You have to declare Jump as Long Order (so the Super-Jump troops do a max of first + second movement values, while the rest jump the first value only) or all move on the ground... or the non-superjump troops declare Inaction. Mixed fireteams are great, but let's not cry because they are not 100% optmized... yet :p
I think it's a bit annoying if you have a Rodok/Legate team. But it can be really awkward for a Seraph and its Auxbot. Having to choose between mobility and being able to keep the Auxbot in coherence sucks.
Perhaps I'm missing what this comment is in reference to, but the only thing the Xeodrons can Haris with is another SJ trooper.
Not being able to mix different movement short skills in link / synchronized is certainly high on my list. This is not game-breaking, just annoying. Maybe discover would be a problem if the ruling were to be changed. I would also nominate winning by capping objectives and then forcing own troops to retreat. Suicide to win feels just wrong.
Wait, what? If you don't have LoF (like say there's a building in the way), you can't shoot back, just Dodge. Are you saying one -can- shoot through/around buildings in this case? Definitely going to have to see rules quotes for that.
Well that is the point of the thread. However I know how much this stuff must bother you but just think of how much tighter the game will be when the next patch drops. Yes I am saying one can shoot through buildings in this case. We are talking about it here. https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...-rear-arc-zero-vis-zone.960/page-2#post-28469 However the short of it is that if you are attacked then you are allowed to attack back with the LoF requirement waved. many people assume that 6th sense gives you 360 vision but that is incorrect. it instead lets you wave the LoF requirement for making an attack much like a jammer or speculative fire. It gets really interesting when you consider shotgun templets and how you might be able to place them. Rules reference and comparison below for you. SIXTH SENSE LEVEL 2 AUTOMATIC SKILL Optional. REQUIREMENTS In order to use Sixth Sense L2, the user must be the target of an Attack. EFFECTS Allows the user to respond with a Face to Face Roll to Attacks (and only Attacks) directed at him by an enemy outside his LoF and regardless the facing of the user. SPECULATIVE FIRE ENTIRE ORDER Attack. REQUIREMENTS The user must employ a BS Weapon with the Speculative Fire Trait. EFFECTS The user may make a single BS Attack against a target outside his LoF. As you can plainly see. Spec fire allows you to make an attack outside your LoF at the cost of -6 to your attack 6th sense allows the same but you must be attacked.
You are not parsing that correctly. Sixth Sense allows you to respond with a Face to Face roll to Attacks, regardless of facing. It does not say you can respond with an Attack, it only says you can respond with a Face to Face roll. Speculative Fire specifies making an ATTACK outside of Line of Fire. Sixth Sense quite specifically avoids the same language.
@macfergusson yeah he's parsing it wrong. But the only reason we know it's wrong is because the way he's parsing it is completely against the way the game actually functions; without knowing that a priori his interpretation is sound. You point about the slight language distinction is justification after the fact.
I believe that was actually corrected somewhere in a thread, due to direct template weapons screwing over fire teams. I can't remember where it was but supposedly the correct interpretation is that coming under attack allows you to respond with an ARO, which doesn't have to be a F2F roll or even an attack.
I recall this as well. If you are allowed to attack back with a DTW due to SS, then all bets are off as to the language used. No one in that thread, or others that have brought it up AFAICT, is actually advocating for that interpretation... it's just that a strict reading of the rules with appropriate clarifications in place leads to that conclusion. It could probably be cleaned up with tighter "Total Cover" rules, TBH.
If that were the case you wouldn't be able to make an action that doesn't allow a face to face roll (like a direct template weapon) using it, and we know that's not the case. How Sixth Sense is generally played by the community doesn't match up with how it's written, and that's a problem.
