No way to know right now, but between that and the Haiduk, I’m wondering if sappers will stay a 25mm base size while foxholed in N4. Right now they have that ability to gain lof while not providing an ARO. It’s not a bad interaction, but I can see it leaving just for streamlining.
The new Haiduk is on a 40mm base, so I'd say they'll almost certainly keep the larger Silhouette for foxholes.
Where did you manage to find an Acontecimento Regular? I do know that they are out of production now: did you bought it when they were still in production?
can’t remember where I read it, but a rule of thumb when it comes to painting a miniature is that the two most focal points of a miniature is the face and base.
I will never understand why they did not make Sapper models a two-pack, one with the foxhole on a 40mm base and one model on the standard sized S2 base.
Absolutely; my point was simply that there wasn't a concept of the model changing size as part of that back then. The S3 thing they added in N3 was more about reflecting the actual state of the sculpts than anything else. They could have had them be permanently S3 (and maybe they should have), but it makes some intuitive sense to have them be S2 when not dug in, since they're still fundamentally just normal sized troopers. Maybe this is changing again in N4, who knows. The new Haiduk doesn't really look like it's conforming to S3 to me; I think it's standing up too tall.
You see, in N4 models with Sapper are S3 both while in Foxhole and when out of it, due to the wheel barrow they have when moving the sandbags around.
That's what I did with my Alpha, but instead of cutting out a base, I just greenstuffed up a bit of a texture with two spots for the human and the remote to each be on a normal base. Later on I added magnets to the bases and washers to the spots, just because. At some point I may change out the greenstuff for something more consistent with the other O12's, but meh, not worried about it. So if I need them for proxy, I'll just pop them out. I don't have any sappers, so haven't encountered that problem yet. :)
That would be nice, but when did we last get a 'Sapper-looking' model from them? Was it the Tohaa one?
We did but it was on a 25mm base so I don't tend to think of it as a "sapper style" miniature. Though it is an awesome sculpt.
I forgot the Acon starter resculpt had a sapper sniper in it. Making it 25mm but in a sapper-like pose was an interesting decision...
