You realise the example i gave, the 2 lists i linked before, are from the winner of a tournament ? Just because a full core team is powerful does not means you have to field it to win. Fielding a full core has both pros and cons. Sometimes you may prefer flexibility, and OSS can just do that too. Our troops are not so bad they absolutely need the 5th body buff to perform well.
As for enomotarkos, yes they can't have 5 bodies, but on the opposite you can have several enomotarkos, and they are similar to hybrid fireteams by design (in that you can include the superior profiles of the characters in the teams). Enomotarkos are good too, they just are not about stacking bonuses to reach the max BS but mixing very good profiles to bring together your objective guy, your assault guy and your reactive guy together for order economy.

The biggest advantage of a Fireteam isn’t bonuses, but order conservation. Being able to move a specialist into position, while you’re spending orders on gunning down the enemy. A simple myrmidon with a spitfire is all the fire power, you’ll ever need.

There’s nothing better, than seeing a 5 man death Star Fireteam on the opposing side. Then you’ll know, that the only thing you’ll need to do is kill 2 men, and your opponents plan will fall to pieces. Sectorial players are often so demoralized losing their team, that they’re unable to get back on their feet.

In general, I’m not a fan of fireteams beyond ordinairy line troopers. I like how they suddenly can get a function beyond cheerleading, but when it comes to more specialized troops - or even worse; mixed teams - the effect is more of all eggs in one basket, which isn’t good for the tactical game (it takes away the purpose of TAGs). Plus I signed up for a cool skirmish games, where each model served a purpose, not moving units around to prop up single models.

That said, as Harris has become widely available, the uniqueness of Phalanx is starting to wane, and it seems less an advantage, than a drawback. Although we’d never hear the end of it, if people would face 5 man ODD teams.

About the Phalanx and the uniqueness of it waning/disappearing with the amount of link options and harris in sectorials.
Enomotarchos needs something extra. Having it grant the rest of the link the number 2 skill would make it a bit more unique and mitigating the huge risk of having the Enomotarchos as link lead and it dying because the randomness of dice which results in now 3 dudes that cant reform without a new Enomotarchos. If it gave the team number 2 you can be more aggressive with the characters and if he died it would drop down to a harris and next dead in the link would cancel the link and forgo the ability to duo.

Next just give at least al the Enomotarchos characters shock immunity or bio immunity (As well as giving Patroclus Bio immunity since he is way to expansive for a 1 wound model)

One dactyl in the army should also have the ability to be a wildcard as well as Thamyris.

And just give Phenthesilea the specialist operative skill

I play every type of Aleph (vanilla, Steel Phalanx and OSS) for a long time, so I would like to expose my opinions on all the faction.

Atalanta: too expensive for her extreme fragility. I would lower the cost to 35 or give to her fatality or msv3. I would give to her another profile with T2 Sniper.

Achilles: should be the best of the humanity, he need the best weapon and equip (i would give to him an unique ranged weapon that only him can have, like a particoular Red Fury).

Post-Humans: Proxy n 1 (doctor and engineer) and 5 (forward observer) are cheap (but in the balance of ALEPH they must be necessarily very cheap). Proxy n.3 and the mk12 profile of Proxy n5 need some rules for become interesting.

Andromeda: simply wrong (and must be considered that her silhouette it's a big disadvantage). It is useless at the moment (slightly good only on OSS, though nobody understands why it is available in OSS :)). I would change the Guard L3 with something like Tinbot E (Spotter) with a slight increase in cost. Or simply give to her impersonation. Furthermore in vanilla should be avaiables all the others profiles that now are only for OSS sectorial.

Hector: should be our general but he haven't relevan't command rule and it costs too much. I think it would be perfect with the Inspiring Leadership rule. I wuold think he should have atleast BS 14. The shield should have a particolar rule on the game. This hero should have a role also without a link (and so in vanilla).

Asuras: too much expensive, and msv lv 3 need a serious improvement (please no combi rifle here...). Furthermore in vanilla should be avaiables all the others profiles that now are only for OSS sectorial. In OSS Asura + Yadu NCO link it's simply wrong, because the lv 2 of asura don't work in the fireteam without breaking the link; so should be corrected.

Shukra: In vanilla should be avaiables the other profile that now are only for OSS sectorial

Teucer: still too expensive and SWC 2 is too much. The K1 Profile is never used, need something, a big discount or replaced with another weapon.

Yadu: 2 swc for the NCO profile is too much.

Acmon and Trisha: I would lower the cost to 25pts

    Drakios: too much expensive.

Thamyris: should be linkable in fireteam

Nesaie Alkè: I would lower the SWC cost from 1.5 to 1, or add a profile with lower swc.

    Patroclus: too much expensive

Maruts: too much expensive, and too much risky (for at this exaggerated cost it would deserve more than risking dying or being rendered useless with few orders). At this cost should have atleast msv3 for help with enemy markers, and lieutenant lv2 would help considered the few orders deployable with him.

Dasyus: can't be compare with the post-humans proxy n 2.

Penthesilea: the girl still remains on the bench. I would add others profile with better range weapons than the combi, like a Redfury; or atleast add to her smoke/eclipse grenades.

Phoenix: I would add another profile with lower swc

Diomedes: too much expensive. I think the the lieutenant profile should be removed in favor of a more advantageous profile.

    Eudoros: needs an update cost/rules-equip

Hippolyta: she is practically eudoros with other equipment, she should be have different rules. She should be have atleast another profile.

