Either you have this flipped or you are wrong. Geisha bots show up in GitS:SAC episode 1, which came out in October 2002, 4 years before N1.
Hmmmm, laughing man. I forgot them. I was thinking of the manga and the original film. Speaking of GitS anime, what’s your opinion of the Netflix ova? I’ve only watched the first 2 episodes; during lockdown and still haven’t made up my mind whether I want to watch the remainder.
Do you mean the Arise OVA or 2045? I haven't gotten around to watching Arise yet, but 2045 was very average at best. It's definitely not GitS as you know it, but if you like the characters, it's more of them?
I can't not like a gender swapped Canti from FLCL. How hard is sculpting jackets? Asking for a friend :P
Probably the only miniature I'd allow to have a Portable Autocannon on JSA (Panzerfaust would fit and is much more JSA's tech, but wouldn't be as FLCL). Transmutation (Auto) -> Cannon.
I saw em first in GitS, humanoid bots obviously are everywhere in anime but I mean, the first things I watched were Akira and Tank Police, then Cowboy Bebop and GitS. I couldn't get into much else after that unless it was like those. I mean, I barely watched DBZ with friends, and Naruto filler is almost bad. I do obviously recommend anything Ninja Scroll, Gantz and PsychoPass. Gantz actually made yokai the way I imagine them. Everything here is mature, and I'll rewatch anything Studio Ghibli but where those look cute, their themes are mature.
Also, Samirai Champloo, Boondocks and the Avatar franchise. I'm not opposed to anime it's just, the most childish thing I'll recommend actually deals with child abuse, genocide, and trauma in the Avatar franchise.
I mean, you could just say you dislike certain genres of media, anime or not, instead of subtly calling people childish.
2045 I think; the (ex? pre?) section 9 team are in Mexico? or southern USA. I have Arise on bluray- not bad but man the gitsac chronology is hard to make coherent. In my defence, when I see GITS I think manga/ mamoru oishii- GitS sac is a different thing in my mind.
I didnt tell anyone they were childish... And okay, I dont like shows focused on children... Haa. I was recommending for anyone who hasn't watched any of those. Except maybe Tank Police. It was the first thing I ever watched. Which lead to GitS but even Tank Police is a stretch for me now.
Homicidal gynoid bots were in the bubblegum crisis spinoff "Parasite dolls" and ADP profiles long before GiTS used them. Gits is not the be-all and end-all of anime mecha (but it's still a crapton better than gundam ... :p )
An easy way how you can tell an anime show is targeted at children is they are not predetermined to be a limited series.
Dono if the Gundam shows I love are targeted for children especially the 70s original unicorn seed and iron blooded orphans not to mention the models and games both video and tabletop. I admit sunrise hasn't done a decent Gundam show for few years but that is because they switch their focus to idol animes that sell better. As for GitS after the original run ended we haven't gotten anything good. PS: Kiras Freedom is still my favorite Gundam
Protagonists that aren't children is a pretty good filter too. But being childish is not necessarily bad. Zoids Chaotic Century is a children's show aimed at selling robot animals to children but it's still the best and most nuanced republic vs empire story after Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Foolishly I torrented Helensagen vom Kosmosinsel years ago, but didn’t back it up. Windows 8 bro. Since then I’ve used a Mac.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a great book and anime I did not like the ship designs much in the anime but everything else was perfection PS: you can watch it on Crunchyroll
The empire ships are beautiful, FPA ships are so ugly that it's hard to cheer them on. That said, FPA has better ship names.
