    Hello everyone,

I just finished to read the Varuna tactica (thanks to the author), so I wanted to share the core of my list. I need advices because this will be my buying list, I don't have any varuna miniatures for the moment :

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]9
KAMAU (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 32)

I think that core will be good in any missions, what are your thoughts?

Now, there is 65 points and 2 SWC to fill to finish the list. Depending on the mission, I thought about bringing :

    OPTION 1

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]1 [IMG]2
PATSY GARNETT Submachine Gun, Nimbus Plus Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14)

    2 SWC | 65 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

    OPTION 2

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]1 [IMG]3
    ECHO-BRAVO Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 25)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Shock Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Shock Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13)

    2 SWC | 65 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

OPTION 3 (I will need to find 5 points somewhere)

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]1 [IMG]2
    ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Shock Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Shock Marksman Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13)

    2 SWC | 70 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

    OPTION 4

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]1 [IMG]3
CROC MAN (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 32)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Red Fury / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9)
HELOT MILITIAMAN Submachine Gun, Light Rocket Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 9)

    2 SWC | 64 Points

So, what are your thoughts about all this? Do you have any other options? Should I swap some things in my core?

Depending on the scenario there are a lot of things which you might want to swap out, or do with those remaining points.

That is a pretty solid base 'though, and options 2, 3 and 4 all look very viable to add into it.

You will probably also want a second box of DroneBot remotes, as a Pathfinder (or two) and a Sierra (or two) can also be useful options to have up your sleeve, and a Clipper is a great backup ARO piece for some Varuna builds (remember it can also go into the Fusilier Core).

I firmly agree with everything @AdmiralJCJF said above.

I’d also add, that it’s worth using the spitfire Zulu Cobra as a marksman rifle proxy (unless you want to do the modeling to make it happen) and/or purchasing a second jammer Zulu. Saving the SWC can leave room for the ORC and a couple of helots with light rocket launchers.

Yes I know, this is the option that came to my mind, but i'm sure there's plenty more ;)
May I ask you why the option 1 doesn't look viable to you?
Ok, thanks I will buy that too !

Same question, may I ask you why the option 1 doesn't look viable to you?
Thanks for the modelling advice lol.

Option 1 falls down because Patsy is basically a support piece, she's "nice to have" with something else that she supports. On her own she's neither particularly threatening (the SMG is largely a defensive gun not an offensive one) nor psychologically impactful (she won't cause your opponent to stop and rethink their course of action). You'd typically want to take her as a 3rd man in a Haris with an HMG; she can slap a -6 and a -1B on AROs dramatically improving the odds vs fireteams while maintaining a B4 offense, she brings a specialist and D-charges upfield, but she's a lot of points that can be quite easily substituted by a machinist for a lot fewer.

Compare these two Haris teams for example:

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]3
PATSY GARNETT Submachine Gun, Nimbus Plus Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 37)
    KAMAU HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28)
    KAMAU Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20)
    1 SWC | 85 Points

    with

    Varuna Immediate Reaction Division
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────
    [IMG]3
    KAMAU HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28)
KAMAU (Fireteam: Haris) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21)
MACHINIST (Varuna Div.) (CH: Mimetism, Stealth, Aquatic Terrain) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 17)
    1.5 SWC | 66 Points

Now you already have both the HMG and the Machinist, so you could make either of these, but you've got a lot of gunfighting options already with the ZC so it sort of falls into redundant territory.

This sectorial looks very fun to play though, I love Camo and Decoy gameplay.

Patsy's purpose is to bring an ORC Haris or Core up to the field with NCO and being the compulsory specialist in the link of face-punchers.
