I have a tournament with Countermeasures, Safe Area and Trasmissione Matrix. I usually play Steel Phalanx but i want to try OSS. This is my first list, could it be good? And the second list would be this one: Tou15-12 300-2 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 MARUT Lieutenant (Strategos L3) MULTI HMG, Heavy Flamethrower, Nanopulser / AP CCW. Nothing glaring about either one. I'd personally try to get a Yudbot into the Marut list though. What is your gameplan with each list/mission?
Not a huge fan of the 2 lamdeh combat group its just an excuse to lose orders when you might need to go first but thats just a personel prefrence there. The rudra you might find a bit redundant with the guns you have in that haris already i would maybe swap out for a deva or even the multi yadu if you want mines. So many rems and no normal hacking device seems like a bit of a waste because your missing out on that marksmanship level 2, that on a dikini hmg in a link team with aspara is just disgusting. I like both link teams but I dont like them in the same list as they step on each othes toes a little when you could have some nagas with mines etc blocking up the midfield/button pushers or space for redunant dakinis leave a multi sniper out in an awkward aro then when he dies reform the link with a spare one who has been kicking about and possibly even repair the dakini
Agreed with some suggestion, here is the first list updated: Tou15-12 SSS 300-1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 SHAKTI Lieutenant Hacker (Killer Hacking Device. Bear in mind that you cannot benefit from Ghost: Jumper Level Z AND Assisted Fire Supportware (or any other REM Supportware) at the same time. "A trooper cannot benefit from a Supportware program and from this Special Skill at the same time." http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Ghost_(G)#Ghost:_Jumper_LZ
Of course totally forgot about that! Yeah i would take assisted fire over aspara nearly everytime then and even take a proxy mk1 with hacking device
Each has its advantages. Apsara doesn't require an order, affect all the remotes in the same fireteam, and also gives number 2. Plus it is active from the beginning even if you start second. But, it does requires a fireteam (it can't affect a single model) and may require additionnal orders if the fireteam has to be reformed. Assisted fire is a bit more powerful, but requires an order per turn, focus only one target, and requires the target to be in hacking range. Overall, i prefer the apsara for a dakini link, especially if it is meant to be defensive, and assisted fire on a rudra (which has its own repeater), but it's just my opinion.
Assisted Fire has a two turn duration. You can spend another order to renew it, sure, but you shouldn't need to run the program more than two times. The effects of Assisted Fire persist until the end of the following Player Turn after the declaration of this Hacking Program, at which point you must remove all corresponding Markers. http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Assisted_Fire I'd say that Apsara is better if you go second, since you have overall better dice (on 16s most likely) and you won't lose your fireteam due to Number 2, preventing you from losing the ARO Burst bonus. If you go first, I'd say that HMG on 17s (+3 for range and for 5-man link) ignoring cover are strictly better than the Apsara setup.
In a usual game there are 3 rounds, each has 2 player turn: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Game_Sequence So, assisted fire last for your current player turn and your opponent player turn. Thus, you may need 3 orders to make it last for the whole game. As for apsara vs assisted fire, it is, well, debatable. If you're only considering the BS/damage rolls, yes, assisted fire is strictly superior. However, you may consider: 1. the apsara should not require an order per turn 2. the apsara's bonus is not limited to one miniature, only one miniature at the same time (for ex. you may want to use your MSR first, then your HMG, then during your reactive turn the combi dakini will use it) 3. assisted fire does not grant a BS bonus but ignore the cover mod. Meaning you have no bonus if the target has no cover to begin with, while apsara grants a pure BS bonus 4. number 2 is also a protection during the active turn, since your active shooter may be taken down and cancel the fireteam. You can reform it at once, but it will still cost you a command token, which you may want for something else (especially if it's your first turn and your opponent limited you to 1 command token) 5. it is highly situational on dakinis, but the apsara also grants CC and WIP bonuses So, while assisted fire is indeed very good, the apsara grants some other benefits. Which is better depends on the situation.
You want a piece that wants to spend orders in group 2. The 2 Lamedh and the Netrod are just wasting their orders in that list. You ideally want your netrods to be in group 1. Hacker (that plan on using assisted fire) or Engineers are usually good troopers to put in g2 as they do not take away your offensive G1 orders to support your group and give you some way to spend them. I would highly suggest replacing a dakini with a CSU in your link teams, it is much better than the 5th generic dakini imo as it provides the link with template and better close range capabilities. In your first list, if you want a generic hacking device to buff your remotes, the Danavas is miles ahead of the Deva. Having access to White Noise in invaluable. The Apsara and the Danavas compete for similar point cost and offer pros and cons, Apsara has advantages if going second, Assisted Fire is a bit stronger (+1 effective BS and Shock compared to the Apsara). I think the deciding factor is wether (and why I chose the Danavas over Apsara more often than not) is White Noise.
I didn't say that Assisted Fire granted BS bonuses... I literally said the dice are on 17s because they go from base 11 to +3 for link team to 14s and then another +3 for good range band (17). Same way with the Apsara your good dice are on 16s (13 BS base, +3 for range, +3 for 5-man link, -3 for cover). Since you will run a mixed team of Dakinis and Devas, the WIP bonuses aren't really that important if one of the Devas is an Hacker, which it should, since it makes the requirement of the Target being in the Hacking Area also a non issue. I mentioned turn duration, because you can have a good active and reactive turn, making the need to keep Assisted Fire running less relevant, since the odds are on the Dakini's favors to win most F2F, I wasn't clear on my statement.
Also worth noting that while the Apsara is a bit more order efficient on the first turn, it is much less order efficient it is much less order efficient when you need to reform your link. If your HMG dies in active turn and you repair it with an engineer and reform the link, assisted fire will stay active. If your HMG dies in active turn and you repair it with an engineer and reform the link, the apsara will need to spend an order to re-apply her buff.
Maybe something like this, I also mainly play SP but i like to alternate with OSS for a change of flavor. Tired to take notes of the previous comments but also keep the main idea of your original list. Tou15-12 SSS 300-1 ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 NETROD . (0 | 10) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Now you still have that dangerous and resilient Harris, your Core si still cheap but now benefits from the Apsara better, i think and specially if you go second, on defense without taking its main punching power. Now your Second group has things to do, from recovering troops, making objectives, to aid group one with Suportware (for the Dakinis or the Rudra) and white noise if needed, also maybe you can hunt down or make some objective with the Mk1, this without taking orders from your main group, that probably would be of 8 orders if you go first.
Is still a 5 man Core (3 Dakini + CSU + Samekh) and maybe if the game could benefit from having Shakti and Rudras solo (or a Harris with who members) and the Deva as a wildcard for the core if you lose a piece and keep the 5 man Bonus.
You're missing the point entirely. The point is: ignoring cover is only relevant if the opponent has a cover to begin with. Impetuous have no cover, and with some pieces (mostly our climbing+ remotes, rudra and zayin) it's not unusual to catch the opponent out of cover. True. Note that i did point that in my first post :) On the other hand, if you don't want to repair your downed dakini for any reason (for example because you have only a few orders left for that turn), you still keep the fireteam thanks to number 2. There is another sort of drawback about the apsara - it needs to be in the same group. And if you're running limited insertion with a core + apsara, that's 6 miniatures out of 10 (and about 100-120 pts out of 300). It makes the list a bit rigid with so many "imposed slots". Overall, i really like assisted fire on the zayin, on K1 rudra and on a lone dakini HMG.
