Kaeltar lost the mention "triad" in the Fireteam chart that was updated today. Is this intended? Is this a oversight? @Koni @ijw @HellLois Is there a changelog? That would go a long way into double checking possible oversights. (The date of the document also still says November 17th 2020 on the top right corner) Thanks a lot!
Someone on the Facebook Tohaa group asked the same question and a user answered... "I've been talking with HellLois about this last week, and he told me two things: the fireteam charts disappearance is on the table and that the Army has priority above the charts since it is easier to update than charts. Well, it was three things actually. Kaeltars do have fireteam triad in Tohaa." I think it should be a good indication that the Kaeltar missiong triad in the chart is an mistake and that they didn't simply invalidate every single N4 lists!
They seem to have been busy with other projects... Like HSN4 Per HellLois' words: only the ITS document, rules, annex and FAQ have validity. Anything else does not. Then again, yeah, he also said in the same channel to look the army. Which makes a mess. But considering Diacash just announced HSN4 "soon", I think we will get the final stuff in there, with the removal of the Annex and the HS pointing to the Army (which I hope they will update, because if I go to the army, and only the Army, all fireteams but Core are present in Vanilla... Now, it would be funny to see a Enomotarchos of Phoenix + Parvati + 2 myrms, and Posthumans providing cover, but I don't think it would be sane...)
Typical Spanish mess https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/june-o-awards.39764/page-6#post-407032 and following posts wondering what is going on between CB and DC.
Fireteam Charts just got updated. Kaeltar got their triad back and the date is correct, great success!
Hmm, Kriigel still have regular triad in Army (as distinct from Reex which correctly have special fireteam). Sort of hoping Kriigel keep regular triad becuse I've been using them for some fun jank recently.
Well you can't just leave us hanging like that, what have you been doing with them? I assume Mirrorball/Eraser shenanigans + Grenade Launcher things, since the Phero-booster has... issues
Hah! So it was actually at least partly the pherobooster. I was running functional 'duos' of a makaul and a Kriigel pherobooster in kill missions. The kriigel already doesn't benefit much from being in a full triad because the pherobooster is a technical weapon, but it's honestly a pretty interesting weapon, hitting two dice on 16s against targets without mimetism or a firewall thanks to ignoring cover (and also not having its DAM reduced by cover - two dice sucks but the rest of the weapon is high impact). Throw that in with the kriigel's other utility and he makes a good cheap way of helping a makaul get up the table into melee and being annoying in the midfield (both with eraser and mirrorballing the two of them in ARO if needed). Theoretically I could easily slap another troop in there to make a proper triad but I'm increasingly aware of how much risk is involved moving even 3-person teams up en masse into the midfield and am trying to keep assets protected. This is a bit of an experiment on that.
Blasphemy, you can't make Triads with 2 members! (Outside of being blasphemy, it's also invalid in-game)
Good point - for clarity, there are two worthwhile ways to get a two-man triad moving if you want to intentionally tinker with 'duos' in Tohaa. The first is to just leave a model behind - typically something like a Kaeltar that you want to leave in the backfield to save losing the order / points. The other is to include your lieutenant in a fireteam then spend the lieutenant order to break them out. I really like running +1 Order Taquels independently so this is my go-to. As a rule I have found two-man triads to be useful in missions where there are few specialist objectives and points are on the line for kills, so you want to expose as little of your army to the enemy as possible. The kriigel + makaul is an interesting one, and a sakiel spitfire + makaul is also an extremely cost-effective kill-team (sort of a build-your-own-Rasail). For any mission where you need to move a specialist upfield alongside the rest of your force and with any gun with less than four burst you'll almost always want the full triad.
Sorry for hitting this zombie , but I can't seem to find the answer this question: With Triads, can you combine any three units with the Triad skill or is it three of the same unit?
Triads allow any three Troopers with the Triad skill. This is what makes it different to a Haris. https://infinitythewiki.com/Types_of_Fireteam
Thanks! I didn't go far enough down the rabbit hole in Army. I read the skill link, but didn't follow through to the fire team type link.
I am not sure why I never put it together that the Pherobooster being a comms attack ignores partial cover. Also Dodge cannot be used as a face to face, and it does not like tinbots. Good to know.
You need to read the rules, the rules annex, the FAQ, and the ITS documents. Fortunately, only those books and the Army have value as rules, but the forum is useful to be aware of the doubts people have and the explanations of why, and the exploits that get found.
