Anyone knows if this shop here is legit? It just showed on my facebook page and the prices are criminally low. https://miniatures.market/product-category/infinity/
The prices are lower than wholesale (aka it's impossible to sell legitimate models at that price without losing money), and there's no contact info or information on where the company is based. They're almost guaranteed to be recasters. EDIT and the domain itself has the registrar's information redacted, which is another dodgy sign on top of the others.
As far as I know about that page, the kingdom death and confrontation ones are resin recasts. I don't know about the infinity ones. but seems the same
Shame... I actually mailed them today and asked them if they sell original miniatures or if they are recasts. I dont think i'm gonna get an answer. Also they have a shop on facebook and they post stuff there. I thought recast shops are illegal, how can they have this shop for so many months online?
Having a look at it... Victor Messer - almost 15€ Libertos SMG - 15€ Selling the SoF characters box indivudally... Some boxes at half price, others at 35% of CB's price... Yeah, recaster, with price depeding on demand.
Highly doubtable. I have seen one recast once. It was an older LE-Model, so didn't hurt CB directly, because only other option would have been EBay. While the recast was good, some details were shallower than the ones from CB. So, it's not the same Quality. Makes painting a bit harder too.
I play around twice a year with models I have(would not really mind if I don't play it ever again, I transited to boardgames so I spend my time and $$ there), don't plan to invest further into Infinity, I need actually to sell some models, so that I am only left with one army...so I don't really have my horse in this race tbh. A lot of my models were bough 2nd hand on ebay or on sale, got like 50% discount compared to retail...sometimes even more when painted.
Buying stuff that you know, or should have known, are infringing IP law is punished by the law in my country (France) and I'm 99% sure in most country with a judiciary system that is mildly working (if you are buying miniature I guess you live in one of these countries). I guess you are unlikely to get caught, but you should know.
Just to throw in my 2 cents: the store is obviously not legit. It’s incredibly poor form to post that you think it’s okay, on the official forum of the company you’re endorsing theft from. Bans all round imo.
They're Ukranian, or at least, their (apparently abandoned) twitter page claims so. Seem to have previously been called Legion Forge and may have ripped off stuff from The Very Big Corporation Of Nottingham. Note that there's not a single GeeDubs product in their catalogue any more. Say what you will of their games but isn't it odd any site selling tabletop wargames stuff doesn't have anything from the company that is by far the market leader? They seem to have tried to rename the Twitter page, but gave up and stuck to Facebook, where happily enough FB's report functions are set up to not give a flying crap about potential copyright theft unless you're the actual copyright holder, it seems. Unlike YouTube where any troll can claim to be Warber Bros Entertainment...
I am pretty sure that, a web of this kind, from china to china customers will have no problem at all, their laws about copyright are different. Same from a few other countries. Oviously, to EU or USA, this is not legal
