It's not just about the material, it's also about how it's used. Very modern, most recent CMON PVCs are insanely good.

Zombicide 2ed has excellent PVC minis which would not be out of place next to Infinity metals. I have those at hand right now, zenithal primed, no way to make decent pics though, so just gonna say - this is the render and they have all those details and sharp.

Or Rising Sun I mentioned before for that matter:

Without CMON's level of technological expertise and financial investment, most PVC minis will be mediocre though at best (later Aristeia), or completely horrible (Aristeia Core, that poor Gata).

Similarly, Siocast can produce great results, but some companies can struggle with it, like CB seems to be doing at the start. At this point, I'd much rather get CMON level PVCs if they're available than meh quality Siocasts. And, at the same time, actually good Siocasts, especially from the harder and easier to clean new material, which should also hold sharper detail in S2 scale, rather than any PVC at all.

As you can imagine, we're constantly working on improving our thermoplastic miniatures, and investigating & trying new formulas that can fit with our way of working and our desired level of quality and detail. So yes, that new formula you're talking about is one of them that we're testing and working with :)

Also, let me clarify in this thread too (as I did in the Warcrow one) that Warcrow Adventures (Dungeon Crawler) will have plastic miniatures like the ones of the latest Aristeia! expansions; and Warcrow the wargame will have the thermoplastic miniatures made by us here at our HQ like the ones we're manufacturing lately, as the Bearpode for Ariadna, or the latest remotes like the Fuzzbots or Probots.

I just hope that people who will design warcrow miniatures will take material into account and avoid all these tiny swords and polearms. They just keep getting bent. But hey, a least they are cheaper and core box with minis might be within 100-ish eur...
If that would be Aristeia's chinesium PVC - they will be produced by CB's partners in China? Is everything okay with global logistics nowadays? Would be a shame if Kickstarter gets a year delay again.

I think the global logistics are fine at the moment even given the current state of world affairs. Packages I’ve sent abroad through Europe to Asia have gotten there fine and vice versa. This could change rapidly though as the world is a seemingly insane place. It would indeed be a shame if the kickstarters were delayed again.

Is there a safe way to "bend" siocast? Like with resin cast and hot water?
At some point of sub assembly of my Vostoks I noticed that one leg is visibly bent and it seems there's no way to fix it other than cutting leg at the base and regluing it. Tried to bend it back - it snapped off in the middle.

I'd just ask for replacement. It's a miscast piece.

Also, did they look so horrible from the start or is this after some failed sanding attempt? All that rough surface?

Since this time the Kickstarter will be also available in retailers, maybe they started already the fabrication and for the KS they will only have to do the some extras and strech goals

I don't think they said anything about retail availability. There's just going to be a retailer pledge, just like with previous of their Kicks.

Well, I wouldn't call it a *failed* attempt myself, it's not THAT visible to the eye. All legs I've had so far have a visible mold line in the middle. I think I used a diamond file on the "leg track" parts since it was the only thing small enough that I had, other parts were 400-grit sandpaper. I didn't bother too much with that since that part would be glued to the base anyway.

Breaking news. Siocast released a video of Bostria talking about the new Siores Hard resin, so it's official, CB has switched to this new resin/plastic.

Metal Bostria was costing them too much in excess weight fees when they flew him to conventions.

I've seen a random vid from an Adepticon presentation where they pressed some fantasy minis on the spot in the new material and showed them off on camera. They were really crisp, sharp and deep detail, seemingly defect free, very good on the biological sculpts (they were some barbarian dudes).

With good moulds I could probably put up with S2 Infinity minis in that material.

Interesting indeed. Any idea for a link to this? If the resin is durable and provides excellent detail this could indeed be the way forward.

Nah, it was shown somewhere in one of the Adepticon threads on Bolter and Chainsword (40k forum), no way I can dig this up now. It's jus a few seconds anyway, but the minis looked really crisp.

And metal Bostria would have been recycled into a new Hoopoe ?
Then all suddenly makes sense here.
