, he only thinks he's Japanese.
Say that to his face, I dare you! :-P Geez, must have run into some vicious fellows then, so far I can only agree that all the "filthy Japanese" talk in the Yu Jing areas (if any at all occured before the rebellion) was pure ingame banter by people enjoying the fluff. I think the main problem wasn't that YJ players made questionable decisions, but rather that their decisions where put in question by CB itself in official posts, while other factions equally questionable decisions where not. If your faction decides to abandon an area because of tactical reasons, and to aim for another area for tactical and fluff reasons, it's not very helpful of CB to make a post claiming that the area was lost due to incompetent leadership and lack of coordination, when in reality it was the exact opposite, and the value of said area was basically non existing...this frustrated the playerbase that worked hard to coordinate their efforts, and leaves them feeling betrayed by "a higher power" they have no influence over... I think the best example would be what happened in Strikezone Wotan.....at first everyone was given valuable military assets to defend, and we were happy to defend our battleship while sending troops to investigate the Shasvastii Infiltration on the Nomad station, as it made fluff sense.....in comes CB with a secret mission, demanding that we attack an Ariadnan Armoury for no reason other than "they refused to cooperate in our investigations" (which the playerbase never did...).....this opened the gate for our Battleship to get contested by Tohaa, and BAM, it's suddenly gone, no explanation given as to why or where it went at all, just gone, even though we think we actually held it in the end in %... Next phase, and the Combined Break into the system, and what do we get? A diplomatic station to defend....a nice thing to have in times of peace or confusion, but at that moment the situation was clear, we had to stop the CA, so we claimed that the Station would be open for everyone's wounded and war refugees, and left to attack the Combined Army Ship, Haqqislam took the offer and claimed they'd station defensive troops there....it made fluff sense to us, nobody in the human sphere would care if the station would burn, but if CA broke through, they would...and in comes Corvus Belli, writing news reports about Haqqislam storm troopers boarding the Station, murdering the left behind Japanese canon fodder......and we were like "Wtf man? We never left Japanese behind as canon fodder, and we let them (Haqq) in on purpose to seem helpful to the overall cause...." but nope, that would have been too nice a thing for Yu Jing to do, too "for a good future" for Yu Jing apparently...instead we once again where shoved back into the villain route, and into the incompetent villain route at that... Anyways, I don't want to go into more detail here as I'd likely rant even more, lets just say that CB clearly decided for Yu Jing to act and behave in a certain way during the campaign, and that way didn't ring well with its playerbase as we generally don't enjoy being treated like second class comic book villains when the fluff clearly indicates we are much more than that. The fact that every other faction just jumped on the YJ is a second class comic book villain train as well, didn't help much.
