On the other hand, Bostria said that Bureau Noir is the sectorial he'd most like to see, though he has no control over these decisions.
I did note that his other comments were about Sectorials for "different parts of SwordFor" and Bureau Toth. And I'm still feeling pretty confident that we'll get a high-ALEPH Toth sectorial over Noir.
Toth is a lot easier to do than Noir. Have a mix of ALEPH and O-12 units to watch them. There's an event in the RPG you can get where your Geist (personal "AI" that everyone has almost from birth) becomes an Aspect of ALEPH. They can build on that.
And it fits the story: Their job is to enforce the 'single AI rule', so fighting the EI is part of this after all!
I'd like to see Noir able to access all the named mercenaries as "operatives" That would be..interesting.
Isn't that list relatively small? Side note: in the RPG, it's possible to play a Tohaa, Krakot (Not easy in social situation) or even a Helot. So that opens options if they ever do a Noir sectorial that way.
Let's see here, turning Mercenaries on and doing a sort by Character in Army gives me this list: Aida Swanson Avicenna Emily Handelman Father Sforza Hannibal Knauf Laxmee Major Lunah Miranda Ashcroft Raoul Spector Uhahu Valerya Gromoz Le Meut Scarface&Cordelia Musashi Senor Massacre Valkyrie Yojimbo 19 total (counting Scarface and Cordelia separately)
Hmmm, that's not too bad. I don't know the stats, but that's a long enough list for a handler, I'd say.
As reinforcement, perhaps. But for Noir specifically, if we go by the lore, they are elite teams of individuals. So nameless troops fits less.
give them some brawlers and other "generic" mercs, as the redshirts that eat shit at the beginning of the mission before the characters get the real work done.
It's far from a terrible idea, it's just hard to fit in currently. I personally would like it because it means new unique character as minis! More to paint and convert! \o/
could see Bureau Hermes being a thing, maybe, depends how much peacekeeping needs to be done on the Circulars.
I would grab a page from Defiance here: the players can have "NPCs" (like Valkyrie) in their missions, so depending on the final Defiance list of human/Tohaa NPCs we could extrapolate the troops Bureau Noir might have available. Besides, I think it was mentioned the first sectorial for O12 was planned for August 2020 (so either after N4, of with N4), considering defiance would be for this christmas (at least the end of the Kickstarter should), we can take it slow.
Yes, the Defiance team is pretty much a Bureau Noir team on a Noir mission. Highly skilled agents going on a potentially suicidal mission. Considering some of the premade campaigns available in the RPG, it suits perfectly. We do have much time to speculate. While I persoanlly want Noir for the many many unique characters it might create, I think this won't be the first sectorial.
I'm thinking sectorials will be more along the lines of deployments and theatres than the bureaus considering most of those bureaus seem like they'd call on Aegis (or NA2 mercs) for muscle. I.e. Calling O-12 "Aegis and Friends" wouldn't be unfair is what I'm thinking. I'd expect Imperial Navy, not the judiciary forces. I.e. Haidao. (Or for a real life analogy: why would the US send FBI and ICE agents to provide UN-led anti-pirate patrols?)
Because the military can't do law enforcement operations. When a US Navy frigate does anti-smuggling patrols around South America, they take on a "LEDET" (Law Enforcement Detachment, spoken "lee-det"), which is usually Coast Guard, but can also be DEA or FBI. The LEDET does all the arresting, but may have people from the ship's crew in support.