Netrods: I would change the use of this unit; not anymore order for 4 points, but an help for something (like a bonus for the ad combat jump and infiltrators unit) for a cost increase or without adding orders to pool.

Characters: many of ours characters are practically identical, they only change in weapons or equipment. Hippolyta for example is an Eudoros with different weapon and few other, Phoenix it's simply a myrmidon officer with an heavy rocket launcher, Machaon it's simply a myrmidon officer with doctor, Thamyris it's a deva hacker with pitcher, etc. Please differentiate our characters with some personal rules and abilities (also with things that now ALEPH haven't), and not only with a different weapon. Furthermore i think that most of them with only one profile need atleast another profile (and some hoplite versions); and we should have atleast one impersonation profile

Lieutenant: I hope in new lieutenant profiles. We need so much someone that increase the maximum SWC (like Neema Saatar), and would be appreciated also someone with advanced command.

OSS : I think it's very nice. It need so much some profile with smoke grenades.

Steel Phalanx: need so much many update, the lists are all the same. Furthermore it would be nice to have an agema's fireteam (with marksmen and their characters), and some others fireteams (maybe also Haris?)

General: Frenzy Impetuous/Extremely Impetuous aren't disadvantage for cheap units, but are big disadvantage for our extremely expensive unit. Please considering the removal of frenzy (rule that often is also forgot to use) or atleast a serious lowering of cost.

***Heroes character***: the steel phalanx has been abandoned. Please add some new greek character! Why Aeneas doesn't exist in Aleph? We have many secondary greek warrior and we don't have the best trojan hero Aeneas and the protagonist of Aeneid epic poem? And Theseus! And Paris, the killer of Achilles. And the best Herakles (or Hercules). The Greek side it is the best peculiarity of Aleph, please increase it.

i wouldn't care if SP don't get no new hero's N4's release providing that the existing get a major overall to be more distinct and viable cost wise.

i cant be the only one who wants to run 300pt pure hero lists with at least 10 regualr orders :P

Saw the beta army leaks, and while several things seemed incomplete, I thought an interesting change was that both the Deva and Yadu profiles got Number 2. If this stays, I think it adds some interesting resilience to the links. I also see it as encouraging rems to be the primary attack pisces for fireteams, since you can now lose a couple and still have it intact.

Despite SP being delayed I find Hector with strategos L1 and LT L2 quite neat as well.

Actually i am really annoyed about Aleph is a like step Child. For many years they have only 2 sectorial options. It is not given place in N4. One of the sectorials almost erased from the store.

A third sectorial is needed and Aleph fluff? Where Will it take place?

That's more Sectorials than any other faction added after N1.

Hey, look on the brightside at least you didn't get one of your sectorials erased from your faction.

Nah, Aleph doesn't need another sectorial. It needs more model releases.

Well, Ariadna didn't really need Kosmoflot and the meme bear with the machine gun.

And I'd argue the faction lineup didn't need O-12 either, with their hodgepodge and glue gimmick.

We got those anyway, while the merovingians are still in their 40 years trip across the desert and half of Bakunin's models are old enough to shave.

Ok, fine, but while we're at it:

We certainly don't need a continuation of the bootleg series with, say, the Bourak Seaside Resort pack with our favorite faces in tactical swimwear...

...the same way we don't truly need a Posthuman sectorial...

...but I'd certainly appreciate them going that direction, and I would support such ventures enthusiastically. But I don't think they will, since Corvus has a well documented allergy to money and the diehard determination to push their weeb non-overwatch boardgame to success or burn trying.

this may be fair, but on the other hand (at least for vanilla players) another sectorial just means a lot more models being released. so that's nice. def when pretty much all(?) of our current models fit in one or the other sectorial so to have brand new things, it will require new models, or just stealing from other factions like some crappy NA2 faction. I would expect that a new sectorial is just a decent influx of new models.

I know that you are good player and your comments are highly welcomed.

a new sectorial brings many things at once. so we can have new ideas at once and mix them with other troops.
anyways i am tired of telling these for almost 8 years. i might be mistaken but, there had been ages anyways.

Not sure i follow the first paragraph. If it is just a compliment, thanks :) if not, please explain.

For the 2nd, I would not despair to hard. I know I personally am having a harder time excusing to play vanilla over OSS as the splash in pieces that vanilla had over OSS seems less good now in comparison.

Such as, Achilles cc just seems to pale in the improvements of other cc experts and v1 spitfire is not sufficient in a arm heavy environment and the nerf to frenzy on v2 is such a massive hit that I dont like it. (Nerf being you lose cover bonus at the end of turn, not start of next active, which means going forth, killing, and ending in cover with suppressive fire is far less good). The libertos non-minelayer lost his ap-exp 1 shot rifle which was such a powerful surprise. And he also lost the ability to hide amongst nagas and dart as the camo is listed as mimitism-0.

They are still solid models but OSS just seems quite adept in this environment.

However, my long term memory is absolute potato but I do recall a post by corvus saying there is a new sectorial for aleph in the future. I am not 100% about it but I do hope that it exists and brings new life to vanilla aleph.

meanwhile unfortunetly i have no hope for any sectorials for hope.. maybe somewhere between 2100-2200.

I really agree with everything you're saying. I think vanilla kind of fell off in terms of power rankings. They're still alright, just not as good as they were.
